OK, sadly it seems the year 2009 is leaving us along with the term "the naughties" (I know it's a lame term but I loved winding up my friend Mark with it) and we all sit on the cusp of the next decade (will it be "the tennies" or "the teenies"?) and I'm here to pick your brains as to which games has it's fanbase mashing their foot into the ground in eagerness to play it.
So lets hear it: What games you look forward to in the new year?

For me, while God of War 3 has me licking my lips right now, there's one game which I'm literally gushing for it's release: I know Quantic Dram games are an acquired taste but if you have it then consider this your cuisine heaven. To those who have never played a Quantic Dream game before: Slap yourself in the face very hard then go out and buy yourself a copy of Fahrenheit (aka. Indigo Prophecy) on the PS2, PC, Xbox or on Xbox Marketplace and enjoy what happens when you make a truly unparalleled gaming experience.

Yes, I'm also very much looking forward to God of War 3... I mean, I was excited about it at first. But then I found out that my very favorite band, Dream Theater, is gonna be recording a track for it... My excitement level jumped way up.
And yes, Heavy Rain has been my most anticipated original title, since 2007. I honestly hoped that Indigo Prophecy would start a trend. I mean, it's an adenture game, like Myst or Post Mortem, only revolutionized. I was hoping every Adventure Game would become like it. Too bad people don't get it. I guess they'd rather be playing Call of Duty, and anything else with brainless online multiplayer. And although the storyline in Indigo Prophecy kinda derailed at the end, IMO, I still loved the overall experience. But Heavy Rain is looking like it's gonna be 5 times more awesome than IP. I wish there was a concrete release date.
Another game I'm really looking forward to is Alpha Protocol. I mean, the idea of Mass Effect or Dragon Age is cool. But if you have that sort of game, only in a modern realism setting, based around espionage... Story wise it kinda seems to me Syphon Filterish, which is awesome. But gameplay wise, it's gonna be a whole new ball game. I can't wait. It was supposed to be released this September, but considering how many awesome games came out this season, I'm glad it was delayed. Cause I'm running out of money.
Oh, and for the record, 2009 might've had a lot of great game releases, but overall it sucked, so I'm glad it's leaving us.

So far this is absolutely nothing that I'm looking forward to...I need to wait till later in the year when more information will be available on games. But so far I'm not interested in any of the game franchises which will be releasing new games.

If you are accepting it has some great game releases, what made it suck overall? Or are you aiming more away from the world of games on that one? Yuuki Rosaro If you are accepting it has some great game releases, what made it suck overall? Or are you aiming more away from the world of games on that one? Well, I'm not gonna get into it, but my dad died. Not to mention all those celebrities, including Michael Jackson, who was my favorite singer. I lost my job... It's just been a sucky year. Frankly, I think video games are the biggest thing that actually helped me get through it. Yuuki Rosaro At least this is a better answer than saying "Final Fantasy 13/14". Actually, I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy 13. With X and X-2, and Kingdom Hearts, and the FF7 spinoffs, I pretty much lost all my faith in Squenix. But this one's got me paying attention. I mean, so far, what I've seen are improvements. The battle system looks like it went back to being at least semi-turn based. Menu based, anyway. The trademark vocal song is done by a female British singer, rather than Gackt or another piece of J-Pop trash. I'm not saying I'll definitely buy it and lurve it. But it's the first Final Fantasy I'm actually paying attention to since 2001. It might be decent.

Christ knows how anyone could survive something like that. Biohazard EXTREME Yuuki Rosaro At least this is a better answer than saying "Final Fantasy 13/14". To be fair I too have to admit to having Final Fantasy 13 on my reserve list on LoveFILM (though that's not if my flatmate doesn't import an American copy first) however I have no enthusiasm to it's release nor expect much from it. Final Fantasy editions are not even real Final Fantasys any more. The retained staff is all but gone so all it is now is an average J-RPG with a name more familiar with good J-RPGs. If you want the good J-RPGs Final Fantasy used to be sadly you have to get on your PC or defect to Xbox and buy "The Last Remnant".

Well, I honestly think that Final Fantasy 13 could be an awesome game. But I'm calling the one thing that can, and probably will derail its storyline. The main character, she's this badass soldier chick who kicks a lot of a**... And I'm willing to bet, that she's gonna fall head over heels in love with the most feminine, pansiest guy in the whole game. I'm willing to bet that's what's gonna happen, and it'll probably be the worst part of the story.
And yeah, I'm really not expecting to get the Final Fantasy experience from it, in traditional sense. I really do miss random battles and a world map. But it still looks like a stellar game.
I got my PSP to fill my JRPG void. And honestly, I find that I enjoy playing JRPGs a lot more on a handheld, because that way, I can watch TV while I'm grinding.

Well I'm not interested in any of the franchises that are releasing sequels. I don't know of any "new" games that have alreay been mentioned but I'm sure as soon as I am aware of some there will be some I'm excited about.

The Okami game for DS. Can't wait. <3 <3 And, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, though I don't have a PSP. Lastly, although I don't have a PS3 either, yes, FF13.

Here's some games which have no proper lineage but come from reliable publishers or interesting concepts: Heavy Rain - The trailers may make it seem dry but trust us on this one, at least try and check out Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy sometime between now and march. MAG - If shooters are sorta your thing then I cant imagine asking for more than a game prepped to be the first 128-player online FPS on any console. DC Universe - If you ever played City of Heroes/Villains then this is the next step. An MMORPG based around super-heroes instead of the generic Tolkien and Lucas settings the rest seem to live in.
