He wasn't sure what drove him to go out into the cold autumn chill. What roused him from his uncomfortable Hillworth bed, made him put on a heavy sweatshirt, and go out into the city. In fact, why he'd gone out and done more was also a bit of a mystery. For a while Elzo had just walked about, not really thinking, just...walking. Eventually, he found himself walking by a florist, and he'd paused. On the selves were the usual assortment of winter wreaths and seasonal bouquets. But, there, hidden behind some gaudy roses covered in fake snow, it lay, almost forgotten.

A small but modest bouquet of daisies, whiter then the fake snow that littered so many of the wreaths hanging outside. It was simple in the fact it was small lacking in any other flowers, yet, in that, it was oddly elegant. If not a bit odd, given the time of the year. Elzo hadn't really thought about it for long. He'd just picked it from the vase and went to the register.

After his impulsive purchase, he'd just gone back to walking. About an hour later, he found himself looking back at something he thought he'd forgotten. A sidewalk bench. Next to a few stores mow decorated for the holidays. It was the same as he'd last seen it, with the simple swirled frame of metal and treated wooden beams. The wilted potted plants half tended on either side. It was just how he'd last seen it.

Tugging a bit on his scarf, Elzo sighed, air leaving a white cloud hanging in front of his face. It seemed even his subconscious was bent of making him remember a girl he'd so oddly fallen for, and was so desperately trying to forget.

Why was everything complicated? All the time, no matter how easy Audrey wished it would be. Grey boots shuffled through the light coating of powder on the ground, exposing the dark wet concrete beneath as the young lady scooted her way across the sidewalk. It was easy to drag your feet when you were thinking, and her mind was working almost in triplicate of its normal speed.

It really wasn't fair. Khaldun was Hematite. Her nice, safe boyfriend had turned into a Negaverse agent right there in her arms, and then he'd tried to slice off the back of her head. She admired him for his taste and timing, but the whole circumstance was absolutely impossible! Another impossible boy came to the forefront of her mind, brown hair and uniform almost similar to the color of the freshly fallen snow. Castor...the only boy that really had had anything nice to say about her ever. Khal was fun and all, but what had he ever said about her?

Nothing, really.

With a heavy sigh, Audrey lifted her head, and stopped dead. This was perhaps unwise, as she was immediately rammed from behind by the rest of the pedestrian traffic that had not been paying attention, and she had to grip the streetlamp for balance. But that did not change the fact that there, in her field of vision, was a plain city bench. It would have been utterly unremarkable, if not for the fact that it was the bench. The bench where she'd met Castor, and 'stolen' his heart.

Shaking her head sadly, the teen in her blue coat brushed the bench futilely, before plopping her bottom down and staring up at the sky. Everything was so god damn complicated.

Well, that was a bit of a reality shocker.

In staring at the bench like a forlorn, love sick puppy, (which he would begrudgingly admit he was), Elzo's puppy thoughts were abruptly ended when a girl walked over and began to dust the thin white power off of his bench. Or was it their bench? Hell, technically it was the city's bench but still. STILL. It had meaning and this pink haired hussy had ruined his totally deep and self enrolled thoughts of love.

When she sat down and looked up however, Elzo had the fortune to get a good look at her face and expression. She looked just about as hopeless as he must have. Maybe less as she probably wasn't in some magical struggle of good and evil. Damn Romeo and Juliet like love.

His Shakespearian love for Linarite aside, Elzo pondered the courses of action to take with the pink haired girl. One, he could leave her be and go on his way. Two, he could just leave the flowers next to her, leaving her with a mind ******** of why some stranger just put flowers next to her. Or Three...
"You alright?"
Choice, made. He was Elzo Xanis damn it. Self professed flirt and someday hopeful lady killer. He did not ignore pretty pink haired girls who looked depressed on park benches.

It was overcast now, and the middle of the day. There were no stars, there was definitely no moon. It was the middle of the day, in December. Nothing magical about right now, just snow lightly falling on her upturned cheeks. Had she been crying, it would've been the perfect cover. But Audrey rarely cried anymore. There was something about being a ruthless killer on the side that made you a bit remote from certain emotions.

She was so wrapped up in her own thoughts, that she didn't see the boy with daisies clutched in his fist approach until it was too late. Her head shot back to level, and she gasped in surprise, choking on the bitter cold air that flew into her warm lungs with a quick cough. "Oh! God, you scared me!" Blinking up at him, she had a quick moment of deja vu before shaking it off.

"I'm alright, thanks. Just you know...thinking. Life and all it's complex relationships. Boy crap." The smile was halfhearted, and didn't quite reach her eyes. It was pretty easy to see that this was not exactly a happy camper, though it had nothing to do with his sudden appearance. "Did I look like I was in distress?"

"Well, pretty girl, by herself, looking all emo on a cold winter day." Dusting off the other side of the bench, Elzo sat himself down. At the very least, he wasn't going to talk down at someone who obviously was also in the 'I feel sad' department. "So, in a way, I guess you could say you do look a bit like a damsel in distress. Why, in need of a knight in shining armor? if so, I'd be more then willing to take up the position should it be vacant." Flashing a Xanis trademarked grin, (if it wasn't trademarked at this point it should be), he held out a hand. "Elzo Xanis. Sorry about scaring you earlier."

"To be honest I was kinda lost in my own thoughts." He half heartedly raised the flowers in his other hand. "Girl troubles. Seems to be the season for relationship issues rather then romance for me."

Shaking her head to brush off his apology, she gave him a slightly brighter smile, this one finally lighting up her sunset yellow eyes a bit. Audrey pulled one hand from her deep blue coat just long enough to shake his hand warmly, shooting it back in almost immediately from the chill of the day. "Audrey Collins, and I seem to have a surplus of knights. If there's a vacancy though, I'll be sure to send smoke signals from my tower." Quirky and sarcastic, that was Audrey, even in the worst of times.

Pulling her hand back out, she quickly but gently flicked a finger over the flowers. "What, did your girlfriend not like them? She's crazy if not, they're really pretty! And daisies aren't always easy to find in December." Daisies. Someone, somewhere, was trying to mock her. Here she was, sitting on their bench, with yet another flirty boy, who was holding daisies. What, was it a sign?

She wasn't reading it.

"Ha! You know, most girls read way to much into those lines an accuse me of being sexist. I mean really. I just like to help out girls. Especially the pretty ones like you. Makes a guy feel good about himself. Besides, you look like you can take care of yourself should something go down." Her swiftness in returning her hands to the warmth of her pockets didn't make Elzo blink. He liked the cold. Maybe it had to do with his senshi powers or something, but, for as long as he could remember, he just didn't mind the cold, and rather, he found it pleasant.

"Oh these?" He waved the flowers about, careful to to fling them so they'd scatter. "No, no girlfriend, more like..." He paused. What was she, really? "More like a girl I wish I could see but can't. Plus, I don't even know when I'd see her next." For a while he looked at the daisies, just thinking. "Here." he offered them to Audrey. "I'd rather have them go to someone real then go to waste. Besides, it's like you said." He pushed them closer to her. "Daisies are hard to find in December."
PostPosted: Fri Dec 04, 2009 11:16 pm

Glancing at the flowers offered, Audrey reached out and took them slowly. Looking down at their bright, cheery centers, the steel reserve broke, and the seventeen year old started to silently cry. Not rivers, just a small trickle of tears. One, two, and then they just fell. A dozen or so, before she brushed her hair back and tried to subtly wipe her face against her sleeve before offering another smile to Elzo.

"Thanks, I love daisies. They're special to me...someone gave me some once, and it gave them a special place in my heart." Thinking back to what he said, she sympathized. She never knew when she'd see Castor again, and odds are it would be messy and tragic when she did. "I know that feeling though. I have to choose between two boys. Mr. Right, and Mr. Right Here."

It was a stretch, referring to Castor that way. He was a bit skeezy, and not entirely sincere, but he liked her. Liked her a whole lot more for the right reasons. Audrey still wasn't entirely sure what Khal wanted, except for the obvious physical attractions. But he was safe. AUGH. Boys were so complicated!

Woah, what, backup! Crying was not his goal! Crying was what he wanted furthest away from his goal. Elzo's goal was smiling and possible phone numbers! Not tears and heartbroken...ness! Not his plan man. Not the plan. "Hey, wait, don't get all weepy on me! I didn't mean to bring you down!" He got up and out of his seat to stand in front of her, fretting. "That's not what flowers are for!" As she explained, he calmed down a bit and decided squatting in front of her was much nicer. He could see her face.

"See, flowers are meant to be happy things, something to make you feel good." He smiled, pulling one out from the bunch. Twirling it in his fingers, he continued. "Mr. Right may be alright, but Mr. Right There may be right too. It's kinda an odd slope to scope. My opinion?" He stood and place the flower in her hair, a bit of a bold move. "Go with what you feel is right. Right is just a matter of opinion isn't it? And besides," Elzo was grinning. "The only person's opinion who should matter is your own. Uh, but then again, that's my opinion." he laughed, and it sounded like an honest one.

"Sorry, I'm kinda not one for giving relationship advice. What with my own Romeo style love going on. Forbidden fruit and all that."
PostPosted: Fri Dec 04, 2009 11:48 pm

Audrey's face slowly reddened as Elzo knelt in front of her, ridiculous grin on his face as he lightly tucked a flower into her heavy mass of glowing pink hair. "I'm sorry! They did make me happy, it's just...well. My situation is kinda impossible for Mr. Right too. I have an uncle that is pretty against his type of guy, and he'd really go insane if he found out we were talking let alone anything else. He doesn't like Right Now either, but he hasn't done anything but strangle him yet."

To an outsider, this was probably about to be an incredibly disturbing statement, and had Audrey been more in a normal frame of mind, she never would have said it. But they were both having relationship troubles, and well...it was this place, and the flowers, and everything. This Elzo kid was pretty nice, it was a pity his girlfriend was crazy.

"I guess it's just a popular trend these days, huh?" Smiling and wiping at her face again with her sleeve, she adjusted the flower and lightly patted the bench. "Please don't stay down there too long for my sake, you'll catch something."

"....Strangulation?" The way she said it made it seem like the guy would do worse. But, the way Elzo asked made it seem like it was a perfectly normal experience. "...Then I think the solution is pretty simple Audrey." He took her invitation and sat back down at her side, propping his feet on the pot meant for plants, (all of which had since become twigs in dirt). "You just don't tell the overbearing uncle. He finds out you give him a big old ******** you and go vegas style on his a**....Pardon my language." He sniffled back a chuckle. "If the guy wants you to remain single he's going to have a tough time doing it. You're pretty, young, and clearly have a brain and are using it. Guys LIKE that. If he's so bent on keeping them away, he's not going to get very far."

Elzo was kind of leaning back on the bench, feeling a bit more relaxed. "...I'm going after a girl who basically is on a whole 'nother playing field, (and no, I don't mean she's gay or anything), and if we're caught together, she'll pretty much be facing hell on earth and I'll be facing just plain old hell. We were caught the first time and I took alot of crap for keeping our meeting secret, and to keep her safe, even when I was told she found someone else, someone better. So, really, I don't know why I still go after her...But you know what?" He was smiling now, looking skyward. "I'd risk it. Not because I'm going against the system or anything. But, because, I do want to know she's happy. Safe."

He looked back at his bench buddy. "I guess what I'm trying to say is going with what your heart tells you. I tried to ignore mine and it's basically left me feeling like s**t. Batshit uncle or not, just go with what your heart tells you is right, even if it may not seem that way?" He frowned. "If that makes any sense at all. God, I think I just confused myself." he groaned. "Love is WAY to complicated."

It wasn't an interesting neighborhood, just a shopping trap of stores that oozed practically lethal concentrations of Christmas spirit from the sickeningly repetitive music to the gaudy window decorations. But even accounting for the pedestrian traffic, it was faster to cut through the heart of the place than avoid it if Khaldun wanted to make it back to Hillworth before he lost his face and fingers to ******** frostbite. Cold as hell out here. Predictable in his clothing choices as usual, Khaldun had pulled a threadbare hoodie, faded band logo and all, over his usual overly-casual ensemble. His headphones were around his neck instead of his ears, though hard rock blared from them in direct opposition to the tinny shopping carols. The teen leaned in and breathed into his hands, rubbing them together to try and keep a semblance of circulation going in them. When he looked up, bright pink hair caught his eye. A girl and boy, sitting at a bench. Not worth his time to stand and gawk in the cold, right? Wrong.

He watched with eyes narrowed from across the street, just a face in the shopping crowd. That ridiculously pink hair meant it was his girlfriend sitting on that bench. She had a bouquet of daisies across her lap. She shouldn't have flowers, because Khaldun had never bought her any. His gaze flickered to the boy who was sitting next to her, just as the crosswalk light changed. The pair was momentarily blocked out by shopping bags and tired consumers. Very vaguely, he considered whether it could all be a coincidence. People bought flowers for a lot of things, right? Nealite wasn't going to be right about this. Then the sea of people Khaldun had been swept up in parted again, and the boy was putting a flower in her hair. Oh what the ******** had warned him about this, about Audrey messing around with other guys, 'Mr. C' and god knew who else. And Khaldun had passed it off as just catty comments on her part, just trying to get a rise out of him, because how would she know? Well, she apparently ******** did.

It wasn't easy to cut through the crowd, but Khaldun made full use of his elbows to speed things up, which earned him a few obscenities as he shoved people aside. So they were talking again? He couldn't hear a word of the conversation, but the looks on their faces told him everything he needed to know. ******** that. He stalked toward the 'couple' with his hands buried in his front pockets, inadvertently looking and sounding like a certain General-King in his anger. "AUDREY!"

The unsecured flower tumbled from her hair and landed in the snow at her feet along with the rest as the teenager sprang to her feet, a look of shock on her face. Was that...oh my god that was Khaldun that voice came from?! In her horror, for a moment, it had almost sounded like Killingworth himself! What, was this boy in the Negaverse too. Suspicious, and wholly upset, Audrey looked between the two and held her ground as the angry young man stalked over.

"Khal! If I'd known you'd be out around today, I would've had you call me! I mean, I know you wanted your space and were probably out doing..you know, stuff for school but...it's been awhile and..." her voice trailed off and her hands clutched inside her pockets uselessly. On her end, the conversation had been totally innocent.

But somehow, it didn't seem like Khal was going to care very much.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:19 pm

Elzo had dealt with his fair share of angry boyfriends. They fell into three pre-set factors, all depending on what he just did. The factors were as follows:
Did he sleep with her?
Was he doing something totally normal but could be seen as bad?
Did he just pull one of his ninja kisses?
Was the boyfriend a bro?
Was she a total slut and failed to mention the fact her boyfriend was going to kick his a**?
(Elzp can't count under stress, so for safety sake he thought of the factors as three.)
So far, Audrey fell into the second category, meaning, Khal fell into one of two. Obsessive boyfriend, or, innocent misunderstanding that could be cleared up.

Looking at the infamous rumored b*****d son of Hillworth's gym teacher, Khaldun Cilentani, Elzo was going to place his money on obsessive boyfriend. He knew Khaldun. He had class with Khaldun. Khaldun wasn't a bro, but he was a guy Elzo generally didn't dislike, (having run into him at Crystal also girl watching. There was some kind of bonding that went on when you met your class senior doing the same thing you were. ). That said, Elzo also knew Khaldun, like many Hillworth boys, was not a guy you crossed.
"Oh, Uh...hey..Khaldun. Uh, you're dating Audrey? That's cool." Elzo rubbed the back of his head. This might not end well if Khaldun was anything like his rumored father. Rumor or not, Khaldun could still kick his a** and fight. All Hillworth guys could fight, (Except maybe guys like Simon or Alexis), and many would fight over stupid s**t.

Like a misunderstanding.
