Rein breathed into her hands before tucking them back into her pockets. The weather had begun to cool a considerable amount the past few weeks and it was hard for the woman to adjust. She would have loved to stayed in her nice cozy shop and pour herself a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Her graze traveled over to the bubbly girl skipping ahead.
"Luska, slow down! The stores don't close for at least several more hours so don't walk too fast." Rein called out as she tugged her jacket closer to her body.
The child turned her body half way towards her guardian and she smiled brightly. "Momma, hurry up!" She exclaims before quickly picking up her pace. Clearly the girl wouldn't listen. That only meant Rein had to walk a little faster to keep up. Maybe moving more would make her feel warmer...

If there was one thing he disliked more than large crowds of loud people, it had to be the cold that came about with winter. At least with the cold, the amount of people wandering around lessened a bit. That is, until the Christmas sales started up.
Which was why Cody was huddled outside of a store, wings occasionally stretching or flapping to warm up. There were far too many staring faces in the store anyways and the cold wasn't really THAT bad, he supposed. It was just the fact that it was too uncomfortable to fold his wings up in his jacket that made it seem that way. It wasn't like his wings could keep themselves warm, like the feathery ones most kids from the facility seemed to have
A voice floated through the grumpy haze and pricked the pre-teens curiosity. He recognized it a bit and as he glanced down the sidewalk, the spawn couldn't help but straighten up a bit. Those feathered ears were so familiar... Something about a museum. Cody sighed and leaned back against the wall again, struggling once more to remember more to the girl's name then the fact that it started with an "L".

Occasionally, Luska would halt in her steps to peer into the windows to admire some of the items that would always be put out for display. When Rein finally caught up, the woman would be assaulted with questions and pleading from the child.
It would always be "Can I get this?" or "Aww, how cute! I want it, please?" or something along the lines of those.
But every time Rein finally got the okay, she'd quickly turn her head and found something else that really perked her interest causing the girl to speed towards it.
But what stopped Luska in her tracks this time wasn't an item. Instead, it was a person. A boy to be more specific. The child tilted her head to the side as as she observed him for a while as if she was trying to recall who this person might be. He possessed odd features so that must mean he had come from the same place she did. Her eyes widened when she saw the feathers adorning the boy's hair.
She'd met only a few people, but the only person who had such pretty colored feathers in his hair was Cody. It had been a long while since the two met, and their last meeting didn't quite end nicely. At least not as nice as Luska had hoped anyway.
"Cody is that you?!" She exclaims out of excitement and rushed over to him. "You've gotten bigger again!"

Cody jumped slightly at the sudden burst of sound and looked down at Luska, a small smile forming on his face. Ah, now that she was closer he DID remember her and the little incident at the museum. Oh how fun that had been, trying to steal that necklace from the display.
"Luska! Yes it is me and yes I've grown. I see you have as well," the spawn replied, removing himself from the wall to get a better look at her. There was no mistaking those feathered ears, that was for sure. Cody only knew one person with feathers on their ears and that person was standing a couple feet in front of him.
"Shopping, I assume?" he asked, a hint of displeasure at the very thought of shopping creeping into his voice. There was simply too many people involved for his taste.

Luska beamed happily at being recognized. The only thing that stopped her from tackling the boy down with a big hug was the fact that she remembered her manners. "Oh yeah! Lulu's doing shopping right now with Mommy!" She says and nods. Though the two haven't actually bought anything which totally defeats the purpose of "Shopping".
"What's Cody doing out here?" Luska asked curiously. She yelps in surprise when the girl felt herself being pulled back with a sharp tug. The child pouted upon realizing that it was only Rein, and said guardian didn't look quite pleased at all.
"Luska, I told you not to run off! You'll get into a lot of trouble that way!" Rein scolded, keeping firm hold on the girl's shoulder. She then looked straight ahead and her expression immediately softened. "O-oh, hello...!"

Cody shrugged, smiling slightly as Rein finally noticed him. "Hi Rein," the pre-teen greeted before turning his gaze back to Luska. "What am I doing? Avoiding the crazies inside the shops, that's what," he replied, chuckling softly to himself. It was true, though, that they were a bit... Crazy. Not to mention pushy, loud, and just downright rude. But hey, if they lost a wallet or two he wasn't concerned.
"So, if you two are shopping, why aren't you buying anything?" he teased, pondering what he could steal without anyone noticing. Nah, not worth it with Luska and her mum around.

"It's nice to see you again, Cody. You seem to be doing well!" Rein says and smiles a little. The boy had grown a lot since the last time she'd seen him. "Shadai isn't with you today?"
Luska huffs and crosses her arms over her chest. "Lulu is trying hard to find the perfect gift but hasn't found it yet..." She explains. Every time the two come across something, there would always be something even better waiting at the next shop.

"No Rein, she had to babysit my brother and Aenira," Cody replied, unable to help the soft smile that floated to his lips. "Well, then how about I help you find that gift?" he asked Luska, unable to help himself. It was extremely hard not to give into some sort of hidden demand with her looking that cute.
"I've got nothing better to do and it is quite cold out here," he added, hoping to make it seem as if it was no trouble at all to help the two.

"Ahh, I see." It would make sense after all. The boy is now much more maturer compared to the last time they had met. Of course, the older children become, the more independent they will be as well. Eventually, Luska would get older and would possibly become that way as well.
"Ehh?! Cody will help Lulu and mommy shop?!" The girl exclaimed out loud. She quickly turned towards her guardian and mustered the best pleading puppy-face. If Rein hadn't known any better, she'd think that Luska had been busy practicing these faces in the mirror when the woman wasn't looking.
"Can Cody join us?! Huh, huh?! Can he, can he?! Please, please, please?!"
And could Rein possibly deny her? Of course not. "Of course you can help us, Cody" She says and smiled nervously as she tried to calm down the overly excited girl.
"Yay! Cody can come with us!!! Yay!!"

Cody laughed, unable to help himself at Luska's excitement. "Awesome," the pre-teen commented as his laughter finally stopped. "So, which shop first?" he asked, somehow becoming excited himself at the thought of shopping. Although, his thoughts weren't on the shopping part, but more the stealing part. He had shoplifted before, and found it immensely easy to get away with depending on the type of shop and which item he attempted to steal.

"Lulu and mommy has already been to those shops" Luska replies, making gestures towards several of the shops behind her. She looked around until she spotted a shop that were selling little trinkets and accessories. The items displayed by the window were some jewelery and glass menageries.
"There! Let's go there!" Luska points towards the shop.
"Don't run Luska!" Rein warned, but was obviously ignored as the child made a dash towards the store. The woman sighs heavily and shrugged. "Silly troublesome girl..." Turning towards Cody, she smiles apologetically and says, "We should probably catch up with her before she ends up getting herself into trouble," before quickly following after the hyper child.

Cody just smiled and nodded, quickly following after Luska after realizing what shop she was heading to. The objects were pretty, but didn't have that aura that some things had. Oh well, better to have something pretty than something dull, right?
"Luska! Wait up!" he called out, trying to catch up to the younger spawn. Apparently a height advantage meant NOTHING in a race.

Luska giggled when she looked over her shoulder. She'd managed to reach the shop faster than Cody and Rein. But in their defense, the girl did take a head start. "Slow pokes~! Hurry!" She exclaims in rushed into the store without waiting for them.
Luska had already started gathering several trinkets in her arms, some of which she randomly grabbed because they looked pretty. While others were just taken because she didn't happen to have it. She would have nearly dropped everything in her arms upon spotting something that really caught her eye; a pink crystal flower hairpin. The hair pin was pretty. The light that shone over it made it sparkle. Not to mention, the color was pink; Luska's favorite color!
Just in time too since Rein had finally arrived to the scene!
"Mommy, look at this! It's so pretty! I want it!" She exclaims gesturing towards the pin with her tail since her hands were full.
"Dear, we are Christmas shopping. We are buying for other people, not for ourselves!"
Luska puffed her cheeks out as she pouted. "Nooo~!" She whines. "Then someone else will get it and then Lulu won't have it!" She looked over towards Cody. "Cody, Lulu should have the flower pin right?! It'll make Lulu prettier!"

Cody reached the store at roughly the same time as Rein, panting and forced to lean against a wall in order to catch his breath. And for Luska to spazz over a pink hairpin and ask his opinion. Uh-oh...
"Well, it is pretty..." he replied, slowly moving over to the shelf where it was and glancing it over. It wasn't too expensive, and was pretty nice to look at. "How about this; instead of me having to go against your mother's wishes, I'll buy it for you as a Christmas gift. Fair?" he asked and glanced between the two, wondering if he could get away with just stealing it... Nah, not with Luska and her mother around. The older woman didn't seem to miss a beat and would certainly notice he didn't pay for it even if Luska didn't say anything and the alarms didn't go off. He could steal things pretty well, it was the stealth part that got him usually as the alarms WERE pretty loud.
Oh well, he could steal something else later to make up for the loss in money. Or tell his mom and get his money back. She'd definitely be proud he didn't just take it.
