History:
Beatrix was born in into a working class family in the province of Mishkan, her father a doctor and her mother staying at home working as a seamstress. Her father specialized in the homeopathic remedies, as they lived outside of the large cities where there was a plethora of herbs and other useful plants. Beatrix was home schooled, learning basic homekeeping skills from her mother and medical knowledge from her father, as well information on other trades from nearby neighbors.
Because of the low population in the area they lived as well as that the knowledge of homemade remedies common at the age of ten her father moved her family to the Eastern province, in a large bustling city where his services were more useful where they had a more steady income. There he learned the more pharmaceutical side of medicine, chemicals and pills which were more accessible, considering the herbs needed to be collected and there was little arable land here. One fortunate night he saved the life of a cousin of one Matthäus Veigt, the owner of one the largest candy companies in Imisu. Feeling debted to this man he gave him a job as a scientist in his factory to develop new candies and flavors. With the pay hike it was hard to refuse such a job.
Her father worked there for the next six years and became a valuable part of the company with his knowledge of herbs that could create soothing tastes. In the mean time Beatrix went to school until the age of eighteen and afterward she aided her father by purchasing herbs from the passing immigrants in town. When she was twenty her father became stricken with Black Death, within one of the first few waves of the disease though it did not become noticeable to any of them until the fourth month mark, and after another four months he was dead, the owner, Mr.Veight coming to see the family several times during the last four months of his life. Upon his death the family was at a terrible impasse. They had no steady income and they were avoided by many others in the community. During the time Mr.Veigt had visited the family he became enchanted with Beatrix and asked for her hand in marriage, promising he would take care of all of her and her mother's needs. Desperate, she accepted, and at the age of twenty one she became his wife, entering into a loveless marriage.
She took over her father's post though for the most part she had to do her work at home, her husband dissaproving of her being around other men. Pampered though confined to her home she took this time to educate herself with the large collection of books though even this was frowned upon. She created many flavours for the company, propelling it to nationwide popularity and earning her the freedom to work in the factory, holing herself up as much as she could away in a private laboratory away from her husband and also began to use and create recreational drugs in secret, though was eventually caught and sent back to their home, where they tried for a child, though unsuccessfully. This caused him much frustration and he took up many mistresses, and she propelled into depression, holing herself up in her room for the most part unless she was out buying jewelery (though always accompanied by a servant). Her mother died when she was twenty seven, though the letters that she sent her daughter regularly proclaimed that she was in perfect health.
Nine years into their marriage Matthäus died of malaria, contracted on one of his trips with his many mistresses. By this time the rest of his small family had expired as well, many from the Black Death and so upon his death she was given the company, and donated his body to the Council of Science, feeling that this miraculous event was a godsend. In the following year she returned to a living more functional life and took a more active part in the company. While in her lab, enjoying l'heure verte a candy grew in front of her eyes. Because science freed her from her shackles she now intends to do her part to help them.
