Aurelie walked along the shoreline, enjoying the calm breeze and the splashing of the waves. After a while, she stopped, poking the wet sand with her forepaw. Suddenly, a wave came onto shore, splashing her with its salty foam. The sapling let out a shriek of laughter, retreating to where the wave wouldn't reach her before going back to poke at the sand again.

The dread pirate Greyfang, conked out in the sand, was being exceptionally lazy that day. He'd recently come off a bad encounter with a hungry kraken (though those around him SWORE it was just a baby octopus), and he felt that his bravery deserved some rest and relaxation. A bit of shore leave, if you would. However, just as he began to drift off into a deeper sleep, a shimmer of something further down the beach caught his eye. There was no mistaking it! Gold! A pirate loved nothing more than gold! It was the first rule! And Greyfang wasn't a cap'n for nothing! With surprising speed and agility, he dashed to his paws, flinging sand everywhere as he tried to run on the loose sand towards the glimmer. However, as the dramatic accent lighting revealed, the shimmer on the sand was not a sapling-shaped nugget, but a female-shaped sapling. He didn't know her, and she didn't smell like a relative and she certainly wasn't another pirate. And she wasn't actually gold. "Yer on mah beach," he said gruffly, entirely disappointed. He'd woken up for a wench? At least she looked golden.

Aurelie retreated a few steps back in surprise. "I-I didn't know..." she said, slightly confused wondering why he was running towards her before. "I'll leave now..." she said with an apologetic smile. She straightened herself up, shaking the sand out from her golden leaves and paws. "Though..." she cast him a curious glance, "I didn't know you could own a beach."

The Cap'n shook his head vigorously, spraying sand everywhere."Nay. Ye don't hafta leave," he said, staring at her and kicking himself in the face for it. "I just thought you should know. That it's mah beach." Now that he wasn't so groggy, he could get a better look at her. Though she wasn't actually made of gold, dear god did she look it. Did gold pieces come to life? Maybe he was delusional, but for a wench, at least she wasn't sore on the eyes. "I won th' beach, y'see. From another pirate. It was his beach, then I kicked his arse to the northern isle and back, so now it be mah beach." He paused. "It be a good beach. There be buried treasure in these sands. An' th' parrots are slow an' stupid." Why was he telling this random wench all this? Stupid, stupid stupid, now she'll want to stay an' this is MAH BEACH! Growling under his breath, the pirate flopped to his haunches. "'m Greyfang. Cap'n Greyfang."
He'd introduced himself? Something was not right here. And it was probably the fault of the gold-colored wench. Arr. Wenches.

"That's awfully impressive." Aurelie said, sitting down on her haunches as she pawed at the sand around her. "Have you found the treasure?" she looked to Cap'n. smiling, "My name's Aurelie. It's nice to meet you on your beach Cap'n Greyfang." the golden leaves on her rustled in the breeze as a few drifted down to the sand around her. She couldn't quite tell if the male sapling was annoyed or not as he huffed and growled but he still talked to her, so she assumed that he wasn't that annoyed at her.

"Aye. Some of it I buried mahself, some of it I found." Greyfang's eyes focused on the leaves as they fluttered to the ground. Gold. Shiny. Very shiny. A light flashed in his eyes- either a reflection from the gold leaves, or inspiration. "Say. Aurelie." That... that was fancy talk for golden, wasn't it. Oh god. "Wanna see some o' th' buried treasure?" His voice was gruff, but in truth, he was somewhat flattered. Not every day a shiny gold wench called you impressive. "I put some a bit yonder." Was his brain where it should be, he would never have offered to show a complete stranger one of his stashes. But today... today was not a normal day. Not. At. All.

Aurelie's eyes glittered with excitement, "I would love to see some!" the female sapling stood up, circling around Greyfang much like an excited dog as she looked around wondering where it would be. The male's gruffness aside, she was truly curious and excited to see what this treasure would look like. Picking up a golden paw, she pointed in a random direction, itching to go, "Is it this way?" she asked.

The beach was absolutely littered with the grumpy pirate's treasures; if you threw a stick in any direction, it would probably land near a chest. Some chests were completely empty; others, filled to the brim with gold pieces or priceless jewels. As the shimmering female bounced around Greyfang, he tried to think. It wasn't easy; she looked like a golden idol hopping this way and that. "Aye. If we walk about fifty paces yonder and dig for a while, we'll hit a cache. Iffen you'll follow me, I'll show you how to dig it up right and proper." As he stalked off towards the location of the cache, the wheels in his head ground to a halt. No more thinking for now. He knew that what he was doing was incredibly stupid. But, oddly enough, he didn't mind. What was buried in the place he was thinking of was nothing more than a small wooden chest of gems- lapis, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, the like- and various bits of jewelry. None of his precious gold was in there. Not even this Aurelie-inspired twitterpation would get him to part with his precious doubloons!

She followed after him, staying close to him. "There's a way to dig up the chests?" Aurelie inquired, not realizing that the life of a pirate would be so complicated. It was odd, she had thought that they would be a mean bunch, having no regards for others and only caring about themselves and whatever they could find. But she had been wrong, seeing Cap'n Greyfang, she realized they probably weren't so bad at all. "So...what kind of treasure do you have Cap'n Greyfang?" as she walked along with him, the sun reflecting off her golden markings.

"Most anything and everything. Jewels, gems, jewelry, gold and silver and copper, all sorts of things. The one we be goin' for is a stash of precious gems, all cut nicely. I took it, in one o' mah battles with the Dread Pirate Finnamast. Real piece o' work, that'un. But it ain't a matter." Greyfang snuck a look at her out of the corner of his eye. Damn. That wench really was shiny. "We're nearin' the spot. You ever dig up anythin' before? There's a way to dig out a treasure chest. You gotta dig out, not just straight down. That way, yer hole don't collapse." Oh Greyfang. What would the others say if they saw you goin' this barmy over a wench?
They wouldn't say anything. Because the wench in question was made of gold.

"Wow. You have all of that?" she said in awe, "You must've won a lot of battles for them then I guess?" As with being not that bad of a sapling, she guessed, he was also pretty powerful for one. "So you must be pretty powerful if you beat this Dread Pirate Finnamast, right?" Aurelie looked at him, extremely impressed at the Greyfang.
She shook her head, "I haven't really dug out anything before...just small roots from the ground, but that's about it..." she smiled bashfully at Greyfang. "I must seem pretty annoying to you..." Aurelie couldn't help but feel a little worthless next to Greyfang. He had done all of these cool and interesting things, and here she was. Not having done much in her life.
