It's that time of year again. christmas time! :] or should i say happy holidays..
i don't know about you guys, but i don't see why people get offended by "merry christmas". yes, i know people have their beliefs, and different holidays, and such. but it seems like now a days you can't say something without offending someone. what ever happened to freedom of speech?
my town has had a chirstmas parade every year for the past 25 years. and this year they couldn't get the funding for it because it was called "christmas parade". i find that really pathetic.
if you don't celebrate the holiday then just politely say thank you, and don't pay attention to it. everyone has to except the fact that everyone has different beliefs. i don't get offended if someone says happy ______. and i don't celebrate it, they're just trying to be nice.
i definetly go with merry christmas. what do you guys think?

I don't see a problem with saying "Merry Christmas". Like you said, not everyone celebrates it, but that doesn't mean we should back down to keep from offending people. I'm not Christian, but I don't complain when people say "bless you" after I sneeze. I personally say "gesundheit" when someone sneezes, but I'm not going to demand that other people say it just because I don't like the religious connotation of "bless you". It's the same thing with Christmas: if you don't celebrate it, fine. Politely nod and move along. Don't throw a fit when people say "Merry Christmas" and demand that they instead wish you a "Happy Hanukkah".

These little knights... "Merry Christmas!" It's been a traditional holiday greeting for many ages. Yes, during those times Christianity was the prime religion and if you did not practice THEN YOU WOULD BURN IN HELL!! So aside from being coxed by the threats of burning in some imaginary place, people have always said because it was simply tradition. No one who didn't practice the Christian religion ever made a big deal about it until recent history, where the people have grown to be whiny, demanding, spineless, and bratty (but this is for another debate). With people degrading to the levels of spoiled brats, they begin to think, "Ya know what? I want to make a big deal about something because I don't totally agree with it!" It's just like when a teacher in my school tries to punish a child or children for doing something wrong. They retaliate because they're being punished for being s**t heads. So why the issue on Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays? Because you get religiously devoted s**t heads doing the same exact thing, but in a different field.
My word: It's Merry Christmas. It always has been, and always will be. People need to pick up a book (*GASP!* READING?! OMG SHE'S SUGGESTING READING! *group panic*), and read a funny little fact... The earth, the universe...Nothing revolves around you. It's been proved. The earth revolves around the sun. Anything beyond that, I personally do not know. I do know for a fact nothing revolves around you except yourself. ...will rock your world

I think it would depend on where it is, like I celebrate Christmas but i am Pagan, meaning i don't celebrate the Christian part of it. Now when i see the large letters about Christmas everywhere it can get annoying. its nice to see Happy Holidays in stores because it just means that maybe someone else is not afraid to show that they do not follow Christmas..
so for Christmas parades, there should be no reason why that is bad. its something that people like seeing, all kids (even those who are not following Christianity, Love Santa) its for them, not for the older people who get mad at someone bringing up religion.
There is my two since hope people thing I make a good point

Seriously, people, get your heads out of your respective... places... and stop making a turd out of yourself for no freaking reason! The human is a melting pot. That being said, we should be able to coexist (relatively speaking) peacefully if people would just learn not to take so much offense just because somebody believes something different. Besides, it's the holiday season. If not for your own retarded sake, then think of the children... or the puppies, or bunnies, or whatever... and just stop your fighting for a brief respite, k? *shakes head* Jack@$$es... stare

This will probably be the shortest post I've ever made in a debate; I think it's the religious prefrence of the person wishing it, not the person receiving it. Beggers can't be choosers, as they say. So much for the spirit of christmahannakwanzikah. Or Dec. 25th for Atheists. Okken Rule #1 to finding your religion; Realizing that you are, and always will be, wrong. My beliefs are beyond explaining here, but one of them includes the knowledge that there is no one correct religion. No ones ignorance should be offended by anyone elses.
