Who: Josh, LuLu, Alex & Zul When: Midday Where: Lab 305 Weather: Clear and cool
The demon prowled impatiently by the windows that lined the entrance of the Lab. His wings snapped out to shake with rattling impatience before curving against the warm expanse of his back, vibrant blue eyes never leaving the parking lot just beyond his glassy prison. The windows fogged with each of his passes, the heat rolling off of his body a tad higher than normal and clashing with the chilly outside air. He was waiting, he'd been waiting, ever since Alex had tentatively told him that LuLu was sick and coming in for the cure.
Zul wasn't sick, he was just waiting for his LuLu.
The woman herself was a little weary, even though she knew he was cured. He still seemed to be so high on life, as if his power trip had never left him and he was still capable of tearing the walls down around their ears at a whim. Alex exhaled quietly and nuzzled into the scarf around her neck, arms crossing over the doctor's jacket she was still borrowing from Kyou. They had both been lucky she'd taken classes for this type of thing when she'd done time overseas for her old career choice. While the Italian was happy she could put the knowledge to use, she was even more happy that she would be able to see all the Raevans whole again - to see them happy and healthy, as they deserved to be.
"She'll be here soon," Alex promised her charge quietly, huddled against the chill of the Lab.
The demon said nothing, and continued to pace.

The demon frei did not have to wait long before a familiar truck pulled hurriedly into the Lab parking lot. Josh emerged from one side of the car. The boy almost seemed hesitant as he approached the passenger's side of his vehicle. He gave a sheepish look back towards the lab before he opened the door. Seeing a window of opportunity, a small brown body hurdled into him. The boy caught the floating balls of fury in his outstretched arms. LuLu gave a wail of anger before she beat her forehead lividly against her guardian's chest. Her arms were tied behind her with a sloppily made knot. Apparently, Josh had found some way of restraining the rabbit frei until he could cure her.
It was not long after finding LuLu and leaving a message with the Lab that he had been called back. He had heard the part of cold being a neutralizer to the virus; however, the boy lacked the industrial sized freezers that Dr. Kyou so conveniently owned. The only relief he could give his frei were a couple of cold packs. Much to Josh's dismay, the cool squares had only minimally diminished her rage. LuLu's screaming had been getting on his nerves. Josh hated to admit it, but he had contemplated shoving the girl in the fridge on more than one occasion.
As if on cue, LuLu gave off another shrill cry. It pierced her guardian's ears and snapped him out of his stupor. The frei heaved forward violently and tried to throw the boy away. Josh held the girl closer so she could not run off again. Of course, LuLu protested by trying to bite a chunk out of his chest. The boy withdrew slightly and held the feisty raevan at a distance. LuLu had now found new pleasure in barking insults at her guardian in the foreign tongue she used with her rabbit friends. Josh ignored the ambiguous and crude remarks. He instead focused on walking towards the Lab's front doors. Just beyond that entryway stood hope. He was overjoyed that he had finally made it to the Lab and that this could all be over....
And that Dr. Kyou had not found out that he had actually managed to lose his raevan for more than a week.

The Frei suddenly stopped, alerting Alex that Josh and his ward had arrived. The woman stood and flexed her fingers a few times before heading taking a few tentative steps towards the door, waiting; she had only seen Josh twice before and thought kindly of him from their meeting at her birthday. She knew that Zul was immensely fond of the Bunny Frei, and only hoped that all three of their combined efforts to help LuLu would be a success. "Zul, remember, she's sick--"
"Yes." The word was tart, curt, and cut off anything else his woman would have said. He knew she might not recognize him, or that she'd attack, or any other number of things. Zul had already seen such things happen with Rivener and Cordelia, although he didn't admit to remembering; he was ready for anything, and would do anything to help his friend. It would have to be enough.
As the two neared the door, he pulled it open to allow them in, sharp eyes settling upon the bound and angry Frei. He felt momentarily light-headed as brief memories tried to surface again, of being in darkness and his own arms bound behind him as his woman carried him through the doors. Shoving the image away with a set of his jaw, he gave Josh a curious smile. "Glad you came," he remarked lightly, even though his eyes remained on LuLu. "My LuLu..." Zul felt as if he might fight the virus himself, he was so filled with self-righteous anger that it had taken hold in his LuLu, and a strange sense of...failure, that he hadn't been able to prevent it.
Alex watched the two come in, her own smile tired but warm. "Good to see you Josh, just which it was under better circumstances," she greeted the young man kindly, motioning down the hall. "If you'll come this way, we'll get started immediately."

Josh bustled quickly through the door as it was opened for him. The boy was gracious towards the kind action and gave Zul a polite nod; it most likely went unnoticed. Josh feared what would have happened if his hands left LuLu. Even with restrained arms, the frei made no hesitation in using her other assets to attack.
As they entered the building, LuLu's eyes roamed frantically around the room until they locked with Zul's. She shifted in Josh's arms and floated closer to the other raevan. There was a nagging familiarity in those deep cerulean pools that she could not shake. It was the same familiarity that she felt when she looked at Josh.
'My LuLu...'
The horned one uttered those words so casually to her. They were unsettling. The rabbit frei felt a new fury bubble up in her chest. She was his? His? He was just like the humans! He wanted to enslave her too! LuLu gave a low hiss and beat her wings violently as she propelled herself forward. The frei almost broke from Josh's grasp, but he quickly wound his arms around her from behind and pulled her closer. With all other methods of attack cut off from her, the rabbit chose to utter a few sharp cries at Zul before she spat uncouthly at his face. Her tirade of angered squeaks and chitters seemed to drag on as she glared at him from under the fringe of her bangs.
Josh frowned grimly and held his head low. The sensation of failure that gripped his chest uncomfortably was remarkably similar to Zul's. The boy apologized for his raevan's actions curtly, "Please forgive her Zul," He quickly turned to Alex and gave her a halfhearted smile, "Please." He followed her down the hallway without a second thought.

The phlegm hissed as it landed on his skin, bubbling and evaporating into nothing against the raised heat of his body. He gave Josh an equally grim smile. "I understand," he told the Bunny's Guardian quietly, "I've seen worse." There was weight to Zul's words, a darkness in him that wasn't there before. The Frei simply retained his quiet smile and floated behind Josh as he followed his woman, blue eyes remaining on LuLu's writhing and glaring form.
"Are you okay?" the woman asked as she lead them past her own office and into the adjacent one; Tsu's. She opened the door, holding it for them, offering a quiet, "It's going to be cold," before they went in. And it was the truth; the air blasting into the room was nearly icy in texture, it was so cold. There was a plain medical bed in the middle of the room, the regular desk and files pushed to the side so as not to be an obstruction. A simple needle filled with a yellow liquid stood out brightly against the darkness of the desk, resting within the pristine hold of a metal tray.
Rolling up her sleeves, Alex motioned to the bed. "Zul will help you if you need," she remarked as he closed the door behind them, "but we can also wait a few minutes for her to calm down and let the cold do its work if you'd prefer." She leaned on the desk, explaining as briefly and in English as she could, "The shot is going to be very cold. The point is to remove the virus from the inside," she didn't like using the word 'kill' around the Raevans, "and it's going to put her to sleep for a few hours. We'll move her into another room then and let her recover." She smiled patiently at Josh; now was the time to ask questions, if he had any. Once they began, there was no stopping.

The sharp hissing of gooey spit against intensely heated skin put a damper on LuLu’s virtuous frenzy. The rabbit looked back at Zul with eyes that held an uncharacteristic hardness. A bit of curiosity swirled in their purple depths though. Her arms rubbed restlessly against her back as she continually tested the bonds that held her still; a red rash was already beginning to form along her back. It mixed in rather well with the half healed scars that she had gained over the week. Her glare fluttered away from Zul to glide along the room. She made sure to lavish every inch of the room and person within it with her wrath.
Josh only flinched slightly at the sound that Zul’s tanned flesh emitted. The boy looked away and just marked it up as another bizarre occurrence due to the virus. LuLu had gotten infected. It would not surprise him if the baphomet frei had also fallen prey to the infection. The male raevan’s words did create an odd tension in Josh’s stomach though. The sickness churned so suddenly that it surprised the boy.
Other raevans had been worse?
Josh spoke dryly to Alex, “Yes… I am just very glad that you and Dr. Kyou have found a cure,” He added as an afterthought, “How did this start anyway?” The boy gave a jump as they entered the frozen room. Alex had mentioned the temperature; however, he was not expecting to see the subtle formation of frost on top of the wooden tables. He wondered idly if it was real. One of his hands made a motion to touch the delicate ice crystals. He then felt a tug as LuLu tried to jerk away. Josh snapped his hand away from the desk and grasped his raevan once more. The teenager chuckled gently, “I have it covered.”
He led the obstinate frei to the medical bed and set her on it firmly. The rabbit shifted and thrashed on the cushions until the sheets that lined them had been crumpled uselessly. Within time, the coldness of the room seemed to seep into the bunny like a frigid narcotic. LuLu’s movements slowed until she was simply glowering at the three people in the office. Her chest heaved in exertion and her hands gripped the rope that was wound around them, but she made no other actions to escape. Josh released her and stepped back. He nodded to Alex, “I think she is ready.”

"So am I," Alex replied at the mention of the cure, her smile thin, idly rubbing her arms. The bandages beneath couldn't be seen thanks to the coat, but they itched all the same. Since they had to wait for LuLu to calm down, she figured it couldn't hurt to tell a story of an accident and how three unsuspecting people had set Gaia on fire with wild Raevans. "Lazarus was helping Kyou do some cleaning or cataloging," she started in, leaning against the desk and crossing her arms over her chest, watching Josh and the Bunny Frei carefully, "of some fel essences. Kyou went to get something and Lazarus accidently dropped one."
The smile hardened a little. She didn't really like to remember that day, even though it should have been special for Ebony in every way that it wasn't. "It was a self-replicating virus that attached to Lazarus instantly. It spread by touch, and...he managed to touch three Raevans in a room afterwards. And we, the Guardians, unthinkingly let them interact with others since they didn't display any signs of illness." Alex lifted a hand to rub her bottom lip with her index finger, eyes momentarily unfocused and distant. "Before we knew it, over half the Raevans were infected."
By the time she was finished, LuLu was ready. She turned to pick up a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, applying the sharp smelling stuff against the white puff. "Xiu and Zul have already been treated. It also appears that the 'cure' acts as a booster, or...an immunity shot. Whatever comes of this, it wont harm our families again."
Alex approached LuLu and deftly swabbed the crook of her inner elbow since she was bound, ignoring any protest or glaring or spitting that might be incurred. She threw the swab away and retrieved the needle, flicking the tip and giving the femme a gentle, apologetic smile. "This wont hurt, but it's going to be very cold." She didn't give the Frei much time to react; being bound and thrashing as she was, it was easy to find her vein in the supple skin, and it was there that the slim needle found its mark, the yellow contents carefully being pushed into her system. "When you wake up, Lu, it'll be better. I promise."

As the lab assistant approached, the rabbit frei tensed. Two fuzzy ears swiveled forward in tandem. The twin appendages quivered fearfully in the air at Alex. They acted as a separate entity from LuLu and betrayed the girl's feeble attempts at appearing calm.
The raevan's expression melted from quite wrath into mute confusion. LuLu's fingers twitched as the needle drew closer. Her grip on the rope grew stronger until her knuckles turned a ghostly white. When the cool steel pricked her flesh the rabbit gave off a soft cry. Her muscles shifted under her skin. Discomfort flashed across her face. The girl's lips drew into a harsh pout as the syringe stabbed deeper into her unsuspecting limb.
It was only a matter of time before LuLu's lids seemed to grow heavier. She blinked a few times to hold back the unseen force that was causing her eyes to roll backward. In the next second, her shoulders slumped weakly. It was followed by her head; the relaxing tendons in her neck did nothing to support its weight. Her eyelids soon fluttered close with little protest.
The cure had taken effect.
