New Gaebril
User Image

One of the oldest settlements, founded some 60 years ago by a government-sponsored adventure/scouting party from the kingdom of Ruon, on Lyonesse, New Gibrael boasts several ameneties from home- including basic plumbing, sewers, and the Delegates' House (the original Keep) boasts electric lights.

The Elven population of this large town (boasting 1500+ adults) had set up several shrines in the nearby forest, early on, which helped to keep the Little Gods appeased, and lessened the raids against them, barely.

There is rumor of a grand city-ruin to the south-west, on an island within a great lake, that sits in the shadow of a mighty mountain, visible from the walls.

New Gaebtril After the Promethian Gate...

--- Coralie, Coralie, Coralie, here, you strike gold! Coralie thought to herself, enjoying the sights and sounds of delicious marks to be had here in New Gaebril. The government here was even courteous enough to set up a large building right where everyone comes out of the Promethian Gate with plenty of people, official and not, just milling around. Ripe for the picking! It brought a tear of joy to her eye as she crinkled up in joy, clutching her fists tight to her chest as she imagined all the jingly coins and trinkets she would soon be having. "Oh, who first, who first!" She whispered loudly to herself as she began scanning for her first warmup. Coralie's itchy fingers needed to partake in the time-honored tradition of owner transfership! She was just about hopping foot to foot with excitement.

((awareness2+perception3 to hear your whisper... it's her job... +5 Difficulty because of nosy surroundings))

A melodious voice interrupted Coralie mid-decision. "Welcome to New Gaebril, miss. Planning on lookin' about, or gonna try staying on?"

She turned, and a large Bosek came into view, completely at odds with her voice. She was in some kind of uniform, and was armed with what appeared to be several fire-arms. The Bosek also seemed rather suspicious.

New Gaebtril After the Promethian Gate...

--- Mentally squeaking at the interrupt, Coralie regarded the bosek armed to the teeth while doing her best to take it in stride. Don't fidget, don't fuss, smile and add that pretty little crinkle to your eyes! You'll be fine! The uniform said guard and the guns chimed in too. Her thoughts all rocketed off all at once in a jumbled mess, until Coralie snatched just one, why not just tell the guard why you're here? "Oh, I haven't decided yet!" She said cheerfully, casually gesturing on her right with her hand. Coralie even settled her other hand in the straps of her pack, "There wasn't any decent work for me on a few other discs, so I'm here to see what opportunities pop up!" She didn't have to lie and she could certainly still tell the truth in all its glorious vagueness. Worst comes to worst, she could use her talented, forked tongue to make something stick.

She comes in colors everywhere

Well, this certainly was a sight! All these people, milling about, being checked over, talking, discussing, arguing. And the colors! Sooooo...beautiful. Ceila smiled in her too-wide, mildly vapid way, as she surveyed the place. Exactly her kind of scene. She could practically feel the energy pumping through the crowd.

She made her way through the building, as usual, not paying much attention to any one single person. Instead, she was focused on the bigger picture, the whole scene. Still, one particular person did break through her little bubble. An elf. She was talking to something big. Like a pile of boulders given form and come to life.

She stood as still as she could in the bustling building, head cocked to one side, staring. Her full-lipped mouth hung slightly agape, and her wide, kaleidoscopic eyes shined a bit too brightly. All in all, she didn't look like the brightest firefly in the swarm. She did look pretty fabulous, though, with her multicolored hair arranged in dozens of tiny braids, and her new clothes that were just tight enough, in all the right places.

After a minute, her dull-faced fascination moved her to speak. "Are you a real elf then?"

She's like a rainbow

New Gaebtril After the Promethian Gate...

--- Inwardly, mentally, Coralie fell down. Her train of thoughts shot to pieces as if by a squad of mounted chain gunners. She could not recall the last time someone asked her if she was an elf. Ever. Coralie thought the ears would give it away. They did twitch a few times, an earring or two jingling against another nearby. What's more, when her thoughts finally caught up to her, she didn't think she could use the question to her advantage with the troll situation. Wait. Nope, false alarm. Lifting her chin up with a turn, Coralie finally looked her new questioner over, almost turning at the sight. A moment later and she half-turned as she took in the sight. 's just got to be from Nod. I can't tell if that's a dream or nightmare of bright color!

--- "Actually, I'm a bloodthirsty and savage Orc!" Adding a moment later for the troll guard with the wrong voice, "No, I really am an Elf." Once more for the Nubian, as Coralie had just decided a Chimera wouldn't be so vibrant, "A real, tried and true elf with long pointy ears. All the elfy features too!" A quick pose for emphasis, one leg pivoted on the ball, one hand for her hip and the other to model her face as she winked with a smile. Ah, the Nubian's a cute one anyway with her vibrant colors, Coralie decided.

"Well, elf or no, there is some paperwork to fill out. If you would follow me? And miss..." she continued, turning to the Ceila, "If you would go with this gentleman?" she gestured at a human guard who was already approaching.

Suddenly, someone is there at the turnstile

When her elf began to deny what she was, Ciela's face fell, just a bit. Mostly she was confused. She had been so sure. Then, she realized the humor. A laugh erupted from her, barely caught by a hand flying to her mouth. Her laughter was a strange thing. It seemed stuck at the midway point between the braying of a sick donkey, and the tinkling of fine bells. Still, the sound was undeniably hers, and fit her better than any other.

"Oh! Good! I knew I'd find one here. And not even five minutes after I got here." Actually, she'd been milling about the entry building for the better half of a day, but it was all the same to her. It was amazing how long you could loiter in one spot when you walked in circles like you had a purpose. Her grin grew again, still too wide for her face. "I always wanted to meet an elf. That's why I came here...I think..." Her reasons for coming to Lyonesse were kind of vague at best.

But, she had always wanted to meet a real elf. And now she had.

"Oh? I have to leave the elf now? But..I wanted to talk to her..." Ciela's lower lip wobbled dangerously. Still, she hung her head and did as she was told.

The girl with kaleidoscope eyes

"Don't worry girl," the older man said, taking her gently by the arm. "It looks like she'll be here a while." The last was said with a wry smile for the Bosek as he started to lead Ciela toward a nearby hallway.

((We'll Fork the Tongue and move on even quicklike, Will + Influence at 4 and 3. +7 total. Extra Die since it's an influence roll and it's one of my many specializations!))

New Gaebtril After the Promethian Gate...

--- Or so you think! I do not think I'll be here very long however! Coralie mused to herself, conjuring up the will to work a little lie that may come out as the truth for a certain troll wanting to impinge on Coralie's fun time. She'd also much rather not be documented as having been here if at all possible. So she fibbed, with a bit of mana to help and a good deal of specialization in the matter, "Ah, more forms? I already filled out quite a few forms. I was just getting ready to move on, after deciding what sights I should go see first." Coralie explained sulkily to the silky voiced bosek, hoping the suggested truth would take and that her voice sounded as silky.

"Oh... I see. Well then, the exit is that way. I'd suggest the Waymeet inn. Good prices, for high quality." And with that, the large female left Coralie, moving over to the Trade desk, which seemed to have more business than usual.

((Now! We'll also filch something from the bosek as she turns away, a farewell gift! Will + Guile at 4 and 3. +7 total (Again). Extra Die since it's a guile roll (specializations!). Only question left is difficulty?))

New Gaebtril After the Promethian Gate...

--- And thank you for everything! Coralie thought as she cheerfully voiced, "Thanks! I'll make sure to check it out right quick!" Promptly proceeding to satisfy her itchy finger urge on the bosek and slipped up behind as she turned. If she didn't get caught, she'd make a nonchalant beeline out of there. Maybe even check out the Waymeet Inn to properly inventory her 'earnings' after a quick lifting.
