Alexander was looking outside to see snow falling from the sky. Tobey, his son, was outside playing in it, and making snow angels. He smiled, and snickered as a mail truck stopped at his mailbox and left.
Muttering about his leg, he took hold of his cane and limped on out to the cold weather. Tobey saw his father, and followed him, "Daddy! Come play with me~!" The man looked down at his happy-go-lucky child, "Tobey... I'll play with you later, I promise..!" The small child frowned, "You never play with me." Alex sighed, smiled at the boy, and made his way to the mailbox.
He opened it, and there were a few letters. Alexander began to read them, "Bill... Bill... Junk... Bill... 'You might be a winner'... Junk... Wait... What was that?" He flipped back to the last 'junk' envelope, got out the paper inside, and read. "Hm... Hey, Tobey... How about having a sibling around?" Tobey jumped up and down in excitement, "Yes!!!" The two worked their way to the car, and got in. Alex placed the car key into the ignition and started the car.
A few hours later, they arrived at the suspected building. The father and son got out of the car, walked into the building, and rung the bell at the desk.

In front of the building, a small woman was in the process of hanging up a few colorful Christmas lights. She didn't really have any interest in the holiday itself - Apoxi wasn't religious and neither was Kayen, but the woman did fancy the songs, decorations and general atmosphere of the occasion. Particularly how nice people could be and how excited children got - provided they were spoiled brats that is. Or the testing children, seeing as she hadn't told any of them about Christmas in case the parents who got them didn't celebrate, but that was another matter entirely.
Turning around, the brunette spotted the man and his son arriving. She waved pleasantly and climbed down from the ladder she'd been standing on. "Hey there! Come to see about a letter?"

Alexander stopped, looked up to the woman, and smiled, "Ahh... Yes, I do believe I am... Oh. I'm Alexander Thomson. This is my son, Tobey." The cripple gestured to the boy next to him, who just grinned brightly and waved at her. "So what's this about letting me bring home a child?"

"We've been testing the effects of certain genetic combinations and stuff, so we need to send the kids to good homes so we can observe their development over time. Do you have any preferences or questions beforehand?" the woman told them as she walked inside, gesturing for the pair to follow her, which she hoped they did, albeit slowly. Apoxi didn't want to repeat herself or look dumb.

Alexander nodded, "I understand completely. Children do need good homes so that they can thrive and grow to mature levels." Tobey ran up to Apoxi, "Hey... Um... What's my sibling gonna look like?" The toddler's face was beaming with joy.

The woman smiled down at him, kneeling and adjusting her big black glasses. "Well, hon, you guys are gonna get to pick actually."
"We've got lotsa different types. Half fairy, half human, half pixie, half mermaid, half siren and um.....half harpy too I think. Anyway, any of those sound interesting?"

Alexander sighed, and smiled, "Well... I don't know... They all seem pretty interesting... Even the human kids sound like they have something to them that's special..." He laughed, softly taking Tobey's hand, and walk along the hall with the woman.

"Well you can look through the windows - I don't suggest going in till you've decided. I don't want people getting the little ones' hopes up and then not following through. Make no promises to them you won't keep." Apoxi warned, showing them to a hall lined with doors. The kids were in small bedrooms - not cramped or uncomfortable but not particularly spacious. There was room for them to play with a few of the public toys kept there and sleep on their beds.
(Please note: each kid is in their own room. And no, they aren't being kept cruelly - they get taken out and let in the yard to play for exercise and such so they aren't cooped up. Apoxi and Kayen just can't let them all get together in case a fight or something breaks out.)

Alexander began to look through the windows one by one. They all looked pretty interesting! It took him a while to choose, and he finally stopped at a window, peering inside to see a child that looked like a girl. He thought that she would be perfect for him, and she would possibly be a wonderful playmate for Tobey.
((He thinks that Kajol is a girl... xD Just like Jay thought that Adriel was a girl when he was a toddler...))

Apoxi glanced in. "Cute kid. He's nice enough." she mumbled before turning to go find her paperwork. "Remember not to promise anything if you go in to talk."

Alexander rose an eyebrow. Boy..? He looked back at the woman, and smiled, "Alright..." The man opened the door slowly.
The dragon boy held up his head, his eyes were glimmering up at the man.
Alexander smiled, "Hello, there..." The old man knelt down to the boy's eye level.
The boy immediately jumped up, and hugged him, "Mine!"
Alex laughed, and turned around to Apoxi, "Well, I guess I found one. Seeing how he claimed me." He picked up the small boy, who hugged him, smiling.

(Soing at someone saying something you're doing in an rp isn't logical is not a generally correct response.)
Apoxi snorted. "I'll go grab the paperwork then." she said, heading out of the room.
Soon enough, the woman returned with several pages for Alexander to sign. "Here you go. Sign him out and he's all yours. He'll need to come back once per stage for observations."
