In this world of Pokemon, there are many people. There are those that wish to study; Those that wish to conquer; and those that quest to become stronger than all the rest. You are a Pokemon trainer. Not just any run-of-the mill trainer, either. You are one of the few, the elite: A Pokemon Master.

This story concerns you, and several others like you, but it also concerns a most peculiar man. This man is a Pokemon Professor. He is an expert in the studies of Pokemon genetics, and the energies and powers of Pokemon.

His name is Lucian Larch, and, seven years ago, he disappeared from civilization.

We come to now. You are all busy with your lives; battling, exploring, participating in contests, etc. Then, in the midst of whatever it is you are doing, an Abra appears in front of you. It has an envelope clutched loosely in its claws with your name on it.

Written on ornate paper inside is a short letter:

Hello.

You have been chosen to participate in a great tournament the likes of which you have never seen.
Invitations such as this have been sent to others of your caliber, and I do hope all of you accept.
If you are interested, all you must do to accept is hand the envelope back to the Abra.

What happens next is up to you.
But, of course, you accept, and once the invitation is handed back, the diminuative Psychic-type Teleports you and your Pokemon away.
Far away.
To a desert forgotten by many.

Basic Rules:

- Gaia ToS applies.

- I expect high-school-grade literacy. Use common sense and/or a spell-checker.

- A basic understanding of BBcode is greatly appreciated.

- For idiots: No God-modding, power-playing, general unsavory RPing 'tactics', etc. will be tolerated.

- The battling in this RP will be using the rules of the video games, and the physics of the show. This means you will be restricted to the things that the Pokemon are normally allowed to do, but you have free will to be creative with their moves and abilities. Common sense should dictate the medium, or in case you don't have any, or it fails, I will.

- PM all profile applications to me with a subject line pertaining to this thread. Anything posted here or elsewhere will be ignored/deleted.

- PM any questions or concerns about this thread to me, and I will endeavor to help you understand to the best of my abilities.

- I expect at least 3 good-length sentences as a minimum. Outside of battles, I will expect more than this. Explore and expand your character.

- Please, try to have fun. My job is the serious one.

Battle Format:

- Battles will be in a turn-based free-form style.

- Post with a reaction to whatever your opponent did, then put your action in detail, stating what will happen IF IT HITS, and what the aim of doing that action is. Your opponent may have something up their sleeve that you and/or your character are unaware of.

- The what-if part is technically OOC, so your character won't have knowledge of it unless it is hinted at in battle, or it's otherwise stated.

- All Pokemon, in game terms, are levels 90-100.

- All Pokemon have all of their moveset available to them at any time, AND MORE. If a Pikachu wants to charge electricity in its fist, and try a Thunder Punch, by all means, go ahead, if you think it can hit anything with those stubby arms. But please, be reasonable, as well as varied.

- Abilities will be taken on a case-by-case basis, but as a general rule of thumb, they have both [If they have more than one option] unless it makes them blatantly over-powered. Things like Syncronize will need to be initiated. Things like Liquid Ooze or Poison Heal will be inherant. ABILITIES WILL ALWAYS HAVE PRIORITY OVER OTHER MOVES.

- Common sense rules, but again, I have the final say in disputes. I promise to be impartial and fair. Any discussions on my ruling should be taken to PM, and not stay in the thread.

Pokemon Team Rules:

- Six Pokemon to a person. Character-wise, you may have more than this, but they will not be available to your character during the duration of the RP.

- I want as much variance as possible, both in-team and out. This means two people having the same Pokemon will have to be heavily weighed, and probably won't happen if I have my druthers.

- If someone has already taken a Pokemon you want, discuss it with them through PM. One of you will have to switch. If you both refuse to give in, then bring it to my attention.

- No Legendaries. Period.

- Only evolved, fully-evolved, and non-evolving Pokemon will be acceptable. And for that last one, you'd better not have something cutesy like Pachirisu, unless it's secretly a bad-a**. Remember, your character has beaten at least one, if not more, of the Leagues.
