Do you have a blog, a photo gallery, or some sort of way to browse your collection online? Introduce yourself in this thread, fill out this form, and I'll add you to the front page. Name: Blog: Gallery: Favourite Motif: Speciality (do you collect a certain weave, only from a certain era, etc?): ==== Name: Moonblossom, rl name is Diane Blog: http://www.moonblossom.net/blogGallery: Flickr linkFavourite Motif: Tachibana, Stations of the Tokaido Speciality: I try to focus on unusual pieces - gorgeous Taisho-era vintage items, stuff with strange motifs, or pieces that don't fit into one of the standard "furisode/tomesode/houmongi/etc" categories. Also a sucker for hakata.

Name: shakespearerules (Katie IRL) Blog: n/a, my life isn't interesting enough for me to write about. Gallery: クリック! Favourite Motif: Landscapes (especially Kinkakuji, but all the Kinkakuji-themed stuff is so expensive...), dip-dyed sleeves and hems Speciality (do you collect a certain weave, only from a certain era, etc?): My main interests are shibori and furisode. (Being a college student, though, my collections of both are quite small. lol)

Awesome, welcome!
I'm trying to foster more of an appreciation for shibori. XD It's gorgeous, but something about the texture freaks me out.

I love the texture. :3 So does my mom...she sits and admires all the shibori stuff I look at and sighs longingly.
Just like I do. It's all so expensive. crying

Moonblossom My mom loves it too. She keeps threatening to steal my obiage to wear as scarves XD I finally just bought my mom a shibori scarf, so she could have something of her own. She adores that thing. I also have a particular taste for cool colors; my furisode is teal and black, and I really really really want a dark blue iromuji...I have a hard time finding houmongi in blue, or furisode in blue that don't have pattern and color combinations that I find obnoxious. Like, I wish there were more women's kimono in the men's kimono, prussian/midnight blue. Such a kimono would look glorious with my gold obi. 3nodding

Sadly, I only own one item, a Yukata. You can find a picture of it here. Warning - The Yukata is wrinkled and the picture bled a few colors with my digital camera. Other than some color bleeding, this is the only article I own. crying crying gonk

My excuse to wear it won't come until Spring. My anime club at my local college is trying to go to the Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival. Another girl in the club was interested when I said I owned a Yukata. So if our Spring Fling aka each of us set up a table and do something for the club, I could con her into being the model on how to put a Yukata presentation.
Granted, the Yukata is the picture is very large, as I am very large. it might be too big on her. On the other hand, once I blow part of my check this month on Yukata Accessories, I can do the presentataion with all the items minus the undergarments.
