[ Testing out a theory that making a new thread fixes the glitch. If it doesn't work, then we can just continue on this one anyway. ><;; ]

Yes, yes, yes, smoking was bad for the stomach lining.

But you know what else he'd been advised against doing? Eating full, decent-sized meals, he was supposed to 'stay relaxed' during, after, and before meals, he wasn't supposed to have fried foods, or spicy foods, or coffee, or tea, soda, citrus, he wasn't even supposed to eat chocolate! Smoking would slow the healing process, but he didn't much mind the risk. After all, it wasn't that terrible, and he could either have the stress as a factor or the smoking as a factor and frankly, the latter option was much preferable.

So that was what caught him watching his church and all the people milling around it from across the street. He would be interacting with them, but simply getting over himself didn't mean that he got over his own humility, it meant that he no longer prided himself on being humble, a fact that still stumped him on how he reached that point. With a sigh, he breathed out a cloud of toxic smoke along with the ice crystals formed by his breath. Trembling slightly, he held the cigarette in his lips while he zipped up the front of his leather jacket, partially regretting his choice to not wear a shirt underneath it.

...partially.

xInsane_Night_Skittlesx
He couldn't understand why he had decided to go to that specific church, but something just happened to drag him there. So here he was, walking along the sidewalk that ran past the church he had first met Aludra and Lironax at. At least, he thought it was the right one since his memories of way back then were so muddled and fuzzy it was hard to determine what exactly he was remembering.

Cody stopped and leaned against a light pole, his fingers gently running over the edges of the object he had recently acquired from Ary's room. It was a pure white scale of sorts and was larger than anything that would come from a fish or some other reptilian normally seen around Gaia and had this bright white aura of sorts. It had to have some sort of magical properties for it to at least manage to fit in his pocket. Not to mention it was colder than ice itself and was creating a nice little shell of ice around it's smooth surface.

With a soft sigh at all the people huddled outside of the church, the pre-teen removed himself from the pole and continued along the sidewalk. He'd return later when there weren't quite as many people there. Maybe the church would help him remember what exactly happened that day with Lironax and that other person that was with him.

Deep in thought, Cody didn't notice Aludra until he ran into him. Growling, the spawn backed up a step or two and stopped. Damn, he was older and probably not the best idea to pick a fight with. "Sorry," he grumbled, barely recognizing Aludra as the same person from way back when. Hey, it wasn't as if a fuzzy blob and the teen in front of him actually LOOKED similar, save for the pink hair and general skin color.

lux AE T E R N A__x x
Aludra was too preoccupied to earlier notice Cody on the sidewalk near him. Rather, he was... thinking, he supposed. He was remembering all of the different spawn that he'd met, unable to be frustrated by the fact that many of them had more angelic features than he, himself, boasted. Rather, he had a single olive-coloured wing on his ankle and a shattered one on the other, which fluttered weakly when it was thought about. True, the non-scaled portions of his skin as well as the larger portion of green in his eyes came from Cestoloria, but no one noticed that just by looking at him. No less, he was 'blessed' with the tell-tale coupling of horns and a tail, that only made his demonic side more evident.

As such, he jumped when he was run into, accidentally dropping his cigarette and blinking at the growling male with a blank and rather confused look on his face. "S'fine," he replied with a nod, before slowly remembering who it was the boy was, though the backdrop definitely helped the situation, only aiding the Humility boy in remembering the small kid who'd been noted by Lir as resembling what their child would be like; that thought still made him uncomfortable, but seeing the boy again certainly didn't.

"Wait- ...Cody?" he asked, cocking his head and causing the halo he wore atop it fall askew, a weak smile coming to his face. "Fancy meeting you here of all places. Assuming you even recall who I am."

xInsane_Night_Skittlesx
Cody frowned and peered closer at the spawn he had run into. Gah, not another one that knew him and he didn't! Maybe he should stay inside or away from popular places, just to avoid such confusion. Thankfully, the teen seemed aware of his memory loss.

"Yeah, I'm Cody and no, I don't remember yo-Aludra?!" he gasped, staring at the halo on the greed spawn's head as it shifted and caught his attention. It glowed fiercely and with the strength of the sun, similar to the scale within his pocket, but had less of an icy feel and more of a light feel. The one thing he recognized and desired above all lay in his sight and within his reach. All he had to do was reach out and grab it, then run like hell. Heh, maybe even flying would work as he couldn't see any sort of wings that would be of use to the spawn.

"I do sort of remember... You had that halo at that church with Lironax," Cody said after a couple moments, attempting to regain his composure once again. It wasn't often that his memory worked with him nowadays to spit out a name and a face when previously there was smudges and nothing. So strange...

The broken wing on Aludra's ankle fluttered up at the other greed boy, as though trying to get his attention that it was still 'okay', despite the obvious fact that the thing could barely move anymore, the bones that jutted out from it awkwardly making it an unpleasant sight. However, with how long it had been bandaged up, it was trying to see if any other friends would give it sympathy rather than it just being ignored for the most part because no one could see it.

Aludra chuckled in amusement at the sudden realization of the other boy, though noting the direction of the boy's turquoise eyes, one hand immediately went to the halo, pulling it from his head and maintaining a tight grip on it. More prized than anything, that halo. Especially since there was a possibility that it would get his sin donor away from the Facility and back to his collection of things. Above all, that was likely the best of it's uses.

He gave the boy a wry, slightly defensive smile, using his tail to put out the cigarette butt and ignoring the pain that shot up his spine with a trained effort. "I did have this halo when Lira and I were at the church. Matter of fact, I've had this halo almost all my life," he stated with a nod, almost looking prideful for a moment in time. "So tell me, what have you been up to after all this time?"

Blue-green eyes flicked down to the fluttering remnants of Aludra's ankle-wing. It was a gruesome sight to behold with the bones not exactly in the right places. It took all of the spawn's concentration to drag his eyes back to the halo and not make any sort of comment of face about it.

"You've had it that long? Wow..." Cody muttered, trying to think of something he had had for that long. Nothing in particular came to mind, other than the feather necklace Edes had given him that day at the library. Then again, there was that golden frame hanging in his room that he couldn't for the life of him remember how he had gotten it. Something involving a craft store...

"To be truthful, I haven't a clue outside the past week or so," Cody muttered, stretching his wings briefly before pulling them as close as he could to his body to help keep them from freezing in place. Just because they were wings didn't mean they weren't completely insensitive to the cold air around him.

"Well, I suppose I have found out just how many holes there are in the mall security and have perfected my lock-picking abilities, but that's not exactly much to brag about. Boredom is a sad thing to behold, but tell me, what have you been up to?" Cody wasn't one to brag, but it was true. With a lock on his door and nothing really to do for hours and hours on end, he might as well figure out how to pick it, right? Not to mention the mall was a great way to get out of the house and not get lost... Much like he was now.

Aludra chuckled softly at the boy's incredulity at his statement, thumb rubbing an edge of the halo gently. "You're telling me. It's the genuine article, as well, none of that costume store nonsense," he replied, nodding decisively, proud for the object, perhaps of the object, and though he longed to shove that pride into the depths of his being, he didn't, and instead let it hover apprehensively on the surface of his being, surrounded by a barrier of humility that was only just being broken. 'Matter-of-fact, I've been contemplating exchanging it for... something quite a bit more valuable. From an emotional standpoint, of course.' But he wasn't going to say that. Greed boys, after all, if he knew someone else was doing this for Drake... he would explode.

"Is that so?" Aludra asked, perplexed. Now why would the boy be having amnesia like that? Good a question as any, and not one that he would ever be able to reply to properly, at least not without more information regarding the situation in its entirety. The fact made him feel more worthless than usual; that feeling he did try to push away. There was nothing he could do, right?

Tri-coloured eyes blinked in slow surprise when he was informed of what exactly the other boy had managed to do and he laughed rather incredulously. Maybe that's the sort of thing he should spend his time doing. Lord only knew his 'invisibility' skill would make him an amazing thief. "Me?" Aludra blinked again, pointing to himself, as though having forgotten, himself, that he was there. Why on earth would anyone want to know what he'd been doing with himself? "Not a lot, really. Learning to drive this motorcycle my guardian got me, hard with only one single mother of a family member who knows how to drive, and that would be an automobile, trying to educate myself on playing the guitar. Nothing at all that interesting, and much less so than your escapades." Lucky.

"Can tell it is. For one thing, it doesn't look like plastic and doesn't have feathers or glitter glued onto it," Cody commented, wrinkling his nose at the thought of anything with all that fake crap on anything. It was disgusting to be quite honest and a mystery as to why people would purchase anything like it.

"A motorcycle? Truly? Wow... That's awesome. My guardian won't buy me much of anything. Don't blame her, could just steal it anyways," the spawn replied, scowling slightly. "My escapades were done out of sheer boredom and couldn't possibly have as much entertainment value as yours." Humility kids always seemed to reject the fact that their lives could be better than another. It made him almost happy that he didn't possess that virtue.

Almost.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:07 pm

Aludra made a rather similar face to the other boy at the similar idea, nodding a few times in agreement. He would definitely never actually glue anything onto his halo, though the adorning ribbon and feathers had been there for quite a while.

He couldn't help the slight smirk at the hint of envy from the younger one. "You're certainly lucky for that talent, I'll admit. Although the main reason that my own guardian is able to purchase such extravagant things is some huge thing about a family fortune and parents who were killed when he was just reaching adulthood," Aludra explained, as though trying to justify the fact that he was getting more than Cody, which he didn't really think was fair.

"That information aside, even, adventures born of boredom are typically more exciting, at least in my own experiences. Ones that progress from having things given to you... well, they tend more toward creating the boredom than solving it at times," he said, chuckling softly to himself, before looking toward Cody with interest. "So tell me, if you would, how it is you get away with your stealing?"

Cody nodded, figuring that if Shadai had come from a wealthy family he, too, would have the luxury of buying whatever he pleased. That being said, he'd probably be bored to hell as well. Humility kids, always the ones to make it seem like their good fortune isn't all it seemed.

"How do I get away with stealing? It's all in the timing and slight of hand," he replied with a slight smirk. "I can't give away MY secrets, but it takes a bit of patience and knowledge. It's basically how TV says it is; you got to have speed and skill to steal," he continued, trying as hard as he could not to fully give away his secret to finding holes in security, the timing most people had for shifts, and where the sensors couldn't detect the object leaving its precious store.

"Guess I could make a pretty good magician too, since that seems to be the basics of "magic"," he added, finding the thought rather interesting. Granted, most could do actual magic anyways so what was the point of a fake magician when you could have a real one?
PostPosted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 5:41 pm

Aludra listened with interest to what the boy had to explain about stealing, although he couldn't quite imagine how he would do it himself. He wasn't the best at patience; he knew that for a fact. He also knew that he could nearly vanish to the people around him if he focused enough, which could also be a good technique to use in shoplifting. He shook his head. He didn't need to shoplift, his dad had enough money to buy him a small country. Of course, nothing compared to the rush of doing something illegal...

No, Aludra's brain. Wrong. You don't do illegal things for an adrenaline rush. In his own head, he rolled his eyes. 'Correct, I simply slash up my arms for an adrenaline rush. Much healthier.'

A small smile came to Aludra's face at the idea of the boy being a magician, a few friends of his coming to mind and altering the idea of a street magician just a little bit. He pulled out another cigarette and lit it with a snap of his fingers working like a firestarter. "Oh, I wouldn't sell yourself quite so short. You could easily make yourself a nice profit as a con artist if your tricks truly are as good as you claim," he pointed out, a devious grin on his half-scaled face.

Cody grinned. "NOW we're talking. I like the way you think, but I have one question; why have we not talked more? I would have had far more fun with you around," he replied, mind spinning with possibilities. It wouldn't give him the same thrill as actively stealing things, but it eliminated the whole security problem.

"Hm, although I'm not exactly the most trustful looking..." he added, frowning slightly. He looked mostly normal, save for the feathers in his hair and demonic wings on his back. Oh, and bright pink hair, but that seemed to become more and more normal as the days passed.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 11, 2010 5:18 pm

Aludra grinned despite the compliment, glad that he'd made the right choice in suggesting scamming to the slightly younger male. 'Course, the idea had more been inspired by those strange friends of his whom he helped with their druggie-schemes. In all honesty, he really didn't know why he hung out with those kinds of people. He mused on it for a moment while simultaneously listening to what Cody said, taking a drag from his cigarette. He supposed the most logical reason was that it was to bother his perfect-and-rich-yet-gay guardian, but that didn't make much sense either: He was smart enough and old enough to have figured out his 'father's prescription drug problem.

"I can't tell you I'm completely sure why we haven't spoken more. Though I'm sure that we will be doing so quite a bit more with this recently development in our relationship," Aludra commented, chuckling softly. Sure, he'd always gotten the 'be a good influence' talk, but he'd never been an influence at all, and helping another greed child be a bad influence... well, that was fun with the possible bonus of a pay off, wasn't it? Aludra choked on the smoke of his next drag when Cody said that he wasn't trustful looking and grinned through his coughing and the smoke-filled air, waving his hand to try and will it away.

"Is that so? Well, I wouldn't quite say that. You've at least got the feathers in a noticeable place," he said, nodding as his one remaining anklewing flapped for attention, the other twitching a bit and making him wince. "And lack the tail, the horns, the other portions of the body that make certain churchgoers steer their children away from you..." he grumbled, then glaring at the church before turning his attention back to Cody and smiling once again. "That aside, what say you we get this operation underway?"

"Ah, that is quite true. Quite true indeed, so I suppose you have a point then." Cody replied, pondering some of his recent outings and small crimes he had committed along the way. Although despite that, he was pretty sure he would be admitted into the church with little difficulty, unlike his friend, Aludra.

"Of course we shall be conversing more often, that's a given, isn't it? After all, this isn't a one man show we'll be conducting so lets get on with it," he added, grinning mischievously. If there was one thing he liked hoarding more than items, it was money and anything to do with it. He was the one that would pick up those pennies one would absentmindedly drop, just to add to his treasure. It didn't seem like much at first, but after a while it adds up to a lot. Granted, quarters and other large coins helped his little treasure hoard along at a bit faster rate but whatever.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 12:28 pm

Aludra grinned at Cody just a bit. Yeah, it was the unfortunate truth. It was also a rather ironic truth given the fact that, first of all, Aludra was the one who wanted to be able to get into the church without a problem. Second of all, it certainly seemed that Cody was doing more bad things than Aludra had been doing recently. Well, for the most part. He was sure that there were certain parts of the bad things that Aludra had been doing that Cody wasn't taking part in. At least, he hoped so. Preteens should not be getting into the business of relationships.

...but who was he to talk?

"Well, if this is your operation than do not believe for a second that I won't enjoy spending quite a bit more time around you," Aludra joked in a teasing manner. He would enjoy spending more time around Cody anyway, but it was fun to make fun of his greed side. In a way, it helped to keep him from hating it too terribly or just constantly telling himself how awful it was. Taking another drag of his quickly dwindling cigarette, he nodded up toward where he knew there was a store. "Shall we depart, then? We'll need to gather a few supplies before we're able to begin this operation and as amazing as I'm sure your stealing skills are, I wouldn't trust many people to manage to steal a folding table."

Cody smirked, also knowing that there were few low-key shoplifters that could successfully steal a table or any other large object successfully. And yet, here he was getting ready to do such a thing. It wasn’t like he could hide it in his pocket anyways. “Yes, lets, before people begin to get suspicious,” he commented, already noting the various people watching them out of the corner of their eye as if to deter them from doing things they shouldn’t.

And how could he blame them? Here they were planning to steal a folding table and merchandise to resell it on the streets for major profit and neither could claim to look too terribly normal. They both had pink hair, after all. As well as various demonic and angelic traits such as the feathers in his hair and Aludra’s overall look.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:07 pm

"Smart idea," was Aludra's simple response as he gestured for the boy to follow him, leading him through many different passageways and alleyways that most people didn't know about. It was odd that it was only when they entered the shadier neighborhoods that Aludra started waving toward people, seeming to recognize them. He sent a sheepish smile back toward Cody.

"I don't keep the best company, and despite all bonds I share with the angel of humility, I hope that you won't judge me on keeping them. If it suits you, I have a couple friends who've been in this business much longer than I have; they've become relatively quick-witted in the ways of con artistry. Well, at least one of them has," he explained with a small smile, milling around and just looking for anything that he could find that would be of use at this point - including a table, mostly because stealing one would be a bit of a hassle.

Cody allowed himself to be led through the various alleyways and streets that seemed abandoned by most of the richer, nicer people. Instead of the usual idiots, darker and far shadier looking ones inhabited the seemingly deserted back alleys. It was almost perfect for, say, a thief to start his own little gang and sell off merchandise to unsuspecting customers. “Judge? Why would I judge someone with such awesome friends?” he asked, with a soft smirk. Oh, he was going to have so much fun now that his “job” was something he excelled at. Stealing for a living seemed almost too good to be true. Almost.

“Hm, you think that would work as a table?” he asked, pointing to a rather poor-looking table. To most, it looked like trash but to him all it needed was a bit of glue and duct tape to be usable once more. “I think I have some glue at home that would fix that up real easily.” Nothing else really caught his attention as being worth using for a table. Of course, nothing of value jumped out at him which meant treasures were well hidden within this little group of Aludra’s.
