Hey fellow metal lovers I got into Amon Amarth a couple years ago.. and i really really like them. I was even thinking of going on a concert trip someday. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone could suggest other viking metal bands that sound kind of like Amon Amarth. Thanks. scream Rock on!

Well, you won't find any other Viking Metal bands that sound like Amon Amarth, because Amon Amarth are Death Metal. I give you other bands that sing about Vikings, or Death Metal that sounds a bit like Amon Amarth.

Digi pretty much summed it up, if a bit tersely. Amon Amarth's a death metal band. Actually, melodic death might be an even more accurate description. I'm not really very interested in folk metal, so I don't have much to say on this topic. If Viking-themed death metal is your thing, though, I'd recommend Unleashed's crunchy mid-period albums such as Across the Open Sea and pretty much anything by Enslaved if you want a more blackened flavor. Other, more melodic, folkish offerings: Aeveron's EP The Ancient Realm, the great British one-man (and one-album) band Oakenshield, anything by Falkenbach, and a young Canadian band called Profugus Mortis.

I thought it was the other way around. confused A moment, please...

...Nope, you're correct. It certainly doesn't help the confusion any that they named their first album as Blackguard after their old band name.

They like pissing with your mind like that. Nice group of guys though, really. I enjoy talking to them everytime I see them live.
