Rejected Divinity

The years come and religions come and go...

The private room was dim and slightly cramped.

Every religion claims that their Gods are real...

A cleaver looking man began to roll the dice. "Box cars."

And maybe they are...

The first dice comes up a six and the second begins to stop on five before it moved slightly and stopped on six.

But what happens to a God after people stop believing in him?

"No fair Loki, you cheated. That doesn't count."

They continue to exist waiting for people to believe in them...

"Sorry Zeus but your no longer in charge anymore and we didn't even work together anyway."

Instead more Gods come to take their place...

The door to the room opens and a new man begins to enter, a forlorn look on his face.

But what happens when religion takes the place of Gods...

The people in the room stare at him as he moves over to the table and takes a seat.

When man stops believing in God...

"What they got you too? But people still follow that religion..."

And instead only believes in religion?

"It seems people like don't believe like they used to."

What happens to the Gods then?

Jesus then sighed and picked up the dice. "My old man will probably be in later."

Of Gods and Humans

What makes a God and how they come into existence is unknown even to the Gods themselves. All they know is that at one moment they didn't exist and in the next they did. New Gods seemed to have no trouble taking away power from the old Gods and as the new Gods began to get more worshippers they became even more powerful. The old Gods continued to get weaker until they barely had enough divine power to light a candle. As a God grows weaker they find their bodies grow frail and they become almost like human. However the one thing the keep is their immortality. A God can never truly die or grow old. Instead only having their current form die and then they find themselves in a new one.

The Great Irony

As the growth of mankind's civilization continues more and more Gods find themselves no longer believed in. Unlike in older days, when new Gods stand up to fill the void there are fewer of them then their used to be. As the dwindling number of Gods continues to shrink and the increasing number of weak Gods continues to grow they begin to wonder why this is happening. They came up with the Great Irony. The Great Irony is that as civilization continued to expand the amount of people who believe in Gods shrinks. People go to church the same as always but there are less and less people who truly believe in Gods. It has gotten to the point where there are no more powerful Gods and nobody is taking care of the people.

The Rules

  1. Choose your God/Goddess. No need to send a profile, just look through what Gods/Goddesses have been chosen and make sure the God you want to be isn't on the list. Gods from any mythology are avalable to play. Also if you want to play a previously unknown God/Goddess , *wink wink* then you can do that too.
  2. Choose a post color because that makes things interesting and begin to post.
  3. Put your God's/Goddess' name at the top of your first post as well as any other names that God/Goddess has been know as. Gods/Goddesses tend to get around.
  4. That is it because guild rules and Gaian rules should already be know.

Mani and Hati- Norse gods

Mani had been one of the many gods or goddesses of the moon. He was neither the first, nor the last. Mani had served well during his time but now he had lost more of his glory. Now he was only barely remembered. Mani sighed as he watched the new comer join the table. He looked around the table at the other Gods sitting there. One would think that forgotten Gods would spurn each others company and even hate those who had cast them out of power, but this was not usually so. Sure, there was tension between Gods at time but forgotten God liked to stick together because no one else could understand what the had been through, or indeed even believe them if they spoke about it.

Mani reached down and scratched the ears of an old dog sitting at his feet. Mani would have called the animal a wolf but the centuries had weighed heavily on the animal. Mani remembered a time when he had been enemies with this dog. It was strange how times changed things. The creature was named Hati and he was supposed to eat the moon during Ragnarok. Now that time will never come and strangely because of that Mani had acquired a pet. Still there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to have the time when this dog chased him across the sky.

Mani returned to the game. He didn't find much interest in it, but it wasn't as if there was anything better to do. As cards were dealt and just before Mani had a chance to bet a scream and a loud thump came from the entrance to the room. He looked over toward the door in wonder. The body of a man had fallen through the doorway. A small pool of blood was starting to pool across the floor. Mani jumped to his feet as he recognized the person. Wasn't that whose his name's father? His mind struggled to find the answer, he had never bothered to keep track of any of the recent religions. His mind came to a conclusion. Wasn't that Jesus' father? But where was the customary disappearance of the body that happens when the current body of a God dies? But... how could this happen... God's couldn't really die... could they?

Gok-Tanri - Turkish Sky God

Tanri's tired golden eyes, once lively during his reign, scanned the table of Gods. Two of his six arms were occupied, one holding some sacred script or another that he really didn't care for, the other held a cigarette. While he knew quite well smoking was not for Gods, Tanri was indifferent to what was normal and what wasn't. Everyday he felt a little more human, and while this was a very unfortunate fate for a God, this one in particular decided not to care. He enjoyed the burning feeling rushing through his body, knowing it would not make him sick like it does so many mortals.

Even though his pale blue skin remained soft and pleasant to look upon, one could judge by his mannerisms and the way he carried himself, always slumped over and falling asleep during meetings, that he was slowly fading. Tanri's believers were scarce. Who needs faith when there are computers and cars? He thought bitterly, taking a particularly long drag from the cancer stick.

A loud thump sounded through the room, breaking the silence and wherever Tanri's thoughts had drifted. He stood from his chair on impulse to see what had happened, but others crowded around before him, blocking the view. Horrified gasps emerged from the Gods, and an alarmed Gok-Tanri stepped foward for a closer look.

Ra(Don't remember the proper name given)- Egyptian Sun God
Io(Most likely you won't find much info about this one)- God of the Dragons

(w00t for Deities and Demigods handbook)

A god of splendor sat at a table. Despite being forgotten and buried with the past he had held his regal looks. He was the most powerful of the Egyptian pantheon at one time...granted he still was, but that of course wasn't saying much. Slowly he sighed, his head turning to observe and then beginning to play a few cards on the table in front of him. Solitaire, a fun game, played now because he didn't have many to speak to any longer. Most moved around, or simply avoided him. He then blinked hearing a scream and thud turning to look but seeing a mob of Gods trying to observe what was going on. He shrugged and went back to playing his game. He was sure he would hear about what happened soon.

((I'm too lazy to post Io's stuff right now, but he will be making an entrance instead of already being in there, so it will be alright ^_^))

Alecto, or Unceasing in Anger; Megaera, or the Jealous One; and Tisiphone, the Avenger of Murder [the Furies/Erinyes/Semnai/Potniae/Maniae/Praxidikae/Dirae] [not exactly a goddess, but hell] [and I'll be mainly playing Alecto, yes.]

"Serves him right, whoever he is," one of the three women sitting beside each other hissed over the sound of the snakes that crowned her head. None of them had risen to over to see, but Tisiphone- she was adorned with the usual wreath of snakes and an additional pair of bat wings- seemed to be itching to. It was, of course, her duty- but wait, she had no more of that, did she?

Megaera's eyes glazed. She was the most decayed of the three, having a near-human appearance; everything was gone save for the blood dripping from her bottom eyelids. "If we were still working I'd so kill you for having a job, Tis."

Tisiphone smirked. "Then I'd just have another one, wouldn't I?"

"Shut up, you idiots," Alecto demanded, eyebrows furrowed. They both shot her a glare.

"Well? Who is it?" Tisiphone called, jerking her head towards the clump of men, women, and and animals that were gathered around whatever was dead. "And how?"
