The "what do you do to stop abortion" thread jogged a memory from my high school protesting days.

Some of the speakers made comments about how there is a market for bodies or body parts of aborted fetuses for research purposes. And it wasn't just one of them...I remember hearing it from several speakers each year.

I know very little about it and am currently googling the topic to see if this is a genuine concern or something embellished.

I'm surprised that no one here has ever brought it up (at least I haven't seen anything about it).

But either way, this story MUST have come from something. Even the most embellished of stories contain some elements of truth...or else there's nothing to embellish. razz

So....has anyone ever heard of this before?

Not for embryonic research though. The fetii are too far advanced and no longer have the stem cells that can become ANYTHING. IVF is where the embryonic research comes in. Something that Bush is still wanting illegal. But really, the embryos that are NOT put in the mother are incarcirated. Why can't we use them for an actual beneficial purpose?

I know that. I guess I just find it stupid that they burn the leftovers.

EDIT: also the IVF things that are left over are actually blastopores. The 8 celled thingy. Cause even at embryonic stage I think it's too late. Cells have become specified.
