There was still no telling what was going to happen. The ugly purple bruise surrounding the bandages on his finger was testament to that. Everything and everyone was unpredictable. Ever so slowly, he'd made his way towards the locker room, hoping that one of the faucets still worked so he could wash off the bite wound before he got whatever infection decided to take hold.

He quickly made his way over to the long, white porcelain sink. Surprisingly, it seemed to be the only thing that wasn't caked in a fine layer of soot. If only the water was still going. With his pool stick leaning against the sink, Topher wished for water as hard as he could before gripping the handle. The faucet refused to kick on as he wiggled the small lever, only giving a quick blast of brownish water before slowly to little more than a trickle. His expression darkened, bloodshot eyes focusing on the steady flow of water. It would have to do. Anything was better than walking around without washing. The teen slowly unwrapped the bandages keeping the wound from continuing to bleed, wincing every so often at the pulling of raw skin. Still, it felt good to have water over it and getting whatever had dried off of his hands.

After that task was decidedly done and he'd haphazardly bandaged the injured digit with the last of the gauze he'd taken from the nurses office, he thought of his next task. Finding other people. It wouldn't do him any good to sit there by himself. Being alone with something like this happening was a one way ticket to insanity.

The teen quickly took the pool stick in hand, starring down at it despairingly. Even though Yvette's crying was still ringing in his ears and the state of her eyes was burned into the back of his mind, he continued on and cautiously poked his head out of the locker room.

The locker rooms. There were always people there. Maybe she'd find someone...someone who didn't deserve to live. Someone who she wouldn't feel as guilty if she finally gave in to this horrible hunger. Kimmie felt tears sting her eyes as she fumbled through the showers, pulling back each curtain in turn, hoping to find someone disgusting. Someone who was so evil they didn't deserve to live. Kimmie didn't want to hurt anyone, but the hunger, it just hurt so bad! One bite, that was all. One bite and maybe the pain would fade a little, leave...maybe.

She heard a noise and froze, holding her breath as she crept around the corner, watching as a boy entered the room. A familiar face...she'd seen him before! Talked to him! It was Topher, that nice boy she'd walked back from her diving practice with. ...The one she'd liked, kinda. She held back a sob, a sudden want coursing through her. A wish that life would go back to that, go back to what it was. But it wouldn't, and she knew it.

He seemed to be injured. She felt remorse, but followed him as he began to leave, stumbling, making noise. She hoped he didn't attack, she didn't want to hurt him. "To...Topher!"

Noises? Topher stopped in his tracks just outside the door. Was someone following him? At the sound of his name, he quickly doubled back into the doorway, a look of confusion plastered on his face. Obviously, without seeing anyone since the night of the fire, he'd gotten used to having the school all to himself. Even if "all to himself" meant sitting in the corner of an abandoned classroom.

He gave the room a quick glance, stumbling back in surprise when he finally noticed her. "Kimmie?..." He'd remembered their conversation that one night that seemed like forever ago. At least it was someone he actually knew by name instead of some hallway acquaintance he'd have to take a good hour getting to know. The blue haired teen took a few hesitant steps towards her, studying her form even as his movements ceased. As much as he wanted to be close to someone he knew, the memories from before kept him at a stranger's distance. Yvette had been the same way. Someone welcomed in the most dire of situations and yet, she'd turned on him the moment he'd got too comfortable around her. He wouldn't make that mistake again. The twitching sting in his hand as he gripped the pool cue at his side that much tighter sent a crystal clear message to any feeling of familiarity.

A nervous smile was all he could muster with that in mind. "How long have you been there? Are you alone?"

He...he recognized her! Finally a familiar face, and he recognized her too. She let a sob out, making as if to dash forwards before realizing that might not be a good idea. What if he attacked her, like that other boy had? She stopped in her tracks, eyes shining as she watched him, searching for an answer. Was he good, bad? He didn't seem bad. He looked like he wanted to give her a chance, but she didn't know. All of her hope had been crushed, a long time ago.

How long had she been here? "I...I don't know," she choked, shivering a little as she suddenly felt icy cold. She'd lost track of time. She barely knew whether it was night or day. Let alone the day of the week, the date, or anything of the sort. She gave a shuddering, slow nod in response to his second question, followed by her voice, "Y-Yeah...Why?"

His entire body tensed when she moved forward. The instant flow of adrenaline triggered by the fight or flight instinct in his brain. She wasn't outright coming towards him. Nothing about her seemed threatening at all but that wasn't stopping him from making sure the doorway was still directly behind him.

Topher took another small step forward, trying his best to seem as calm as possible. "Sorry. I was just worried that someone else was watching me or something. I just came in here to try and patch my hand up after...," voice wavering a bit in his nervousness. Should he say something? He certainly wanted to but it felt like it was so hard to trust anyone at that point. Maybe Kimmie really was like him and just trying to figure out what was going on herself. She would have to know what was going on right? He couldn't just leave without making sure she kept herself safe...or was she sick too? He wanted to get the thought out of his head but he figured that doubt was the only thing keeping him from getting his hand torn off.

He sighed deeply, running his free hand through his hair, still unsure of everything. "Honestly, I'm just glad to see someone else. I mean, I haven't seen anyone besides Yvette but she was sick or something..."

He stepped towards her, and she felt a little flutter of happiness in her chest. She herself took another tiny shuffling step, trying to smile. He was worried someone else was watching? Who else could be watching? Those people walking around in uniforms, that seemed to be able to control them? She shuddered again at the thought, honestly hoping she never ran into one. Not being able to control your own actions...surely there was nothing worse.

Although she had an inkling of what it might feel like. Hunger pangs rolled through her body, getting stronger and stronger as she refused to satisfy them, and she felt like she wouldn't be able to hold them back much longer. But not Topher...no, she was determined it wouldn't be Topher. Patch his hand up? Oh no...she suddenly became quite aware of the coppery smell of blood in the room, no doubt originating from his hand. She hadn't noticed before, too full of mixed emotions from meeting a familiar face. But the smell prompted stronger pains, and she doubled over, clutching her stomach as she moaned.

Yvette? Kimmie paled, especially as a sickness was mentioned. "Topher..." she mumbled, biting down hard on her bottom lip in an attempt to create some other pain, to distract her attention, "I think...I-I think I'm sick too. I...I-I think y-y-you should g-go..."

Her voice was faltering, stuttering as she struggled for control.

Sick? Was it happening again? The thought of it almost brought him to tears again. Was Kimmie actually sick like Yvette or a different kind. He hoped to whatever power was out there that is was the latter. Even though he wanted to believe it, he stumbled backwards towards the open door, leaning against the wooden doorway.

A look of worry shadowed his features, eyes focused on her and nothing else. "Like...sick, sick? Is it the flu or food poisoning or something? I know how to deal with that..." Yvette had done the exact same thing. He wasn't going to get any closer until he was certain that she didn't see him as a meal. Topher certainly didn't know what that sort of hunger felt like nor did he want to know what that type of hunger felt like. Yvette looked like she was in the worst pain of her life and Kimmie didn't look like she was too far behind that.

"I think I should go to." Topher lifted the pool stick in front of him, as he slowly back out of the doorway just in case. "Just don't come any closer. This doesn't have to happen. I know you don't want it to." Tears welled up in his eyes at the thought. "Please..."
