So I just finally got a little access to broadband and I was finally able to download Pokemon Ranch. So far, there doesn't seem much to it other than depositing my pokemon to the ranch and finding new toys for them.

Since I was pretty far along in Diamond, I was able to max out my ranch every day so far. In just three days I deposited 100 pokemon to the ranch, so it's been expanding every day. The ranch seems to have levels, but I'm not quite sure how it works. Obviously, I started at level 1, but when I deposited the max number of pokemon that I could (I think it was 20 to start?), it told me I had reached level 5. I think I was up to level 8 last time it informed me that I went up a level.

Anyway, I find the game has at least been useful in getting me back into my old game! If you're unfamiliar with the game, Mel, the head rancher, will ask you for "Wanted" pokemon based on the information in your pokedex. So far, she's only asked me for pokemon I've yet to encounter (in my case, Ariados, Slugma, Magcargo, and after adding two of those to the ranch, Dragonite and Qwilfish). I knew where all of these pokemon are located, but I just hadn't set out to find them. So thanks to Pokemon Ranch, I'm finally getting back to filling up the rest of my pokedex. 3nodding

I've heard that you can get Mew through Pokemon Ranch by trading with Mel, but I'm not sure how to tell how close I am to getting one. So far she hasn't offered to trade, although she has added 5 Riolu and 5 Natu to the ranch. I think today she's adding Purugly.

Does anyone know whether or not I can take her pokemon from the Ranch? Or can I only withdraw my own? Will she specifically offer to trade pokemon with me, or will she just keep asking for "Wanted" pokemon? I guess I can find out by just checking in every day, but a little advance info would help! smile

Sadly its only a one way ticket in and you cant withdraw ... kinda lame when they made that feature... D=

Actually, I've had no problems withdrawing. As long as you use the same game card and don't restart the game, you should have no problems withdrawing them.

BTW, I totally screwed up the names. sweatdrop The rancher's name is HAYLEY. MEL is my Wurmple, and HARLEY is my Heracross. xd Whoops!

Also, I had my first trade with Hayley yesterday, and it is in fact a straightforward trade just like in the game. She offered to trade me a Level 50 PHIONE for a LEAFEON. When I imported Leafeon to the ranch, she initiated the trade after I shut off my DS. When I started my DS back up, I was able to withdraw Phione with no problems.

My Ranch is up to level 18 now (I think) and can hold 900 pokemon. I have to get 500 imported before she'll expand again, but I'm just about tapped out of pokemon to import. sweatdrop So I may have to bring some in from my Pearl game, although I was hoping to wait a bit so it wouldn't be quite so confusing...490+ pokemon on one screen is a little chaotic!!

So just an update: Yesterday I brought Hayley the Chinchou she asked for, and she immediately wanted to trade it for a....Staravia. gonk But I did it, just in hopes that it'll encourage her to trade with me more often. :p

The day before, I got invited to go to one of the Look-See ranches. I think he said something about there being 5 other Look-See ranchers. Anyway, his ranch was all Bidoof and Bibarel.

I still haven't hit 500 pokemon on the ranch yet, so I plan to spend some time today catching some easy, low level pokemon to port in, and leveling up my Dragonair and Chinchou so they'll evolve to the pokemon that Hayley wants. blaugh She's so demanding! *LOL*

I've had Pokemon Ranch for a while, but no Diamond or Pearl. My friend deposited some of her pokemon in, though, and now I have, like, 268 pokemon in there. I have many Torchics and Combusken in there (warning: If you do not like previosly mentioned pokemon, do not say yes to Firetype or Red when she asks what pokemon you want). I wish I could withdraw pokemon the rancher deposists...

It really is, Colonel! The main reason to play it is to get Mew or to use it for storage space when your PC is almost full (my Diamond game only had three PC spaces left! gonk ).

It's also been a great motivation to go back and pick up my Diamond and Pearl games. I got so distracted by Platinum that I got all the way to 400 pokemon in both and then put them down. Hayley always asks for a pokemon you don't have yet, so it sort of makes you have to go back and catch/evolve them.

Unfortunately today is the expiration date on her request for a Dragonite. I'm still a few levels away from getting my Dragonair to evolve, though.

Oh, and I saw Look-See No. 2, Mirabel, last night. Her ranch is all Miltank. :p

So after depositing over 700 pokemon from my Diamond game into Pokemon Ranch and only getting one or two trades here or there from Hayley, I finally gave up and decided to cheat a little. And by "cheat," I mean I looked it up online. sweatdrop

Apparently, Hayley has 20 pokemon that she'll trade to you if she happens to bring them to the ranch on the same day as you bring a wanted pokemon to the ranch. For the most part, these are pretty common pokemon - including Staravia, Miltank, Aerodactyl, etc. - and they all have berries, but nothing else too special.

However, if you meet certain conditions, Hayley will offer to do two special trades. Once you deposit 250 pokemon, Hayley will ask you to bring a Leafeon. If you deposit one to the ranch, she'll ask you to trade it for a Phione. If you didn't get Manaphy from the Pokemon Ranger games, then this is pretty much the only way to get Phione without trading.

The other rare pokemon she offers is Mew. In order to get Mew, you pretty much have to max out the number of pokemon the ranch will hold (1062). Actually, according to bulbapedia, you only need to reach 999. But yeah...at that point, the ranch will reach level 25, which is its maximum size. Once you've deposited the right number, wait a day for the ranch to complete its expansion. When you log back in, even if you have pending Wanted pokemon, Hayley will tell you how happy she is that the ranch is so big and how she wants to stay there with everyone for the rest of her life. She'll then tell you she wants to feel the joy of what it's like to raise a new pokemon, and she'll offer to trade Mew in exchange for any pokemon egg (I gave her a Miltank egg). Once you bring the egg to the ranch, she'll make the trade and voila! You've got Mew!

After that, there's not much else to keep you coming back to the game unless you need to free up some space in your boxes. And you can't repeat it with both your diamond and pearl games (at least as far as I can tell), so you'll only be able to get Mew and Phione in one or the other.
