News from General Manager Chloe Strife
A memo from the desk of the GM has been sent out to all major wrestling news sites and reporters. It reads:
Quote:
GCW is in need of a new start, and with that new start should bring new champions. Therefore, all of GCW's Championships as of right now, are declared vacant. Now, I am announcing the formation of a tournament for the vacant GCW World Heavyweight Championship.
And to jumpstart our new working relationship with Durem Championship Wrestling, I am offering up four of the eight spots in the tournament to four wrestlers of DCW's roster, of their GM's and mine's choosing. As for the other championships, their new holders will be decided at GCW's last Pay-Per-View of the year... New Year's Impact. As for the tournament, the first round matches shall take place at New Year's Impact, then the second round will be held in February, at the Crossroads Pay-Per-View. Lastly, the finals shall be the main event of GCW's biggest Pay-Per-View... Gaiamania.
Until then, GCW fans...

And minutes after the announcement, FORMER GCW World Heavyweight Champion, Lucifer, issued a huge announcement from his Myspace:
Quote:
GCW has been my home for years. But now, as of a doctor's ruling, I will have to sit out two months due to assorted injuries. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal for me, because hey. I'm the GCW World Heavyweight Champion. I have a guaranteed pay clause in my contract, saying that whenever I hold the belt, GCW has to pay me.
However, I can no longer have the ability to sit back and enjoy that clause, because as of a few minutes ago... I'm no longer the GCW World Champion.
This announcement made me re-think my stance on what is going to happen with my life now. On one hand, I can scrimp and scrape by, waiting to come back to wrestle for GCW... Or I can retire from the sport I love, and I can get a job to get by, without having to put my body through the punishment of wrestling.
It's a hard decision, but with the help of my lovely wife, and my beautiful children, I believe I made the right choice. Because the choice is nobody else's. It's not my wife's, it's not my children's... It's not my doctor's, and it certainly isn't GCW's ownership's...
I choose the latter... After a long career in GCW, that included four GCW Championships, many Match of the Year candidates, one retirement, and a successful comeback run... I'm hanging up my boots for good this time. I love GCW, but it's time to let go. I'll say this though. To all my fans, keep supporting Gaia Championship Wrestling, and I'll keep coming to all the GCW events.
To GCW management, thank you for supporting me and allowing me the chance to work here. It started with one match, and it grew into a great career.
Later,
