PWTorch has learned that former WWE star Umaga (Eddie Fatu) was found dead today by his wife.

The original suspicion on cause of death is prescription pills, as Umaga was reportedly found bleeding from his nose and mouth.

We have also learned that WWE will be issuing a statement later today or this weekend.

Umaga was released from his WWE contract in June after failing WWE's Wellness Policy for the second time. He was on the Hulkamania Tour in Australia that just concluded last weekend.

Mr. Kennedy (Ken Anderson) was on the Australian Tour and posted a brief note on Twitter: "Say a prayer for my boy Umaga."

Former WWE stars Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson, Bobby Lashley and Pope D'Angelo Dinero (Elijah Burke) have all tweeted today concerning the breaking news of Umaga being hospitalized. Although we have not received direct confirmation of Umaga's death, the tweet posted by Lashley seems to imply that the former WWE star is in fact dead. Below are the wrestler's tweets:

Bobby Lashley: "Very sad day today. A good friend is gone."

About 3 hours after posting the the above Tweet, Bobby Lashley then posted "Say a prayer for Umaga."

Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson: "Say a prayer for my boy Umaga"

D'Angelo Dinero (aka Elijah Burke): "Pope was informed many hours ago of my friend Umaga. Pope will not comment until the family speaks, neither should you. Prayer is key! ~ PHS"

I am actually sad about this one. I loved Fatu.
What is really sad is that I heard the news via twitter.

He wasn't found dead, he was in grave condition. He was on life support at the hospital, and had two or three heart attacks. They decided to take him off, seeing as he was brain dead.

RIP Umaga.

If not for the poor gimmicks he worked with Fatu could have been good for the WWE, its a shame

They have an official "story" on it on WWE.com

Not exactly the most tactful. "Yeah he worked for us, sorry............this is when we fired him"

They didn't give proper respect to Test and Sherri Martel, I don't see why they would to Eki "Eddie" Fatu. Sorry if I sound rude, my intention was only to state what it's been and will always be with the WWE. Anyone with no contract with them is the least of their concern and this just proves it. Inform to let people know, that's what their website is all about after all.

But to continue on Maverick's thoughts, with the good gimmick and use of his natural athleticism (Those Samoans coming in and doing Moonsaults was always something even a NASA physician couldn't understand), he could have been a bigger player in the WWE than he has been. RIP Umaga.

Quote:
WXW C4's Statement On The Passing Of Eki "Umaga" Fatu

12/04/09 - On behalf of the Anoai Family and front office of WXW C4 it is our sad duty to announce that earlier today, December 4th, we lost another member of not only our wrestling family, but immediate family. Eki "Umaga" Fatu passed away today in Houston at the age of 36. While we mourn the passing of Eki, we also remember all the good times that we were able to share with him and the smiles on the millions of fans faces around the world when he walked to the ring to do what he loved most: wrestle. During this difficult time, we please ask for the fans and the press to respect the privacy of his family during this tough time. When there is more information to be made public, his family will do so. The worst thing that could happen would be to have false information about this horrible situation out there, only to make the situation even worse. We'd like to thank everyone for their sympathy and prayers and ask that everyone celebrate the life of Eki Fatu.
