The wind brought the scents and sounds of the carnival directly to Uzi's ears and nose. It was a strange place Farstep but Uzi liked it anyways there was something different and thus pleasing about it. Though today the alter wasn't here to play, there would be no riding ferris wheels, examining the wares or watching shows. The essentic was here on a mission to learn and as was her way once set on a goal Uzi was hard pressed to be redirected. Particularly when that goal was one of self improvement.
Golden eyes narrowed Uzi walked steady and swiftly towards the center of the Carnival grounds. She needed to find someone here who made hand carves things, she was positive someone had to. When she found the right person or persons she would ask them to teach her their trade. She meant no competition by it, it was simply.. something she wanted to do and a way for her to better utilize all of the remains of her kills. If her reasons were not enough the essentic did have some money to her name with Eli now letting her trade in furs she caught on solo hunting trips.

Rory set down a crate of wood carvings on the counter of a booth, smiling at the owner as they came over. The two chatted a bit while the vendor looked through the crate. Satisfied at the selection the boy had brought, the shopkeeper handed over some money. Rory counted it off before stuffing it in the front pocket of his jeans, moving to sit on the sturdy counter by the crate he'd brought, still chatting with the vendor, picking up one of the wood carvings to toy with it idly.

It was a little strange to walk through the Carnival alone, Uzi mused a few minutes after she'd gotten into it. This place was Zia's territory but she'd come without permission and she wasn't even planning on seeking the other essentic out at the moment. Still, she didn't need distractions while on her mission so company was out
The huntress's highly sensitive ears swiveled to catch the sounds of passersby, though she could easily be any of the feline or canine like species found on Drente the essentic still had to keep an ear out for any suspicious things that might be said about her.Hearing nothing but what seemed like harmless chatter Uzi was able to focus mostly on examining each vendors wares as she walked.
Eventually she spotted a pair of men with what she wanted and strode over to them confidently. " Which one of you made that?" she asked, gesturing towards the carving in currently being fiddled with. All bluntness here no point in dancing around the subject.

Rory looked up, a little surprised at being addressed by an outsider. He was much more used to people shying away from him. The girl was strange, however, and somehow familiar as well. Holding up the carving, he tilted his head questioningly. "I made it. Why d'you ask, eh?"

"I want to learn how to do that" Uzi replied calmly keeping her voice in the more request than demand range. Now that she knew which one it was she wanted the essentic kept her golden eyes trained on him.

Rory smiled, setting the carving down. "I ain't usually up t' teachin' outsiders, but fae you, I'll be exceptin'. When did you wanna start learnin'?" He didn't figure the strange girl would really go through with it, and if she did . . . well, he could always use the money now that he has working on having a family to support.

"As soon as you have time." This was going much better than Uzi had expected, there had been no protest, no demand to know who or what she was first. The acceptance of bother her offer and herself was quite pleasing for the alter.

Thanks to the introduction of Lee--or more specifically, Lee's Essentic--Rory was used to the strange looks of, well, strange people. Besides, if the girl wanted to learn a trade and was offering to pay him, he wasn't going to turn her down. He gave an easy grin, head tilting a bit boyishly to the side. "I got time enough now, really. We can gae t' me home up on th' hill there." He gestured back to the small housing area the carnival sported. "I got me workshop an' tools set up there an' it'll be a better teachin' area than th' shop here."

Uzi debated the possible danger of being alone with the other, unless he was hiding special magical talents he was likely of little danger to her. That and she'd prefer the most useful learning environment possible, anything that made this easier without too much risk was acceptable. The alter nodded and gave a small approving noise not unlike the purr of a contented cat.
"Please lead the way,"Uzi's tail swished behind her eagerly as she spoke showing off the more canid side of her for a moment.

The young man nodded and gestured her to follow, leading the cat girl through the carnival and eventually the camps and on out to the cottages. "This 'un be me home," Rory said as they approached the cottage he shared with Lee and Lauss. "Th' workshop's round back past th' garden."
