Stress on top of stress on top of stress had resulted in Adhara have little time outside of her own life for anyone but Adelle, Adelle, ADELLE. Yes, yes, she loved her daughter, but there was another love stirring in the depths of her heart that she'd been neglecting for far too long.

So, as such, Adelle was at her friend Fitzroy's house for the rest of the night. Noah had literally been snapped at to 'take care of his own damn kids', and Adhara was anxiously pacing with her phone in hand, hair pulled into a messy high ponytail, purple-painted fingertips curling and uncurling the phone cord nervously. She hadn't even dialed the number yet and already her heart was pounding terribly. Sure, she'd admitted her feelings to 'Zuba already, and they'd spent time together after that, but they hadn't once been on a date-date. No less, Adhara didn't know if Azubahiel had grown yet, and if the girl was still only a preteen, it might look a little awkward for the teen mother to be spending time with someone perhaps not much younger than her but... still. It would be odd.

Finally, the girl hung up the phone and lifted it again, listening to the dial tone while she got her bearings and finally dialed the number that she knew she could contact 'Zuba with, breath hitching as the phone rang once... twice... It was at the beginning of the third ring that someone picked up, and Adhara fell against the wall nearest to her comfortably, as though settling in for a long conversation, practically melting at the sound of the voice that seemed to have changed ever-so-slightly since their last encounter. Did that mean that 'Zuba had grown since then...?

Clearing her throat and chuckling softly, Adhara smiled to herself, feeling like the teenager she hadn't had a chance to be since Adelle was born. "H-hi, 'Zuba! It's Adhi, though I guess you could, um, guess that," Adhara said awkwardly, giving a forced chuckle that made it obvious that she was already wishing this conversation had at the very least started better.

"Anyway... I was wondering, 'Zu, if you were free tonight and... well, if you are... would you like to go out with me? Like... on a date?" In Adhara's mind, it was a miracle she hadn't passed out as a result of heat stroke yet.

Marina Toriama
'Zuba had been the first person to answer the phone, since the others were outside working on the garden. "'Lo?" she asked, leaning against the back of the couch. A small smile played across her lips as she recognized the voice. It'd been so long since she'd heard from Adhara! Needless to say, this call definitely had made her day, and they weren't even a few sentences in."Hey Adhi..." she greeted, her voice definately taking a happier tone to it. She listened again, her cheeks slowly warming as the color flooded them. She attempted to say something, but only managed a squeak.

After a moment, she managed to regain her composure, and attempted to shake off the butterflies that fluttered in her stomach. "I....I'd love...love to." she said, her faint little voice sounding almost like a scratched record. Why couldn't she gain control of that? She toyed with what was left of her hair, smiling slightly. "Ah....where to go?" she murmured, locking her eyes on the carpet beneath her.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Adhara could have died of relief when her offer was accepted, nearly dropping the phone, literally needing to fumble to keep it off the floor. "Great!" she said excitedly, the happiness in her voice not even partially hidden. Already her mind was rushing to what she was going to where, what she was going to look like, how she was going to get there - that was probably the biggest problem right there. She'd only just gotten her learner's permit and there was no way that she was going to have some random license-owner sitting in her car.

At the question of where, however, she froze up nervously, suddenly running through thousands of different options, heart racing still. "I- I didn't think of that, actually," Adhi replied, laughing nervously. "I guess I was just too hung up on wondering whether or not you would say yes," she said, smiling and thanking the heavens that the butterflies in her stomach were finally starting to calm down.

There were so many different ideas, many of them expensive given who raised her, but she'd made sure that she wouldn't have to rely on Noah to be able to pay for her anything, especially a date. Well, she could cook... and her apartment had a flat roof that was made for people to be able to go up there without too much problem... it was also a very pretty spot when the sky got dark and the city lights went on... A bright smile crossed Adhara's face and she bit at her lower lip to try not to smile as widely as she was.

"Actually, how does dinner at my place sound? I can go pick you up if you want, around... five or six? If you can't get here, that is," Adhara suggested, setting everything up in her head, including her own appearance. She hadn't been this excited for anything since... hell, since she'd first seen her beautiful daughter. "You're not allergic to anything, right?" she asked curiously. "Or, well, are there any foods that you don't like? Ones that you like? Umm... movies, what about those? What kinds of movies do you like?" she asked, before laughing a bit, this in a more amused than nervous way. "Sorry for all the questions. I want to make sure everything goes... well, right."

Marina Toriama
Zuba smiled, listened to Adhara. She felt oddly bubbly, but at the same time, a little naggling of worry danced at the back of her head. What if she didn't look good enough? What if something horrible happened? What if..... She tried to push those thoughts from her head. This was supposed to be a happy event, not something to worry over.

"Can make it there. No problem." Azubahiel said, not wanting to impose. Adhara was usually so busy; there was no reason to bother her with the task of having to pick her up. "And not allergic. Any food is alright. Not picky." Well, there were a couple of foods she didn't like, like raspberries, but if Adhara liked those, she was sure she could manage. "Um....Pan's Labyrinth?" she suggested, taking a moment to think of a movie. Movies weren't her forte....most of the one's she'd seen were old black-and-white films that she watched with her uncle, and she wasn't sure if Adhi would like them. But, Pan's Labyrinth wasn't a kind of movie, it was just a movie. But, it was the first thing she thought of.

She chuckled. "'S okay. Understand." she said. "There at 5:30 okay?" she asked, not wanting to arrive to early or too late.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Adhara smiled gratefully when 'Zuba said that she had a way to get there, nodding as she listened to her friend talk, getting a bit more caught up in listening to 'Zuba's voice than actually hearing what she was saying. She twisted the phone's cord onto and off of her pointer finger, still leaning against the wall with the phone and making a mental list of all the answers that she got to her questions.

She started trying to plot out a meal in her head, and for some reason, her mind kept telling her that she should make raviolis, which she honestly didn't want to make, mainly because she'd made those the time that 'Zuba had slept over only a few months ago. But, she could always make fried ravioli. And breadsticks. And a bunch more feast that they wouldn't be able to finish if they were gluttony kids.

"Pan's Labyrinth?" she asked. She'd heard of it before from her dad, but she'd never actually had a chance to watch it. She nodded, though, and smiled, predicting that if Noah didn't have it he would likely buy it and bring it over. She could pay him back when she next got her paycheck. "Alright then, I'll make sure to get my hands on it by tonight," she said sweetly. "And don't worry, it's no trouble at all."

Adhara smiled and wiggled to herself cutely. "That's perfect," she said, giggling happily. "I'll see you at five-thirty 'Zuba. Buhbye!"

After hanging up the phone, Adhara sighed dreamily to herself and leaned against the wall, sliding down it and just smiling to herself happily. She sat there for a good five minutes before she finally got back up, calling her father to request a bunch of different dishes as well as the movie, all of which she knew he had.

After jumping in the shower, she put her bangs in curlers, and pulled her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head. For the time-being, she was only wearing a nightgown while she made food for the night, even managing to get Reena and Niita to help as well, though Niita managed to burn himself while carelessly handling a hot pan. It was a while before Adhara could actually feel the pain, but when she could, it was excruciating. Hissing at the pain, she quickly retrieved a First Aid kit, putting burn ointment over it and wrapping a bandage around it, taping it in place and returning to her cooking, this time with one less helping hand.

After another hour or so, she finally finished her cooking, arranging fried ravioli, breadsticks, bruchetta, mozzarella sticks on a platter, covering that and serving two plates of tortellini, both of which she covered to keep them warm. These things along with three bowls, one of Alfredo sauce, one marinara, and one of Parmesan cheese were what she set up on a table on the roof of her building. Assuming that no one was going to touch it, she hurried back to her apartment, taking out her curlers and setting her hair properly. She took a purple satin dress that had a layer of darker purple over a lighter shade that had a split up the right side of it. The back was missing out to her tentacles, as well, for the sake of freedom of movement.

She put on a complimenting amount of makeup and smiled to herself in the mirror before she went downstairs and began pacing excitedly, wings fluttering a bit, anxiously awaiting her date.

"Bye, Adhi." 'Zuba said, smiling lightly. She hung the phone up, then the panic set in. She had to look pretty for the date! But, how in twelve hells was she going to do that? Suddenly, the spawn was off, sprinting to the kitchen. "MOTHER!" she yelled, which in and of itself was out of the ordinary. She usually never went above a soft tone, let alone right out yelling. "Mother!"

"What is it, ZuZu?" Stasia said, looking up from the dishes she'd previously been washing, visibly worried. She let the plate sink into the soapy water, drying her hands on a towel as she hurried over to her daughter.

"Mother.....I...." Zu took a deep breath, calming herself. "Have a date tonight. Make me pretty? Please?" She knew this was a lot to ask; after all, with how she looked. "Please, Mother?"

A sly grin spread across the half-elf's face. "A date, huh?" she said, relieved that it wasn't anything too serious. "Of course I can help. Dating and the attire is my specialty, ZuZu. C'mon, you can borrow some of my clothes." Taking her daughter's hand, she headed upstairs to her room, talking to the girl as she rifled through her over-spilling cornucopia of a closet.

"So, where are you heading?" she asked, holding up a dress to inspect. Nah, too slutty.... The dress was tossed aside.

"House. For dinner." 'Zuba murmured, a bit flustered. And worried. And excited. And....and....hell, she didn't know!

"So, who's the lucky little man?" Stasia asked, still looking through clothes. No, too slutty.... The outfit was tossed into the ever-growing pile.

"Her name's Adhara." Zu said, reaching into the closet. Ooh....what was this? She held up the pale green dress, looking at the paler green swirls and the dark green and teal paisley print that decorated the sleeves and bottom. This was perfect!

Stasia paused. "Her?" she asked, then sighed. "There goes my shot at grandkids...." she muttered.

"Adhara has her daughter. Adelle." 'Zuba supplied, smiling a bit. Oh, silly Mother and her silly priorities.

"Oh, okay then." Stasia said, perking back up. Hey, as long as her ZuZu was happy and she got a grandbaby, she didn't mind. That, and this seemed to be helping Zu's recent foul mood; another upside. She then tugged the spawn towards the bathroom, grinning. "C'mon, ZuZu!" she said, tugging the poor girl into the bathroom for a makeover. Poor 'Zuba.

-------------------------

Zuba approached the apartment complex, tugging at the edge of her dress nervously. She was sure she must look horrid. Mother had applied green eyeshadow to her and pulled the hair up on the "good" side of her head into a side-pony. She did her best to smooth her hair down on the spiky side, all to no avail. What if she wasn't pretty enough? Oh, she probably wasn't pretty enough....

Mustering all the courage she could, she made her way to Adhara's apartment, trying to ignore the lump in her throat.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Adhara couldn't help but pace nervously, extremely excited but worried that something might go wrong. Or that her apartment wasn't nice enough because it wasn't as good as the one she'd lived in previously. Or that she wasn't dressed up enough, her hair wasn't done well enough, she was abusing her tentacles!! All these possibilities and more ran through her head as she walked back and forth, face red from nose to cheeks to ears. As she paced, she gently pet Niita, being wary of the wound from earlier, grateful for the affection she was getting from both tentacles.

'Zuba arrived right on time, only three minutes after Adhara had started pacing, and the teenager smiled brightly, half-running to where her friend had showed up. However, as soon as she got there, the nerves set in and the blush reformed on her face. She poked at the floor with one of her toes nervously and smiled, chuckling a bit.

"Hihi, 'Zuba," she said sweetly. "You look really nice." She'd never actually been this nervous before. Then again, thinking on it, she'd never been on a real date before. She'd never had to be alone with someone she really liked who knew she really liked them. The only time she'd ever been in an intimate situation with someone else, it was with Adriel, and she'd been so high on their pheromones that she hadn't even been able to control herself.

"Oh! Right, I-I have dinner set up on the roof," Adhara noted, pointing toward the ceiling. Already, Niita had stretched out to nudge gently against 'Zuba's palm, trying to get her attention and earn pity-points for the burn towards the tip of him. Reena, on the other hand, decided that she wanted Adhara to have more attention, and snaked around Azubahiel's waist, pulling her against Adhi snugly.

Adhara's face only lit up further at that, amber eyes going wide behind her glasses. She chuckled awkwardly, wrapping her arms hesitantly around her friend. "S-sorry. They're just as friendly as they've ever been, as you can probably tell," she explained, giggling a bit and mentally convincing Reena to let go of 'Zuba and instead wrap around her arm while Niita continued to stroke against her hand like a loving kitten.

"Anyway... should we head up then?" Adhara suggested, offering her friend her hand, palm facing upward to lead her upstairs in a chivalrous fashion. After all, it was good to be polite. Especially to 'Zuba...

Marina Toriama
'Zuba smiled lightly, blushing a bit. "Th-thanks..." she murmured, though the look on her face said she thought otherwise. She wouldn't correct the other girl, though; she'd earned the privilege of using compliments. She shuffled her feet, feeling awkward. Like Adhara, this was her first real date. And she was absolutely terrified of messing up and screwing things up.

Azubahiel nodded, smiling lightly. "M'kays...." she said, glancing at the ceiling without thinking about it. She looked down, making a small sympathetic sound as she petted the injured tentacle gently. Poor little guy... She was distracted when she sudden felt herself pulled against Adhara. She felt her face become warm as the color flooded her cheeks.

"'S okay.....am used to tentacle abuse." 'Zuba joked, hugging Adhara back lightly. She pet Niita a little more before giving Reena some attention as well. Seriously; Adhara was so lucky...she got sentient limbs. How awesome was that!

The split girl smiled, gently taking Adhara's hand. "Yes." she answered, her answer a little more blunt than she intended. Luckily, her voice was soft enough that is canceled it out....a little, anyways.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Adhara couldn't help the scoff at the choice of words that her friend -girlfriend?- used when she was clung to, blushing in embarrassment and a bit of shame, smiling sheepishly. "Sorry. I promise I wasn't laughing at you; you just... phrased that in a cute sort-of-way," she replied, blushing even more and redirecting her eyesight at the comment, wings fluffing up a bit. The teenager's tentacles seemed a little over-excited to lead 'Zuba up to the top of the building and so consumed by her nervous energy, Adhara had to consciously remind herself not to take the stairs. Going all the way to the roof by them would probably not be the most fun thing for a child without her energy.

As such, it was the elevator that the two of them took, Adhara still nervous and Niita still nuzzling 'Zuba's free hand as best as he was able to reach it. In meantime, Adhi's amber eyes stayed on the hand in her own, simply watching it, a blush still covering her cheeks and parts of her ears. After a rather long time of simply staring at their hands, Adhara shifted her own slightly, interlacing their fingers and swishing to either side nervously, making her dress flare just a tiny bit at the bottom.

Finally, they got to the top floor, at which point they would have to get out and take the stairs. Being as gracious as she knew how, Adhara walked her date up the stairs, sliding her hand from the other spawn's when they reached the door that lead onto the roof, holding it open for her to reveal the small, candlelit table that awaited the two of them. They'd been lucky; it was actually a decent-temperate night, though, just-in-case, Adhara had gotten hung two jackets over the chairs.

Leading 'Zuba to the table, she pulled out the other girl's chair before lifting the metal lids on the food with two arms and Reena's help, exposing the meals and causing steam to curl away from all three of the plates, before setting the lids in an empty spot on the small table that had been designated for them. She took her own seat and smiled across the table, laughing softly in... well, general amusement, having never believed that she actually wouldn't end up with someone, especially with 'Zuba of all people; likely a complex developed after having Adelle alone. She smiled softly and gestured toward the food. "Bon appetit."

Marina Toriama
'Zuba smiled lightly. "'S okay...understand." she said, nodding. Even if Adhara had been laughing at her, it was very doubtful that it would have bothered the split spawn. The pink that tinged her face darkened a little as their fingers interlaced.

Azubahiel tried to keep herself calm. Everything was going to be alright. This was Adhara, after all. She'd known her since they were both little. She wasn't going to mess up, and she wasn't going to make the other girl mad even if she did. She hoped. She tried to focus on the positive in hopes of quelling the rolling nervousness in her stomach. She reached her arm over, petting Niita gently. Good tentacle~

The split spawn followed the tentacle-y one up the stairs, focusing her gaze on her feet. While it was very doubtful that she'd trip, she wanted to make sure she didn't. After all, that would be horrible! Tripping and falling, and possibly taking the other girl down with her. Luckily, that mortifying little scenario never happened; they made upstairs safely.

"It's pretty up here..." she said softly, smiling as they headed to the table. She murmured a small thank you as she sat down in the offered chair, shifting a little. She tucked a spiked tendril of hair behind her pointed ear; a nervous gesture. "Wow.....it all looks so amazing..." she said, looking at the dishes of food. This was definitely better than anything she could cook. She offered a small smile as she lifted her fork. "Thank you." she said, looking over at Adhara.

It was still a hard concept to grasp, the idea that Adhara was actually on a real date. With 'Zuba, the pretty, split, sweet, golden-winged spawn whom she'd been pining for for... hell, longer than she could honestly remember at this point. There was a brief point in time, after taking her seat at the table, where she simply stared across it at the Humility child, illuminated beautifully in the moonlight.

"Yeah..." she sighed wistfully, not completely sure what she was 'yeah'ing for a moment before she smelled the food again and perked up, chuckling to herself and taking a few things off the tray of fancy stuff, serving herself some more sauce and looking across the table to her friend, catching herself before she spaced off again.

"Thank you for accompanying me, 'Zuzu," Adhara replied with a kind smile, using that nickname for the first time, though believing that it fit. It was cute, just like she was, after all. She ate some of her pasta, enjoying it before she looked up and tipped her head, a pleased smile on her face. "So 'Zuba, how have you been lately? Cute haircut, by-the-by."

Marina Toriama
'Zuba kept waiting to wake up. There was no way this could be happening to her. She still couldn't believe that anyone liked her in that way....and yet here she was, dining with Adhara. She looked back across the table, offering a shy little smile. This couldn't possible be real.....but it was.

'Zuba looked down, feeling the heat starting to rise in her cheeks. She fixed herself a small plate of food, careful to make sure she didn't take too much. She wanted to make sure there'd be enough for the both of them. Of course, that wasn't really anything to worry about, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to make sure that everything went fine.

The split spawn smiled at the nickname, fighting the nervous urge to look down or away. No need to act shy, right? Right. "No problem....no problem at all." she said, smiling at Adhara. She nibbled at her food, eating away at it in tiny bites. "Oh.....been good. Mother had a baby recently. New sister is adorable. Got some new clothes." She paused, shaking her head a bit. She didn't think it classified as "cute", but she wouldn't vocalize this.

"Thanks." she murmured instead, smiling timidly. "How have you been?" she asked before taking another small bite of food.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Niita reached out beneath the smallish table, tapping at 'Zuba's knee and gently slipping up 'Zuba's dress. Adhara's amber eyes widen as she smacked the tentacle lightly and scolded at it. "Niita, don't do that," she chided, petting it and thereby distracting it gently as she ate, listening to Azubahiel with interest. She smiled brightly.

"Aw~" she said sweetly, chuckling happily. "So I suppose I'm not the only one who's been taking care of a little girl?" she offered, though she didn't know if 'Zuba was taking care of her sister or not. And there went her mind on another tangent, imagining what life had been like if she'd had Adelle after she was with 'Zuba. She sighed happily at the thought, smiling at the girl in a way that was probably rather confusing.

"I've been alright," she said, laughing a bit. "Life's been... stressful. But Adelle's gotten older and has made more friends, so she doesn't spend as much time at home as she used to. It's nice, I've been getting more time to myself, which I haven't had... in a long time." She smiled. "This is actually one of the first times I've had a chance to be alone in a while, really..."

And she was damn glad to be spending it with 'Zuba.

Marina Toriama
'Zuba's eyes widened, color flooding her cheeks as the tentacle slipped under the cloth. While she was used to "tentacle abuse", she wasn't used to that. She paused a moment before she was able to start eating again, still a little stunned. She knew tentacles were friendly, but she hadn't know they could get that friendly. Oh my.

'Zuba smiled lightly at Adhara's comment, noddng. "Been helping Mother. She's so busy and tired lately." The last part was said with a bit of worry. Mother had been more tired than usual lately, falling asleep at odd times. Poor Mother.

'Zuba nodded, listening intently to Adhara. If she'd known it'd been that stressful, she would have come to help! Then again, things at home had been....eventful, lately, to say the least. She then paused her thought process, a question coming to mind. "Is it hard being a parent?" she asked, looking up at Adhara.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
"Oh..." Adhara murmured sadly at hearing that 'Zuba's mother was feeling rather under-the-weather. She looked sad for a moment before a smile returned to her face. "Remind me before you leave and I can make her some sweets for her," she noted, nodding and taking a bite of a breadstick. At the question about motherhood, she chuckled, smiling sweetly at her girlfriend.

"It is hard, but I'm not the best judge. I'm lucky with my dad being so generous and rich to boot, and I had Adelle when I was really young," she noted with a soft smile and a nod, taking another bite of her food. "Between each other, they made it both harder and easier at the same time. It's... difficult, being a parent -especially being both-, but it's got definite rewards. It's completely worth it at the end of the day..."

The idle conversation continued for about a half hour before it got quite a bit colder, and a small Asian woman came wobbling out the door. After a brief exchange, the woman was cleaning up the table and Adhara was leading her date back downstairs to their room for the night. She smiled at 'Zuba, gesturing toward the woman that they were leaving on the roof. "I watch her house when she has to go out of town. I traded my payment for her offering to clean up after the date tonight. After all, I'd rather not have my date doing idle chores," she said sweetly, kissing 'Zuba on the cheek as they were partway down the stairs, chuckling in surprise at her own actions as her face turned bright red. "Oh, uh... s-sorry, 'Zuzu..."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 30, 2009 9:12 am

Marina Toriama
'Zu nodded, smiling slightly. "Will.....thank you." she said, grateful. That was so nice of her, thinking of something nice like that to do for her mother. She nommed on her food; Adhi really was a great cook! If only she could cook like this...

Azubahiel nodded, listening intently to the other spawn. "Must be nice." she said after a moment, her tone full of admiration laced with a bit of jealousy. Though, she wasn't quite sure what she was envious of. Odd.

The spawn watched the exchange between Adhara and the woman, a little confused until Adhara cleared it up. She felt kind of guilty, letting the woman clean up after them. "Oh...I wouldn't have mind-" she started, falling silent as the kiss landed on her cheek. A pale pink color rose to her cheeks, her hand raising towards the kissed side slowly, hovering near the spot.

"I, um...issokay." she murmured, offering a small, shy little smile. She looked down in an attempt to hide her rose-tinted face, her bangs falling forward as she followed the girl down the stairs.

Adhara couldn't help the blush on her cheeks either and bit at her lip gently, trying to keep from biting down too hard. Simply, she reached out to take her date's hand in a very loose grip, leading her down the stairs while she watched the ground like an awkward junior high school student. While in the elevator, she swished back and forth a bit, amused by the way that her dress ruffled, silent before she finally thought of something to say.

"I'm really glad that you came, 'Zuba," she said sweetly, a shy smile on her face as she glanced up at the girl, taken aback and darkening in colour beneath her purple spots as Niita happily wrapped around Azubahiel's waist, tugging the two of them together a little closer than necessary. For a moment, Adhara attempted to keep the tentacle from pulling them so close, but instead decided not to fight it, resting her head on her friend's shoulder for the duration of the short ride.

It was Niita who was snuggling on and holding Adhi's hand as they returned to the apartment, Adhara opening the door for her friend and allowing her inside first with a kind smile. "I made sure to get Pan's Labyrinth, too. Well, actually, Dad got it for me, but regardless," she chuckled, still a little put-off that she'd asked for her dad's help. Ignoring that, she went about turning on a lamp, turning out the big lights and grabbing a remote. On the table were a few little snacks, just some chips and dip, a small candy bowl on the sidetable that was always sitting there. Taking a seat, she offered 'Zuba the one next to her, turning on the television and playing the DVD.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 30, 2009 3:08 pm

'Zuba held Adhara's hand awkwardly, overly cautious. She didn't want to hold it too tight; that come off as clingy, right? And she didn't want to hold it too loosely, either... She focused on her feet, silently counting the stairs as they descended. After all, it would suck if she tripped and fell and brought Adhara down with her if she fell.

Luckly, they made it to the elevator safely. "So...so am I." she said softly, looking at the shorter spawn. The pink that had colored her cheeks, which had never fully faded, darkened a little. It darkened further when she found herself tugged closer to the girl. A small, nervous smile crossed her face....she wasn't sure what to do. She'd never been in a situation like this before.

'Zuba smiled, nodded as she stepped into the house, glancing around the room out of habit. "Thanks...." she murmured, nodding once. She sat down beside Adhara, smiling at the girl. She opened her mouth to say something, but fell silent as the movie came on. After all, it was rude to talk through a movie in general, though she didn't know what the movie-watching etiquette was here.

It was immediately obvious that Adhara had watched one too many romantic movies, comedy or otherwise, and her tentacles had decided that the goings-ons in those movies were exactly what they wanted in their own lives. As such, it wasn't long before Niita was stealthily -or not-so-stealthily- slithering up 'Zuba's arm playfully, only for Adhara to bat the tentacle away, making it retreat indignantly. Adhara chuckled a bit and smiled at her date, shaking her head.

"Sorry about that, 'Zuba. They really like you, but it's probably not quite the love that we should so much as be thinking about as of yet," she explained with a laugh. Yeah, right, that was practically the only thing on her mind now that they were on her couch in her house with the lights off. Ugh, hormones. Ugh, lust side. To make sure that there was nothing too uncomfortable, as well, she made another comment. "You can talk, too, if you want. After all, diligence and all, I'm lucky to sit through an entire movie," she said with a soft laugh. Didn't mean she wasn't going to try her damndest to do so.

'Zuba chuckled a little, more amused then anything. It was plain to see she hadn't gotten Adhara's meaning....at first. She thought about it, then chuckled a little, a tinge of color spreading across her cheeks. That wasn't something she tended to think about. In fact, it had been the farthest thing from her mind until the the other girl mentioned it. She had no idea that is was plaguing Adhara's thoughts at the moment.

Azubahiel smiled lightly, nodding. "M'kay." she murmured softly, nodding. The whole "be quiet during a movie" thing had been drilled into her since she was little; she almost expected Mother or someone to come in and shush her. She chuckled a little at the mental image, then looked to Adhi. "Have you seen?" she asked, her tone still quiet and border-line cautious.

Adhara made herself more comfortable on the couch, leaning back against the soft, squishy plush that it was made of, occassionally needing to take honest effort to look away from the pretty little split spawn sitting next to her and keep her minimal attention span on the movie. Suddenly, something occurred to her. "Oh! Drinks might be a good thing," she said, laughing softly at her forgetfulness and fluttering off to the kitchen before returning with an armful of different canned teas, all of different flavours, which she set down on the table, one wobbling a bit before it was steadied. "Have any you want," she noted in a whisper, smiling at her friend.

"Hm?" Adhara asked, looking over at the girl as she opened one of the tall cans and took a sip of it, pausing to shake her head. "I haven't seen it before, actually. Is it good?" she asked with interest, making sure to keep her attention split between the movie and the other girl for the sake of keeping up with the subtitles.

'Zuba, luckily, didn't know how distracting she was being. If she did, she might have felt guilty. She blinked as Adhara seemed to hop off, whisking away and coming back with drinks. Now that Adhi mentioned it, she was kind of thirsty. She reached out, picking up a lemon-mint tea, tapping the top of it out of habit. She usually did that with soda, so it had become her default action when it came to canned beverages.

"Thanks." she said, opening her now-safe tea and taking a drink. Nothing like tea to go with a movie. All they needed now was crumpets and little sandwiches and they could have an improvised tea party. She smiled, nodding at her fellow spawn's question. "It's good. Sad, but good." she said, nodding. She wanted to talk about how it was good and why it was sad, but....she didn't want to give the whole movie away.

With many ooh's and aww's, it wasn't long before the two had reached the point of Ofelia being chased down by the spooky thing with eyes in its hands. And, of course, Reena and Niita had somehow found a way to tug 'Zuba slowly closer and closer to their charge, and by now Adhara was clinging to the other female tightly as she watched the screen with wide amber eyes, holding her breath with how intense the movie was getting.

She relaxed when the little girl got away, however, sighing as she flopped back onto the couch more properly, though her tentacles weren't about to give 'Zuba up. "Sorry," she whispered softly for them, eyes still indulging in the enticing dialogue she could only understand through subtitles. "Like I said, they really like you." She chuckled softly, trying to get them to let her date go if she really didn't enjoy the surprisingly gentle snuggling, but otherwise just laying back and petting Azubahiel's hair softly, continuing with the movie-watching.

'Zuba smiled lightly, shaking head. "'S fine." she said, resting her head on the other girl. "Like them too." Oh, she was content to just stay where she was; it wasn't often that she felt so...comfortable. She felt completely at ease; no worries of mistake-making plaguing her mind. Maybe it was the fact that she was with Adhara, or the fact that she liked having her hair played with. Either way, it was still calming all the same.

After more suspense-filled wonder and awe, they came to the heart-wrenching part where Ofelia's mother dies. Even though Azubahiel had seen this movie umpteen times, tears still brimmed in her eyes as she watched the poor mother's pain and anguish. She rubbed at her eyes, trying to catch the tears with her sleeves before they could fall. That poor woman... She rubbed at her eyes again, trying and failing to hide the fact that the tears kept welling up. Stupid Videl; he'd get his just desserts!

Likely a result of the lack of humility, Adhara was crying openly at the dramatic turning point in the movie, shoulders shaking slightly and arms wrapping tightly and rather protectively around 'Zu's shoulders. In reality, it was Adelle she would want to be clinging to at this portion of movie, but she was just as protective of 'Zuba anyway. Besides, she didn't plan on letting her baby girl anywhere near this movie in the near future.

It wasn't hard to tell that her friend was crying, even if she was behind the other. Adhara smiled in what would be a comforting way if 'Zuba could see it, sniffling sadly and wiping the tears from 'Zu's eyes, Reena having already gotten to work on doing so as well. She kissed her date's cheek softly, and gave another smile before her eyes zoned back in on the subtitles, and what would happen now that the movie had gotten a dramatic amount more terrifying.

[[ |} I can't remember the ending of the movie in good detail, I's sorry. -squeakblush- Could you skip again and add a little embellishment? Tankoo~ ]]

'Zuba turned a faint shade a pink as she was kissed, and probably would have withdrawn into her hoodie and hid if she still had it. As it were, she just look down, leaning lightly against her date. Oi, awkward feelings were awkward! She wasn't paying as much attention to the movie as Adhara; she'd seen it enough times that she could go word-for-word with it, in both English and Spanish.

After some time, it had come to the climactic ending of the movie. Tears once again threatened to fall as the bullet from Videl's gun tore through poor Ofelia's stomach. But, the tears vanished as Videl was shot and killed, getting his just desserts. But, just as quickly as they had left, they returned as Ofelia took her last breaths on Earth and found herself in the Underworld; a glittering, gold place where she was princess. While it was kind of happy for Ofelia, it was still rather sad. Azubahiel found herself wiping away tears before they could fall. "So, liked the movie?" she asked softly, looking over to Adhara as the credits started to roll.

Adhara was watching the movie much more intently that 'Zuba was at that point, the climax of the movie seizing her attention from her date as her wings ruffled up, as though getting ready to send her into the television world to protect whoever needed it. Of course, she wouldn't really be able to do that, and her wings fluffed up even more when the little girl was shot, breath catching in her throat at the overwhelming atrocity, clinging tightly to the girl in her lap, holding her protectively.

The woman's breathing shuddered slightly as the movie came to its well-written close, a faint smile coming to her tear-stained face. It wasn't until 'Zuba spoke that she realized that the girl was still there and chuckled softly, wiping the tears from her cheeks, the soft laughter in her voice just a bit melancholy, the tears audible. "Yeah, I did; I really liked it," she said with a smile, hugging her friend close and smiling faintly, one hand moving to cup Azubahiel's cheek, running the tip of her thumb along the very edge of the girl's watery eyes. "I hope you had fun tonight, 'Zu."
