-He woke up.
He woke up, and that was enough to confirm it in his own head.
Things were not as they appeared in the prestigeous school that was Barren Pines.
Had it been someone more... rational or fearful... the realization that his girlfriend, with whom he'd spent many a recent days swappin' spit and affection with, had died of an incredibly contagious disease Lucas probably would have felt more trepidition and fear in the days after the memorial. But disease was rarely something young boys worried about, and the fact now apparent.. that he'd yet to show any symptoms or died of the disease himself did little to the notion. Other than prove that there WAS something more henious at hand. And that something more tangible had a hand in the death of his friends.
The thought had crept upon him slowly. Between grief, tired delerium, a life time of rotting his brain with constant violent and deluded storylines, and the sheer frusteration and inability to explain away the events... somewhere in there... something had clicked in the teen's brain. Suddenly as he awoke.. suddenly there WAS an explaination.
He had been training his whole young life for this... unnumerable Resident Evils, countless Silent Hills, House of a 1000 Corpses, Persona 4, a slew of dark survival horror plot lines nibbled at the edges of his mind, leaking and intwining into his thoughts.
He'd been ignoring the strange discomfort and general sense of silent fear that had been radiating from fellow students for weeks now. But the death of his friends... and his girl. Why was it that it seemed so suddenly centered around him?
It was fairly simple. He was the protagonist.
And something was in need of a serious a** kicking.
It was as simple as that, he assured himself as his foot crashed through the wooden chair, splintering it into three large pieces. All he needed to do was find out the objective. To hunt down whatever b*****d was behind this. And then that ******** was going to find out REAL quick what happened when you laid a hand on protagonist's friends and family.
He kicked at the wood until a leg was free, grasping it like a bat with a dangerously sharp edge. This was bullshit.. but atleast it wasn't "holy water" Clocktower bullshit. It'd do for now until a better weapon presented itself.
He didn't bother to change. Didn't bother with the fact that gee.. he should probably go to class. Exiting his dorm room with the wood gripped firmly in his hand, his expression was dark, eyes feverishly scanning the hallway. He needed a clue. A puzzle to reveal something that might give him an idea of what he had to do... what had to be done.. to make things better again.-

Elke had no classes that day, for some reason. All of them had been cancelled. Or had substitutes who had sent the students back to their dorm rooms. And that meant she was skulking around the first floor, waiting in hopes of catching her boyfriend or Giselle - while avoiding the doors to the staircases, which seemed to be very Iffy in terms of lighting and avoiding frightening monsters.
Something, somewhere on the first floor, crashed, and she reached into her pocket to grip the reassuring weight of her cell phone. What was that? Should she call Avery? Should she do something? Would someone be hurt?
Stupidly, she thought, she went looking for the source of the noise. It was, she was remarkably astounded to find, Lucas. Instinctively, she started to back up, but... Something was wrong. With Lucas. "L-lucas? Are you all right?" Elke took a few steps forward, tentatively reaching out to touch his shoulder. Sure, he was a total Jerk, but hadn't his girlfriend just died? He looked kind of unhinged, and it was her Duty to make sure he didn't get hurt... "D-did you lose something?"

Elke's hands flew up into the classic don't hurt me pose; she backed up, quickly, and kept her hands out where he could see them, just in case. Her green eyes were huge in her face; this was definitely creepy. Horribly creepy. Definitely calling Avery time, but - but - If she put her hands near her pockets, would he think she was going for a weapon? He seemed to -- that piece of wood, he was holding it like it was a weapon, she'd seen it, that pose, a few time in the movies.
"Objective," she squeaked, "Key? What are you talking about? Lucas, it's me, Elke. Are you okay?"
She paused, lowering her hands a little and sliding a little further backwards. Just in case. "I - I only have my room key," she said, "W-where are you trying to go?"
