Argus Sat on a flat rock in the setting sun. It was a very productive day. He pulled out some Suba and put it into his pipe and lit it. Breathing it in, he sighed, Smoking floating up into the sky. It was the beginning of the growing season, The month of Waves. All around him the monks were putting up their hoes and staves from the hard day work. His muscles ached. He was one of the strongest monks, medium height, with a slight tan. He had no hair, but a beard was starting to show.

Far out in front of him he could see the sheep grazing, A trained dog never far away. The monastery has been having trouble with wolves lately, So the sheep were to be brought into the barn at night. Such a shame. They hated enclosed spaces.

To his left the corn fields started showing signs of life. It would be a good harvest this year. The wheat was already being harvested. They would be able to get another crop before the winter, A good year indeed.

He sat smoking his pipe, watching the sun set. The stars slowly began peeking out through the orange sky, one by one. "Brother Argus, May i join you?" Argus looked over to see Samual, A new recruit to the monastery. Like many of the brothers, he once was not such a pieceful man. Tall for a man, Tan, And muscles, he would not be considered hansom. Scares riddled his face, from past battles. He wore the traditional grays, and greens of their monastery. "Sit down Brother. What is on your mind Sam."

Samual sat. "Is it true what they are saying? About you?" Argus puffed his pipe once more and offered it to his brother. "Yes, We all had other lives before this one. You know this. Samual took the pipe and puffed once and started hacking. Argus laughed, "Easy, my friend, easy" he slapped his back. "Yes, we all have done things we are not proud of."

They sat watching the setting sun. "Are you ever afraid of retribution?" sam asked. "No, Whatever happens to me will happen." He puffed, "And i doubt they could find me, We all joined for a reason, i had two."

"What are those?" sam asked. "Redemption, and Simplicity." Sam sighed. "I hate to tell you this brother but i don't think you will ever have either." Argus looked at him "And why is that?"

"Because the king knows you killed his son." The dagger appeared so fast inside samual's hands that argus almost missed it. Sam swung it aiming for his heart back handed. It was to bad he was dead before it made contact. Argus sighed, and lifted his former friend laying him flat onto the stone. He took one last look at the scene around him, Then walked off into the night.

She had stumbled upon this place several months ago, a nice peaceful little hollow in the woods at the foot of the mountains. The old abandoned cabin near the stream was perfect for her, giving her easy access to the things she needed without much trouble. Her name was Keira and she was a seeress from the nearby kingdom. She had been sentenced to death with the other seers, but one of the older seers had saved her.

He had wiped her memory of everything that had happened before he put her to sleep and hid her away in an aquaduct. She remembered none of this now, of course, but this was her story. When she woke, she woke to discover she was blind. Nothing but blackness met her gaze and she had crawled through the tunnels of the aquaduct until she fell into the river that ran under the city. It carried her down and out to the waterfall that lead to the forest where she finally washed up on the shore, exhausted.

Cold, wet, afraid and alone, she stayed there on the shore, huddled and shivering until nightfall. She heard something and and scurried back away from the bushes that rustled nearby. Soon, the huff and puff of an animal could be heard and felt against her skin, near her ear...images flashed through her mind of a large white wolfe and a large black wolfe on either side of her and she put her hands up to her face in a sad attempt to hide.

For a long time, neither animal moved or did anything except sniff at her and make noises to each other. Finally, a soft nose nuzzled her elbow and a tender voice whimpered at her. Keira uncovered her eyes and turned her face to where she assumed their faces were staring back at her. She tried to focus, the blackness of her sight slowly turning to a soft blue hue that faded into white. The outline of the animals could be seen as their eyes bored into her own.

We won't harm you...little one. A rough but gentle voice spoke inside her mind. The black one.

Come with us now, we'll keep you warm and look after you...this forest is no place for one such as you. The white one joined in. She was female, and slightly smaller than the other, her male counterpart.

"Who are you?" Keira stammered. The white one dipped her head and nuzzled her gently again, tenderly.

I am Tirzah and this is my mate, Arkah. We've been sent to help you...but that is all we are able to tell you now, dear one. Come with us, you're turning blue and that is not a good color for your kind. Keira could sense the humor in the voice and she placed a trembling hand on the head of Tirzah, allowing the wolfe to come around and slip under her arm to help her up.

They had been together ever since. Arkah and Tirzah had helped her find this cottage near the stream and they protected her and brought food to her. They had become her family and soon they were joined by an entire pack. Now, at any given day there were ten to twenty large...larger than normal, now that Keira had learned the difference, wolves laying about the yard of her cabin.

Her life was happy, other than not being able to remember anything before Tizah and Arkah had found her. So far, however she was content with that.

The king sat in his throne room, Muttering. *Look at them, all plotting against me. Kill me like they killed my son. How will they do it? Poison. yes Poison!* "Guards Kill the Cooking staff, They are guilty of treason, To be hanged in the morning." The guards all looked, Around at each other. Then at captain Travus. "Sire you have no proof. Maybe a show of mercy?" Travus tried to persuade the king. "NO HANG THEM, KILL THEM, DO IT NOW OR ITS YOUR HEAD." Travus just nodded to one of his guards. Nothing would befall any of the servants. The king was so mad he never knew the difference.

King Garious James the third. And as mad as a hatter. Three years ago after his son died he snapped. It started as unusual paranoia. Jumping at shadows, and rats. It grew, to the point of vengeful hissy fits. The kingdom lost most of the seerers that way. The king ordered a purge of all of them due to their "Failure" to foresee his sons death. Thank the gods some survived. So few.

After words, similar purges happened to his own knights, mages, healer, all coming to a head with a local orphanage. The king got it into his head that they were rebels plotting against him. It was then that everybody in the palace, unsaid, decided enough was enough. They could not kill him, But they would not kill for him either.

The king was mumbling to himself again. And then started to cry. *Here we go.* The king stood up from his throne, his body staggered from lack of food or exercise. "Marcus your here." The king strolled forward towards a phantom that was not there. "You have come back to me son." He reached out his arms. Travus followed him. "There is nobody there my lord, Marcus is dead." Garious snarled. "No you fool he is right there, Can't you see him." the king turned to where he was pointing and saw nothing thing. "Marcus! Don't Leave!"

The king slumped into a lump on the floor crying. Travus Picked him up and dragged him back to the throne. He would repeat this 7 more time today, till the king went to his chambers.

*Only two more weeks* he thought. In two weeks, garious's daughter would come of age, and one way or another she would take the throne, Even a naive girl, which she wasn't, would be better than this. *two more weeks.* Everybody in the castle seemed to echo is thoughts. It was going to be a long Two weeks.

The pack was out hunting and had been most of the morning, leaving Keira to herself and her own devices. She had set to practicing the sporadic visions she had amongst other things. She realized just how many devices she had one day when she had wandered off accidentally. She had taken a wrong turn, getting confused where she was as she looked for a pot needed for brewing tea.

Wandering a little too far toward the mountain, Keira had been cornered by a rather large mountain cat and when the thing lunged at her, the girl had thrown up a hand and fire had leapt from her fingers, engulfing the feline in flames. It had run off, catching trees and brush on fire as it went until the pack had found it while searching for their 'pup'. Arkah had orded the pack to get the cat to the river where they doused it and promptly put it out of its misery. The fire was spreading quickly and some of the wolves, along with Keira, had been cornered by the flames. Panicking, Keira had pressed her back up against the mountain and as the flames closed in around her, the girl let out a panicked scream and water burst forth from her, dousing everything as it met a wave from the river that closed the fire in to completely put it out.

Keira had fainted as th epower ended and Arkah and Tirzah had carried her back to the cabin, Tirzah helping keep her from falling off Arkah's back as she was laid over him.

They traded glances at each other from time to time, wondering just what else would come at them. How long would it take for her to find out?

Keira had been exhausted since the event, nearly three days ago...The power, the water, the fire...whatever it was, had drained her and she felt like she had teh flu now.Going to the stream, she stripped down to nothing and carefully stepped in up to her neck and felt around for the stones that were conveniently placed like a chair. This part of the stream was warm and stayed warm thanks to a pit she had dug beside it and lined with stones. She built a fire in it that remained burning at all times and it kept the water warm in this spot and it was her favorite place.

This was how she spent her time mostly when the wolves were gone.

Argus slipped into the city in the cover of darkness. he had changed out of his monk cloths days ago, and had taken up a disguise as a merchant. When he reached the gates, he waited till night fall, and changed into his assassin cloths. Dark green, and form fitting, it was hard enough to see him at night. But he also was talented into magic. Even in torch light he only looked of a shadow. But he had no intention of being seen at all tonight.

He rushed through the streets seeing the castle in the distance. *Never thought id see this again.* He stopped and turned left and stopped again between a bakers shop and a tailor. He bent down and lifted the manhole cover, and jumped into the sewer. The manhole fixed itself back into place instantly by itself. Nobody had seen him enter.

His boots splashed in the darkness. The rats scattered every which way. For a normal man, the pitch blackness would be deafening, suffocating. But the darkness welcomed Argus, Nothing hid from him here. He ran down the tunnel a ways, then stopped at a dead end. He put his hand to the wall and whispered something. The wall began to colaps into itself revealing a room. Argus went inside and the wall closed behind him.

Argus's nest was packed full of anything he would ever need. The room was circular, with two others connected to it.. the one he entered into was the library. The walls were filled with books of all nature to spells, poisons, anatomy. Anything he thought might be useful. In the center of the room was a table with books and vials spread around, with a few chairs and a basin. "My old laboratory."

The adjacent room to his left was his training quarters. The walls held every kind of weapon and armor. Disguises stuffed in chest around the edges. The floor was covered in ropes and dummies. The other room to his right, was his bed chambers. Its where he slept, cooked, and thought. Simpler than the others. It contained a bed and a stove. with a small table near the head.

He turned and made sure all his security wards were in place. A person who found this place would not live to tell the tale. Even if he was not planning on coming back, he could not risk somebody finding something they should not. The wards were fine, so he scanned the rooms one by one to make sure nothing was taken or moved. The only thing new was the small layer of dust.

Satisfied that nothing was amiss he went to his room and started to warm water. Taking off his cloths he bathed and then shaved. the monk life had been a good one. It was peaceful but it also kept him in shape. And what he had to do, he needed to be at the top of his game.

Somebody wanted him dead. It was not the king. The king thought everybody killed his son. To bad he was wrong. The poor man had lost his mind for no reason at all. But if it was not the king, then who wanted him dead. And how did they find him. He thought for awhile and decided he would see a seer in the morning. But first. he needed sleep. He walked over to the bed and flipped the covers over him. He was out in seconds.

The pack had been hunting for hours now, but they had long since found their prey. Now, the pack having eaten, they all sat in a circle, Arkah and Tirza at the head with all eyes on them and a large deer frozen in a block of ice behind them to take back to Keira after their meeting.

The girl's powers are growing exponentially. The block won't be able to hold much longer. A dark red wolf tipped his head toward Arkah, his eyes almost blazing with intensity.

A grey wolf to his right sighed and dropped her head. The Mage was alone when he placed the block. Things didn't go as planned, she was not prepared, he was not prepared, the others were not even present and it was all done too hastily. Now the poor pup can't even remember her name save to trust us when we call her by it.

Many voices rose, speaking over one another, arguing, it was not until a growl from Arkah, low and strong, joined the ruckus that they all were quiet.

I understand the complications we face, brethren, but I also understand this is why we are even here. He stood and Tirzah's eyes never left him. But I also understand we made an oath to stand by her no matter what, and whether things went according to plan-which they never will go as smoothly with humans as they do with our pack-or whether things go horribly wrong as they did in this situation. Our mission, our goal, is to guard this girl with our lives and guide her through her own. We've always protected her, watched over her. She does not remember us, she does not know us, but she will, and we know her and remember her and that is all that matters. She is our charge, not the others, she is our responsibility, not the others. They are irrelevant." He glared at them all and Tirzah joined him in the act. "Is that understood? Or are we going to have more problems?" Various quips and whuffs and such things signaled their agreement and Arkah closed the concil with a loud bark.

The red wolve, Aiden, looked at the block of ice and blew out a long breath, fire following the air and melting the ice to free the dear to be carried back. Tirzah blew out her own breath and dried the beast of the melted water with wind and a brown wolfe went over and lifted the beast in his jaws as if it were nothing. They all waited for Arkah and Tirzah to take the lead and headed back to see their charge.

It was late when Argus walked into the in. But that did not stop the people that came to The Siren's Call. Argus Walked to the bar and took a seat. He could not help but smile, The irony that The Siren's Call was run by a real siren. Who would have thought. Well now he did. And he had the scars to prove it.

The tavern was big, having 20 tables, each with six chairs. spread out across the floor. At the back was a stage, where a band was currently preforming. And on the opposite side, the bar was aligned. There was a door at the end that led to the kitchen. Along the walls there were smaller tables that were separated by smaller extensive walls. They could be closed for privacy.

They , however were all open at the moment. Every chair in the bar was filled. Men and women of all ages had come to watch the show. The bar tender came to Argus. He ordered a drink and flipped him a gold coin. The barman came and left. Argus was busy scanning the room for possible threats.

He barely noticed that the light was being dimmed. It was then that a woman came out on stage. "Averus." The woman wore a very scandals red dress that seemed to reveal everything and nothing at the same time. Her body screamed sensuality, from her legs to her lips. He red hair flowed down in weaves to her waist, and she wore a blue seashell in her hair. Every man and some of the women wanted her, Little did they know they problem wouldn't survive the night.

Her Sea Green eyes scanned the room and meet with argus. She deemed a smile that made her look even more beautiful, and then she started to sing. If the audience wasn't captivated with her before, now they all were staring at her. The sirens call, The voice of a goddess. known to be one of the most beautiful and deadly sounds in the world.

The crowd lost themselves in her song, some even getting up trying to get on the stage, only to be pushed back by handlers. She sang for about five minutes, and when she finished. the crowd cheered for more. She gave the signal for the band to play, and the crowd, saddened, went back to their conversations. Averus stepped off the stage, and started to make her way to Argus, stopping several times to talk to men and women who "offered" themselves to her.

"Well its nice to see you are keeping busy. Its amazing you have not been caught yet." Argus said when she was in hearing distance. Averus walked up to him and took his face in her hands, "They don't ever suspect a thing," She dragged her nail down the side of his cheek, cutting it, "As long as they are alive at the nights end. And memories erased of course."

She let go and took a seat beside him. He wiped the blood from his face. "What can i do for the one who got away. Your not here for another night of fun are you?" averus said in a sarcastic manner. Argus could not help but laugh. "No, im still recovering from the last spout of "fun" we had." See smiled again to and took his hand. "Well if ever... no probably not, What can i help you with. Its been three years." Argus took his hand away. "I need your help, i need to find a seerer. The sooner the better."

"I can arrange that. But it will cost you." Argus sighed. "How much." Averus wiggled a bit and moved closer. "You know i could do it for free if you just "Stayed" for the night." Argus shivered. "No i like my blood. How much?" Averus back away and crossed her arms scowling. "Fine, two bars, have it here by tomorrow." "Done."

With that Averus stood. She walked behind him and put her hands on his shoulders. "Do stay, the drinks are on me." and she walked off charming the other patrons. He was out the door before she was a foot away.

After her soak in the hot water, Keira had felt her way back to her tiny cabin and curled up in her bed to sleep. The wolves had made her a bed of fur pelts, she wasn't sure how, and assumed they had stolen the pelts from a hunter or something.

She lay there for nearly half an hour before finally drifted off...She always loved sleep, when she slept the world exploded with colors and shapes and sights she could never remember having seen before. She saw her wolves, her family, she saw her cabin and the land surrounding...It was beautiful. It was beautiful and the only time she ever experienced it was when she slept, in her dreams.

Usually these dreams, these scenes were peaceful, beautiful and normal...bright. This time, however, she was met with as much darkness as she saw in her conscious moments. She was startled by the fact, and turned in a circle, rubbing at her eyes until she finally saw something. Purple clouds swirled angrily and lighting flashed, outlining mountains and jagged cliffs. Fear welled up within the girl's stomach, knotting in her throat. The figure of a man stood at the edge of the cliff, looking down at her...his eyes sad...

She moved a step toward him, feeling as though she knew him, the scene changed so quickly her breath caught in her throat. Creatures, soldiers, so many things were closing in on him and he was motioning for her to run, trying to get to her...she did run. She ran for him and as soon as she was within finger's distance of him, arrows and any other arsenal you could think of were let loose upon them...the darts struck as they fell against each other... and Keira cried out.

Around her sleeping form, items and furniture began to levitate, outside the cabin, rocks and sticks and leaves...

The wolf pack was a mile away, making their way back leisurely until Tirzah suddenly stopped. Her nose went up in the air, her ears perked.

"What is it?" Arkah asked her softly.

Tirzah's head tilted curiously, like a puppy who doesn't understand, her eyes narrowed. "...Something isn't right..." A scream, weak at the distance, could be heard coming from the cabin and Tirzah gasped. "Keira!" Arkah released a long, strong, howl and they were off as fast as they could go.

Argus was already on his seventh mug of what the bartender called dwarven fire ale. The name suited it. He was sure the dwarves made it and was pretty sure it was flammable. But it was cheap and got him really drunk. The bar he was in, if you could call it that, was located in the worst part of town. There were maybe 3 tables, and 4 bar stools. It had no flooring, being built directly on the dirt, making everything in it seem dirty. He did not see any rats or mice, however the amount of tom cats around implied that they were there.

Balding shapely old fellow, And his old long time friend. Oren Stratcher, at one time had been the best blacksmith in the business. But like all things go, he eventually was over taken by a competitor. He had lost almost everything but this old bar that his dad once owned. Back when this part of the city was respectable. Now calling it a dump would be a compliment. But this is the only place that Argus felt safe getting drunk. "What is the matter old friend. I have not seen you hear in 5 years. Never this drunk this fast."

"I am not drunk!" Argus slurred. It was however plainly obvious he was. Argus was not even sure he could make it to the door without falling over. "I got bad news from a seerer." Argus bent over the table as if to whisper a secret. "They told me i'd have to die, else suffer a fate worse than death. They said the choice would not be my own." Argus bent back up and lost his balance, he began to fall backwards, Oren quickly grabbed him by the shirt and hauled him back up. "That enough for you. You know the future isn't written, The fact that they told you that means it can be changed. I'm Not sure you want to change it." Oren stared at him with accusing eyes. Argus just snarled. And took another swig of the drink.

"What did they tell you?" Argus shook the mug at him, Oren took it and filled it with water. Assured that he wouldn't know the difference at this point. "He started talking about what happened three years ago, With Marcus, How we only delayed it. He Said that with in a month i would start showing signs of the curse." Oren watch him swig down the water. He was right, Did not know the difference. He was going to have to put up the cot in the back again. "They said i could stop it, But I need to find the orb of the ages. Its been missing since the first century war. That was over 2000 years ago." He took another swig. "Who is they?" oren asked. "The seerer man. have you not been listening."

Argus then feel off his chair. Oren rushed to the other side and picked him up off the floor. "Come on, time to sleep it off." Argus started to say "im not drunk" but threw up before he could finish. Oren all but dragged him to the back. Ah pulled out the cot with one hand and tossed him on it. "You can change the future you know." oren said trying to be comforting. Argus didn't hear. He was already snoring.

The wolf pack slid to a halt at the hilltop overlooking the cabin. Boulders, small trees, sticks and various objects, even some globs of water were hovering above the ground several feet. Several of the wolves whimpered, but then the distressed cries coming from the cabin snapped them all into action. Tirzah bolted for the door, opening her jaws and howling a great wind to burst the portal open just before she could crash into it.

The wolf was greeted by everything in the cabin spinning and levitating and she had to dodge things flying at her in order to get to the bedside where Keira lay writhing and weeping in a tangle of animal pelts.

"Keira, you're having a nightmare, pup, wake up. You're all right..." The large white wolf crawled up on the bed beside her adopted charge and nuzzled her nose under the arm of the small girl. "Keira, you're safe, wake up..." She concentrated on making her voice penetrate whatever nightmares were attacking Keira's mind, making her voice as soft, but firm as possible. Keira stirred and slowly opened her eyes, hugging Tirzah close and hiding her face in the thick, soft coat next to her. Everything that was in the air suddenly dropped and the wolves outside yelped and dodged being crushed by boulders.

Arkah glanced back at the cabin and sighed heavily. "Let's get things set back where they belong. I'll check on the girl and come join you shortly." he directed as he padded his way to the room. "How is she?" He asked coming over to sit beside the bed.

Tirzah turned her eyes to him, but otherwise didnt' move, not wanting to disturb Keira. "She's very shaken up. I don't know what she saw..." She lickd Keira's hand gently. "Arkah, we need to get her to someone who can help her...if the dreams have begun...she needs to be retrained...they will only get worse..."

Arkah nodded, sighing. His mate was right, but he had no idea where to even begin searching.

Commander Travus looked out from the north tower over the courtyard into the castle gardens. The princess, And her loyal Guard where there, enjoying the day. As of tomorrow she would turn 18, and through various different methods, would be crowned shortly after. Travus did not like it but he had no other choice. "She will make a good queen you know."

Travus's heart jumped to his throat and he drew his sword as he spun around. "You have a lot of nerve showing up here seer." Radim Bast was a small man, thin and had graying hair. He had escaped the purge, though how travus was not sure, but unlike other mages, or magic wielders the magic seemed to consume him. He maybe had a year left. Or he looked that way.

Radim smiled and touched the edge of the sword that was at his throat. Electricity sparked through it, and Travus dropped it. Grabbing his hand in pain he showed nothing on his face. "There is no need for that." He walked over and pulled a chair from the wall and sat down. Breathing heavily as if running for miles.

Travus Scooped up his sword and sheathed it, "What do you want?". Radim eyes gleamed. "I came hear to warn you. Your fate is aligning with those you would not expect." Travus snarled. "What is that suppose to mean." Radim leaned forward. "I have had a vision of your future and your not going to like it. You will betray your future queen, To save her. And you will serve another."

"Madness, I served the royal family for 25 years. i would never betray them. I serve no other." Radim Smiled. "Who said anything about them not being part of the royal line." Travus gave Radium a dangerous look, "You truly speak blasphemy, The prince is dead." Radim sat back, "Is he now, I guess your going to find out." With that Radim's body seemed to flash black and dissolved as if nothing was ever there. "Enjoy yourself while you can."

Travus turned back to the window and looked out over the garden. He clenched and unclenched his hand. "I will never betray you. I swear it."

Once everything was set back in place to the best of their ability, the wolf pack convened yet another council. Tirzah had remained with Keira who was too shaken up to leave her cabin, leaving Arkah to lead alone.

They discussed the changes that had so many of them on edge for so many different reasons and, in the end, it was decided to send an envoy to find a fellow Seer and bring them back to the cabin in order to help their young charge.

In the end, the blonde wolfe, Rama, was sent after volunteering and she quickly made set off, leaving a whimpering and worried, Ickarus to watch her go.

The city was nearly seven miles away, depending on her choice of travel. For now, however, Rama would merely run. It wouldn't take long. The tricky part would be finding her way inside and sniffing out one of those seers if there were anymore to be sniffed.

After nearly two hours, Rama could see the city walls and she paused to rest. She stretched out her neck and let out a long, beautiful cry, lacing in with its sound her search. If there were any mage or seer nearby, and they heard it, they would be able to tell just what sort of wolf she was and, hopefully, they would be seeking her out as much as she was them.

After another moment, Rama took off trotting for the castle wall, keeping out of sight of the watchmen that walked back and forth. Getting into this city without alerting the guard or finding herself in a fight...or skeward, would be the hardest part.

She followed the wall around until she found a hole, barred off to allow water to drain out of the city when it rained. Smirking, she touched her nose to the ground and stepped back, her eyes glowing in the moonlight. A few seconds passed and then the ground trembled slightly under her feet. Two thick vines came out of the ground, as thick as she was, and wrapped around two of the bars, pulling them apart enough for her to squeeze through. Once she was in, the Rama glanced back and the vines returned to the earth and the dirt covered over the holes they had made.

Perhaps getting in wasn't so difficult after all...now to just keep out of sight enough to find the seer.

The howl echoed through the city. And reverberated of walls reaching all who could hear it. Vee Sprung to his feet Instantly. He scanned the room. The princess was asleep on her bed. Golden hair flowing from over the covers, her innocent face looked peaceful. He sniffed the air, Two guards still stationed outside the door.

He walked forward to the door and looked around the room one more time before exiting. When he charged out, like always, the guards jumped. No matter how many time you see a 8 foot saber tooth white tiger, you never get use to it. He turned and gave them each a look that said "IF she is hurt your next", before heading down the tower. He had to get outside, Then he might be able to get a better perspective of what was happening.

It was rare for any of the feral to come into the city. Besides him there was only two or three that lived within the city. One was in the sewers. The other was bonded to a healing magus. He walked down the courtyard and up the top of the barricade wall. Looking out across the city, Most were asleep now. Very little torch light, But with a full moon it was well lit.

Captain Travus walked up behind him and almost tripped over him. His hand went for his sword, but then stopped when he realized who it was. "Vee, why aren't you with the princess? What is wrong?" Vee just gave him a look that said "Do not question me," and jumped off the wall. A 30 foot drop, and when he landed the stone turned into soft mud, then rock hard again. Vee's footprints now imprinted there. He trotted off

The captain watched him go, "Damn tiger. Scares me half to death." He thought about going back to his bed however he set a double watch instead. When The tiger is awake, Something could go wrong. Past experience says better safe than sorry. So he went to the guard shack and sat. He would wait till Vee got back. *Always better safe than sorry.*

Rama was nearing the center of the city, padding her way cautiously to avoid the sentries that stood guard at various street corners. She was grateful they were poorly educated and not expecting to see anything like her nearby.

She was graceful as the golden shimmer of her fur caught the moonlight. Keeping close to the walls, Rama practically danced around corners and obstacles, sniffing the air and feeling the earth between her paws as she hunted for her target.

Nearing the city square, however, she halted, frozen in a pointer's position as her head tilted curiously. She sniffed, perked her ears and listened. She had disturbed something old, older than her, and bigger...much bigger. The wolf gulped back the instinct to run, she was no normal wolf, they were a proud pack, an ancient pack...of which...she happened to be the youngest. With a low growl at herself, she walked on, but in the direction of the being searching for her, its scent carrying its direction to her on the wind.

Vee sniffed the air again. He realized quickly that the feral was coming towards him now. Well that just saves him time. So instead of meeting it half way he took a left to a central garden area of the city. He jumped the giant metal fence and walked to an area covered in every type of flora imaginable. A testament to what once was. Also a place that humans did not disturb at night.

He walked to a paved area, with a giant statue of some hero forgotten in the middle surrounded by benches. He chose one and layed down. He figured he had about five minutes before it got there, So he started to clean himself. He loved this area of the city. It reminded him of what this area use to be.

Once forest, and trees grew here, He once knew Their names. was friends with them. But then a man came. The first king, and everything changed. His people were on the run from a terrible curse on the land and begged the feral for sanctuary. They agreed, but only if one of royalty would bond with a feral every generation. So they would never forget the pact made so many years ago.

Vee had been with them for years, And though he missed his forest, he would not change things. He found humans to interesting to do that. He groaned. and laid back against the chair. Paws hanging off the bench and tail twitching. he waited.
