User ImageThe days were getting colder and colder, and Phoebe didn't like it. She was staying in her apartment more and more, refusing to come out unless she absolutely had too. Like now. She needed to go shopping for herself and Patch. It seemed he was living with her now, which she didn't mind. Sometimes, she even let him sleep with her on the bed. Yes, yes, she let him have a huge leash, she knew. But Phoebe didn't mean to be controlling. Quite simply, she was used to it. Licking her lips, the dark skinned girl pulled her thick coat about her tighter as she crossed the street, boots clicking on the asphalt. She should have worn two pairs of pants with how cold she was.

Sighing quietly as she entered the warm store, she too off her hood, revealing her blond and pink hair, which was down and framing her face, partially obscuring her star tattoos on her face. Peeling the gloves off her slender hands, she pocketed them and grabbed a buggy, tail flicking behind her. Patch had gone somewhere this morning, but no doubt she'd bump into him again, and probably soon. Those mismatched eyes of hers glanced at things as she went down the isles. Milk, eggs, some hamburger meat, chicken, noodles, pasta sauce, garlic bread, cheese, bread, ham and turkey, lettuce, tomato, cucumber. These things were carefully measured and calculated. Yes, Phoebe was a scrooge when it came to her money. The only reason she bought Patch clothing was because he had none and she couldn't let her lover suffer like that.

Which reminded her, she needed to pick up some clothes later today. After coffee, a few hours in the heater, and to see what was on TV. Since Patch moved in, Phoebe invested in a few more things. A more comfortable couch, a TV, a decent coffee table, more pots and pans, things Patch wanted or needed, some books for both of them to read.

When she finished shopping, she cursed herself. She over measured the weight. Still, she could get it home, just... slowly. Putting on her gloves, she gathered the bags in her hands and grunted as she walked off and back into the cold. It was a good damn thing she lived near the store, otherwise she'd have to kill something. Five minutes later, she stood and stared at her door, frowning. Keys were in her pockets, her hands were full. Whining under her breath, Phoebe dropped the bags to fish her keys and then unlocked the door, put the keys in her mouth and regathered the bags, dropping them off on the kitchen floor before she went back, shut the door and started to strip. First came the coat she was wearing, then two of the sweaters under it until she was in a black sleeveless shirt; low cut 'V' shaped neck and a slender pair of jeans with the bottoms tucked into her winter boots. Phoebe always looked good. The ever present pear necklace glinted as she started putting things away and made the coffee. Her tail flicked behind her happily. Yes, for once in her life, Phoebe was quite content with how things were turning out for her. She didn't always have the best luck in her life, but it was changing!

The weather was definitely turning out to be...cold. Patch was home alone for once in a long while. He'd decidedly pulled on a coat and mittens and wandered off into the great outdoors while Phoebe did the shopping. He would've offered to go with her had she not looked like she wanted to be alone. He rolled his shoulders in a nonchalant shrug. Ah well. He couldn't win every day. He grinned and strolled, boots kicking up the dusting of snow. His feet were cold, but he was hardly paying attention to them.

Infact, his attention -- especially as of late -- had been on the pretty dark-skinned girl who he'd holed up with for the past few weeks. Phoebe. Beautiful, deadly Phoebe... A girl after his own heart. And she might've been, too. Sometimes, he even got to sleep with her. He purred himself to sleep on those nights. He kept his attention on her, but he was careful not to be too clingy. Girls hated clingy guys, right? Not that he was leaving anytime soon. She'd have to kick him out on his butt first.

In short, Patch was in love. Or at least, he believed with all of his mind and soul that he was. And he wasn't going anywhere.

Finding the apartments once again was easy and he let himself in. One sniff of coffee-laden air and he knew she was home. He grinned and slipped his coat off, then slunk off to find her. She was in the kitchen, in front of the coffee machine. Slowly, he wrapped both arms around her shoulders and gave a squeeze, nibbling at her ear. "Hello, beautiful..." he purred. "Shopping fun?"

The arms around her were familiar, but she couldn't help but tense just at first. A tiny smile appeared on her face as she slowly made her a cup of coffee and then her lover one. "Mmn. Shopping is never fun." Phoebe was one of the rare girls who loathed shopping. Turning around in his arms, she managed to push his coffee cup into view, her own in her hand that she brought to her lips. Phoebe gazed up at her taller lover and smirked. She didn't know if he liked being alone, to have his own alone time, but she didn't exactly want to ask. If there was one thing Phoebe didn't do, it was pry into where she didn't belong. His life was his own, why should she question him about it?

Still, she leaned in and gave him a small kiss on the lips before dancing away from him, making sure her coffee wouldn't spill. "Patch, I can't believe you came home after me. I was expecting you here." Not that she was very disappointed; it happened one or two times before this. Phoebe would never let him know it made her uneasy when he wasn't here when she got home. That would be admitting she was clingy. That was a big part of why she didn't give way to his affections for very long. Phoebe didn't want to turn into one of those dumb females who couldn't live without her boyfriend or husband.

He felt her tense beneath his touch and it made him wonder why. But the smile twitching on her lips made him grin and squeeze her tighter before letting go. "No fun?" Shopping was...amusing, to say in the least. Especially when he was doing it. His tail flicked idly. He didn't let that fact be known, however, else she might tease him about being gay -- which he definitely wasn't. Although he could take alot of her teasing. He adored her.

He did enjoy alone time. It gave him time to think. Think about the future and the ring nestled deep in his pocket... The ring he someday planned to give Phoebe. When the time was right.

At her words, he pulled his ears back and ducked his head. "Sorry... I didn't know you wanted me home! But I'm here now, right...?" He looked hopeful, like a child who wanted to get out of being scolded, though he knew Phoebe wouldn't scold him too hard. She loved him too much. That he was certain of. "I could make it up to you?"

"No fun at all. To damn crowded, to many old people," she stuck her tongue out as she looked at him, her head canting to the side. He was so cute, sometimes, especially when he was amused. Her eyes went to his tail when it flicked, and then moved back to his face. She tugged him close, forgetting about the coffee for the moment and smirked at his next words. How was Patch going to make it up to her? That would definately be interesting. Giving his chin a playful n**, she let him go and made two cups of coffee, one for her, and one the way Patch liked it. She handed him his mug and she moved back to the living room, knowing he'd follow.

Her slender tail rested in her lap when she sat, putting her feet on the table and thinking. "Mm.. How should Patch make it up to me?" She asked, amused beyond reason. Phoebe wasn't saying he had to stay home all the time. That would be plain stupid. Making a cat stay inside wasn't right. "I didn't mean you had to be home when I got home. It's just a surprise that you weren't, that's all. Make any friends?"

He flowed into her easily, it only took two steps. Pressed against her, he grinned. "Old people do suck," he agreed with a deep, rumbling chuckle. "They always need help reaching things..." As she nipped his chin and let him free, he took his coffee mug in his hands, letting the warmth seep through him.

His gold eyes sparkled. "No new friends, not yet. Someday, I'm sure I will, though. Who could resist this face?" He tilted his head to one side and shot her a grin, then sobered. Sipping his coffee, he relished the taste: they'd been together long enough for Phoebe to know exactly how he liked it... He smiled. "I can do anything you want," he promised, heart racing in his chest just a little. He leaned in and placed a small kiss on her lips -- light, delicate.

She looked at the face he was making and rolled her eyes. Whatever; his wasn't that cute. ...........

What a load of s**t. His face was adorable, but she wouldn't admit that to him. Phoebe snorted instead and just rolled her eyes. But when he moved closer and pressed that kiss to her lips, she responded with one of her own, matching his light, fleeting movements. Why was her heart racing like this? She gave him a few more pecks and then licked his nose for good measure before going back to her coffee.

"I don't ask anything of you, other than bathe and wear clean cloths. ....And not flirt with anyone else, in front of me. .......Or try to cont-Ok, so I ask a lot of you. But I don't tell you what to do. not really." She took the long way around she wouldn't ask him to do anything like stay home and wait on her. To Phoebe, that just seemed kind of degrading.

She rolled her eyes at him and he laughed, spinning away on his heel and leaning against the counter, still sipping the too-hot coffee. She kissed him back and licked his nose -- his eyes widened a fraction at that oddity -- but he was grinning widely, highly amused by her.

"I don't mind," he purred with a small chuckle. "Clean clothes aren't that bad and I'm getting used to the baths. And I wouldn't flirt with anyone else -- there's no one prettier..." He shot her a smile. "Don't worry." Then, placing his mug on the counter and sweeping forwards, he brushed both hands through her hair, then wrapped his long arms around her in a hug.

And there it was, that eye rolling thing she did so well. No one prettier? She had seen so many females prettier than herself. Lana, for one. Alice, Gwin... But whatever. She'd let her lover believe what he wanted. Phoebe knew Patch was stubborn when it came to her. When he hugged her, she set her cup down and hugged him back. Her cheek pressing against his own as she let those eyes slipped closed. Patch was too good sometimes.

She pulled back again and picked up her mug, tail flicking as sh did so. "Mm... I don't want to cook on Christmas. Let's go out and eat?" Like anyone would be open. But she didn't say that out loud. One or two places might be. Though, they'd be crowded with other lazy couples who didn't want to cook.

Patch smiled and held her for as long as she was in his arms, relishing the feeling of their togetherness. It was strange but a beautiful thing as well. To be truly honest, he didn't see any of the other girls as striking to him. Hell, he hardly saw anything but Phoebe.

Looking down at her, he nodded. "I don't blame you. Let's go out," he agreed with a flick of his own well-brushed tail. "Or...if you trust me in your kitchen, I could cook the meal?" His gold eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Trust him in her kitchen? Well, she trusted him anywhere else, right? If nothing else, she had a fire extinguisher and a phone, so it would be alright. She rolled one shoulder at him and then smirked. "If you think you can, be a man and do it. If you burn down my house you're ********. And not in the way we like," she added with a wink. But seriously, he'd better not burn down her place. She worked hard for this.

He watched her with amusement glittering in his eyes. Burn the place down? Hardly! He'd cooked...once or twice. He got the basic gist of how to use appliances and times and such. "I'd love to make you Christmas dinner, Phoebs," he purred out. "What do you want that we have?"

"Woah. Why do I have to pick if you're cooking? You're the chef, figure it out." Like she'd make this easy for him. Phoebe gave him a toothy grin and chuckled, polishing off the last of her coffee before moving over to him and giving him a few pecks on the lips. She moved to the kitchen again, pouring herself a second cup and stretched out this time. Gods, she felt so old lately. All the kids running around got her thinking, as well. Despite how she acted, Phoebe was female and she did think about family and kits. She wanted a litter of her own, but it was far to soon in the relationship to even bring that up. Still, she let out a soft sigh at the thought.

Patch grinned at her, undeterred. "Fine," he boasted. "Then leave the kitchen and I'll surprise you, if I'm the chef!" His ears flicked forwards, gold eyes watching her as he turned for the fridge and began to dig through the shelves. He found the small turkey they'd been thawing for over a week now, as well as some frozen corn and the potatoes were in a pantry. He gave her a little wave. "Don't worry. I won't burn the house down. I swear. Now go watch tv!" Placing a kiss first on her lips and then on her forehead, he lead her into the living room with a chuckle.

His words, the kiss, they did nothing to ease her mind. So, instead of doing what he told her, Phoebe sat down at the island and glared at him. For some reason, she was ill at ease. Sure, she trusted him, but he'd never cooked before, from what Phoebe knew. Her tail flicked as she watched him with her brows raised, trying to soften her expression. "Patch... I'll just tell you what your doing wrong and what you're not doing."
