All righty Crew and members, what are the plans for our Holiday Celebration?

School isn't as overwhelming anymore (even though finals are coming up lol) so I'd like to help organize a Secret Santa.
I think an avatar contest would be great for recruiting members. If we had a tektek one with a Christmas theme a few of us could be judges. (I'll volunteer for that too) It might be interesting to have two sections: 5000g and under and over 5000g.
So....that's my two cents.

~Contests: I think it would be great to have a secret santa, however, I ran into a few problems when I participated in one before. : / Sometimes people weren't able to sign up until the day of, and we didn't have enough presents since no one was assigned to them. Technically it was their fault for not making it on time, but considering I helped organize the event, I still felt like a bum for not foreseeing this, and not being able to give them something. Second, some people didn't give good presents.
~So my suggestion is throwing a white elephant. That's where we have a pile of prizes, and everyone is assigned a number. Your number corresponds to the number of the present. (In our case, we could generate a random number, depending on how many presents we need, and give them to the participants.) Also, presents should be over a certain amount of gold, so people will get something genuinely nice. Not like, a dirty newspaper hat or something. confused
~Also, I'd love to see a person's own version of a Christmas Song. Like, they write their own lyrics, but we can sing it to the tune of Jingle Bells.
Example:

But do you recall, the most famous NPC of all?

I don't know if this should be a contest per say, or something that should just be for holiday cheer. What do you think?
~I agree with Mugoi, I think that an avi contest would be great for new recruits since it's easy. Also, a dice rolling contest wouldn't be so tough since it depends on the luck of the roll. And while they hang around to dice roll, they can stay and chat to get to know us and what the guild is about.
~When to run it: Maybe the week of, or week beforehand? Because New Years will be right after... Unless we wanted to do something for New Years too. Though, running the event through New Years wouldn't be bad, right? question
~Prizes: People love to see lots of cash, and expensive things like MCs... Hmm. But it would be nice if they were items that fit the season. I don't have any saved letters, but I'm willing to throw in gold say, 10,000...and I wouldn't mind getting one of those new winter items in the cash shop...or even a winter item from the gold shop... hats, scarves, santa baby coat, nutcracker stuff...
Ok, well, those are my ideas. Opinions? Oh and whatever contests need judging, I'll be happy to help. 3nodding

@Angel: I like those ideas! I don't know how to go about a white elephant online (I have trouble doing it in real life!) Your white elephant idea reminded me of something my friend in Japan is doing. He and his friends start their party off with what he calls "Sh***y Christmas" (Crappy Christmas here?). You wrap up really terrible gifts (phone books, wrappers, other garbage) and people get to pick gifts and trade just like white elephant. Except they all suck. That might be a fun game for giggles!
Also, I was thinking that we'd give the two weeks leading up to Christmas (now to the 19th) to sign up for Secret Santa. Anyone not signed up, tough noogies! Then we can assign them a person to gift (with a minimum purchase of maybe 2000g?). People can then send gifts any time until Christmas.

I'm going to flying out on the 19th/20th and that's about a week in advance. Our final week is from the 13-19th, but all the same, I'd almost like to see something going on in the middle of that so that it's more like a week and a half. If we want to do a "12 days of Celebration", then we want to start something on the 12th or something around that area.
I was also talking to Yama about a recruiting contest. People recruited would put the users name who recruited them in the "Request to Join." Users recruited would be entered into a contest to win 1 nice item. The catch: It's up to them to ask for their gift, so they must be aware of what is going on in the guild. IE: Visiting and being active. Also whomever recruits the most amount of people gets a prize. New recruits may enter this other contest too.
I'm up for a gift swap too. I already have typed out the instructions anyway.

~Those people bring/donate a present (doesn't have to be terrific, but at least over 500 gold?)
~Then we'd have to number each present accordingly in which we can use a random number generator online to pick a number from 1 to 15. That number we then give to the present until all presents are given one.
~So present #1 will go to the first person, which is Yama. Present #2, Miss Chloie. etc.
~If people get their own stuff, then we have to choose again.
If that's too complicated then maybe we should just stick to Miss Chloie's instructions on the gift swap thing. ?
And if we're going to do the 12 letters, 12 days thing, perhaps it would be good to start the 12th...though can we pull together 12 letters by that time? o.o?

Don't forget: I've already set this up. I was going to do it for the Halloween Event but no one participated. I'm thinking it was from lack of advertising. I also believe that the more complicated something is the less it'll get looked at because people are on the internet to do "fun and easy" things now a days.
