Hello! My name is Devorah (or just Dev) and I am 14. I absolutely love animals and that is why I became vegetarian! I haven't eaten meat for almost two years now. I think vegans are awesome, but I don't think I could do it (my mother would go crazy probably) so I have been trying to convince my family to switch to buying only dairy products from humanely treated animals. I am horrified by animal testing as well and try really really hard to use only cruelty free. My parents don't really like that because those products usually cost more, but in my opinion I think spending a few more dollars is alright if it spares a few animals getting experimented on!
I am also a big nature and art lover (I dance and want to become a photographer), and I live with two cats. My cat Ryoko was from the animal shelter. Well I guess that's about it! I look forward to getting to know more vegetarians here. ^^

Welcome!! I love your avatar! I've been wanting to get the peacock item for a while, but haven't gotten around to it.
and I don't think being cruelty free has to be expensive. I usually skip out on most cleaning products and clean my house using just baking soda and vinegar....and the occasional bit of olive oil and lemon juice. ^^ Not only does it do the job just as well as any product in a bottle, but it's MUCH cheaper and safer for you. The only other product I buy is Dr. Bronner's and the occasional tube of Tom's of Maine.
I'm sure though that your parent's might not like that idea. most people have been brainwashed to believe that it's impossible to have a clean house without a bucket full of chemicals. but keep this in mind, because once you're old enough to live on your own it'd be great to pull yourself away from all that overpriced chemical water.
^^

Thank you! ^^
We actually aren't all that bad with cleaning stuff (aside from carpet cleaner and stain remover for clothes), it's more of the hair care and cosmetics and things we have trouble with. Cruelty free hair products are easier to find now that we have a natural grocery store in town, but it costs quite a bit. We use White Rain, but that's only about 50% cruelty free...
Thank goodness I don't need yucky acne stuff though, and I don't wear makeup unless I have a dance performance (people say it looks like I'm wearing makeup even when I'm not!), that makes being cruelty free so much easier!
Well I'll just keep trying! ^^ I think it's so unfair and just plain stupid that animals have to suffer for us to have silly things like nail polish... And it's just common sense something like that would be toxic anyways!

ahh, I see. I always forget about make-up and hair care stuff, being that I don't use them. ^^
It is awful, how our species tortures other species all in the name of beauty. I know it sounds evil and judgmental of me, but whenever I see some "pretty" drowning-in-make-up bleach blond, I find myself thinking about how ugly she must be on the inside...

I totally agree with you! I think people should just be happy with their natural beauty. And personally I think those "drowning-in-make-up bleach blonde" girls are not very pretty on the outside either... ^^
