I have a few facebook friends who insist on posting statuses that bash Christians specifically. Like this one :
'Thinks Christians should stop trying, let people believe what they wish to believe in, STOP SHOVING IT DOWN PEOPLE'S THROATS, don't advertise the s**t, don't boast about the almighty whats-his-face on facebook, in schools, the workplace, let people come across you fools and your god on their own, don't suck them into t...he vortex like you do to every poor soul you grasp in your greedy little fingers.'
Or...
'Oh how I hate Christians. Especially the kind that like to rob those who 'believe'. You should not have to pay any form of money to believe in your god. 'God' is not about money. God is this exact opposite of money.'
That second was about tithes and offerings.
All this just gets under my skin, and I really don't know how to deal with it. I stand up for my faith, but it gets shot down again and again. I just don't know what to do.
I totally agree with what Believer og God said, it was dead on. If you are so secure in your faith and doing th things that God commands (such as telling people about Him) and they see that, it's a huge compliment. God ses that.
I feel that evangelism is one of the most important things that we as Christians HAVE to become adept at if we are to please God. Here are some things to remember (I suggest you write down these scriptures and pull them out when you feel stressed or insecure).
1- It's not that person you're fighting against, it's the spirit within them.
(Ephesians 6:12
2- It's not you they are rejecting, it's God. If they don't appear to accept what you have to say you did your part. Say your piece and keep it moving and have faith that God will work in their lives one day.
3- If your friends think that way about God, you told them about Jesus and they aren't swayed one bit, ask yourself if you should keep hanging out with them or keeping contact with them.
(Ephesians 5:11, 2 Corinthians 6:14)
4- don't grow weary in well doing.
5- Jesus told His people to spread the Gospel and not to compromise.
6- Grow in your relationship with God and He'll tell you what you need to say, how you need to say it and who to say it to.
You aren't being "crazy" or "too harsh" by telling people what God says. No matter how unpolitically correct they think it is, ALWAYS stand on God. Don't fear those that can do harm to your body but fear the one who can destroy the body and the soul. If you care more about what people say than what God says, there is a problem.
I'll get somemore scriptures on this tomorrow
