His words had given him new hope for these lands. Though he had met only one so far, Vian, a strong male of the sun soaked sands, Kopa already felt at home. But truly, he needed to know more than just one member here, he felt still somewhat distant. And though he was still trying to settle in a den spot, he could not choose, not just yet, not without knowing what his purpose was, just yet. So he walked and marveled at the stone structures he knew he could walk towards and next to. Though he already knew which ones could not be penetrated deeply.

Kopa was worried though, of how he could handle himself among others, among groups of others. Still, his words were very strange, he couldn't pick the right conversational tone. It would get better, he promised himself, and so he walked, searching for another face to tell him more of his home, of others here, of how he should go about his day. something, some form of guidance or speech to keep his excitement flowing through his veins while soaked in sunlight.

Perhaps it was a good thing, then that Meilin was the first member he'd encounter now. Perhaps it wasn't, only the encounter itself would tell. She wasn't really one for conversation either, though generally it was because so few could catch her interest and keep it, let alone her respects. She had initially been much colder before, much less social, but since meeting Vian and becoming a mother, more importantly-- since coming here she'd begun to experience a new level of openess. No longer was she flat out impossible, but now simply a bit... challenging.

She left the temple, having gone to see if she could offer some assistance by hunting something down for any of the caretakers in it's shadowed walls. Now stepping into the sunlit path of statues she wondered what else she might do to pass the time.

It wasn't as if there was a great deal to do in the desert when her mate was busy with patrol, as he was today. Perhaps she'd go find her nephew or son and spend a bit of time with him.

He quite possibly stumbled upon her for a reason. He saw her form, delicate against the sand, and smiled, she seemed like a pure light on the sand that was golden adn flame lit by the sun. He took a breath, he needed to meet another face, but could he do it? He gulped, and walked towards her, stopped when close enough and smiled, giving a slight nod of acknowledgment. He still didn't know the cultural needs of saying certain things to one another, "Hello," too simple. was it enough?

It made him nervous, and it wasn't her fault at all no none at all. He had never spoken to a female outside of his immediate family, he was such a solitary cub he didn't feel the need to seek out others from his family. Perhaps that was his downfall, but now, it seemed as a blessing as it drove him to adventure far from the Pridelands, to here. He smiled at her, ears flickering, almost falling back slightly in his shyness and he dug his forepaws slightly into the sand. "It is very nice to meet you, I am Kopa, I've just come not long ago, traveled quite a ways," his speech again. He bit his tongue slightly, tried to focus. "Forgive me and my words, conversations are sometimes, hard for me," he blinked and played with teh sand again, caught his focus. He seemed like a cub caught wandering too far away. He would have to have that remove itself from his form. He was grown now, an adult, a hunter here in the lands he knew were his home forever more. He didn't know where everything was though now, not sure where the water was, where the best hunting grounds were. "forgive my imposing, but do you think you could guide me to where the water is? I still know not...er, don't know where certain things are withi the pride still."

Meilin paused in her step, looking up at the male in her path with a mild look of curiosity, one eyebrow arching and the other lowering just a bit, skeptical until he spoke. Clearly he was nervous, so she schooled her expression down.

"Kopa, you carry the scent of the Pridelands..." It was a bit faint given his travels, but it was the most dominant smell about him besides that which was his own of course. She knew the scent well, her nephew and his mate carried it when they first met, though it was also extremely faint, not to mention that Matifu had returned with it after his own journey. She focused on the rest of what he said, lifting her eyes to take him in briefly. "You shouldn't apologize for your words unless you didn't mean them, Kopa. No one here is going to harm you for saying the wrong thing, so do relax a bit. I'll show you about the lands, but first, who was it that let you in?"

She didn't mean to seem blunt, but did want to make sure he had been let in and not simply intruded. With so many little ones in the lands now it was natural to be cautious.

"Forgive me, I should have said so before. A patrolman, a male by the name of Vian, he was the first to speak to me here, adn greet me, he showed me which way to the heart of the pride," he offered with a smile. She was intuitive, knowing things merely by scent, or knowing of his colored pelt. He wondered which rank she held here. Kopa was grateful to her kindness, her words, as short as they were. He had told Vian that his words meant more than he knew, and it was true, what was spoken and heard by Kopa was important, and would help him not only feel more like he belonged here, in his new home, but he could adjust to more conversational speak with practice. Then one day, he hoped, he would not second guess words as they rolled off from his tongue, one day he could speak what his mind wished in a way that was not awkward or strange to any who heard his voice.

There was so much to learn of his new home, and he wondered if he would be able to in the moons that would rise and set with the breaking of the dawn and sun. The sands moved and changed things, he knew sand could break everything down, or reveal something new from below. Would he be able to marvel at everything and still be able to function properly? He smiled to himself, shook his mane slightly to get some of the itching sand from it, he would have to get used to it, in time. He would have all the time he needed to adjust, learn every dune and the lack thereof. He had a future here, and he had others to meet.

"Hmm..." She rumbled in answer, nodding just slightly. "Then you spoke with my mate. Have you just arrived then? If you're looking for Pharaoh Muroki or Queen Johari, I can bring you to them, unless you've already seen them. You mentioned needing to find the water supply first, though, right Kopa?"

Surely that was still his goal, he was likely thirsty if he'd just arrived in the lands. That said, and that thought, Meilin turned to lead him towards the lake listening for his answer as they went. He seemed eager, and rather passionate about the prospect of living here, no doubt the royal pair would be very appreciative of this, as would the priests and Kainda. She herself was still memorizing and reviewing lessons long since passed, but she didn't deny being fascinated by the depth of history and culture in this place. So many prides these days were so straight forward. You live here, you sleep there, you hunt now, you follow the rules, the end.

No one really had a story to tell anymore, but this place... "Do you mind if I ask if you came from the Pridelands, yourself, Kopa?"

"I've not met them yes, but I've been told to view the den sites in the meantime, and try t get a feel of this place first and foremost, I'd rather not get lost only a couple days in while being here," he said with a light hearted laugh. He flicked his tail and walked following her, "for now Ive love to just see where he water is here, and of course, take a soothing drink, afterwards I have plans to seek both the king and queen to meet them formally." He walked next to her and smiled. Her mate then? From what he knew, though he did not like to make assumptions, they seemed good for one another. They were both so independent and individual of themselves.

"I don't mind you asking at all, I've journeyed here by myself, I've been close to my family, but I never was very social as a cub or as I grew. I spent a lot of time by myself, you an your mate are the only ones outside my family I've had such long conversations with. I just find it hard to find the right words in conversation, and I get nervous," his eyes watched the sands as they moved while being pushed by the sand. It was so gentle, but so forceful, and could smooth and erode rock. "I like that I've gone on my way for the first time, its an adventure all my own." He smiled at her, flicked his tail, "Now, do you mind me asking what your name is? So that I remember the lioness who has been so kind to me?"

"Yes, that would be the best plan, I'd think." Meilin agreed, bringing him back around to the temple and to where the lake rested for all to enjoy. "This is our main water supply... Don't mind the water lilies, it's perfectly fine to drink. The main thing to remember is not to get too close to the center isle there." She gestured with her head towards it, where the shrine sat. "Only the pharaoh and a select few others are allowed there, it's a sacred place. Other than that you're welcome to drink from here, or swim. This and the temple itself are usually the most populated places during the midday, as you can probably imagine already it gets rather hot out here at high sun, and too much exposure can be deadly."

She paused, settling onto her haunches to allow him to drink as she spoke in answer to him, having just realized that she hadn't introduced herself yet a moment before he pointed it out.

"Yes, my apologies Kopa, how rude of me. My name is Meilin, I'm a huntress in these lands, and I certainly understand where you're coming from. I wasn't very social for the better part of my life either. Vian was the first lion that I held extended conversations with as well, he seems to bring out that side in others."

She smirked, amused at her own light quip, a bit of sarcasm-- fondly so though. She and Vian would no doubt have a good chuckle about the irony of this observation later once they met up again at noon to rest from the heat.

"There were many others after that, I can assure you... so I'm sure that meeting him first is a good sign that you'll make many friends here if it is your wish. The pharaoh and his queen are both very friendly as well as most others here."

Kopa walked with her and admired the sands around themselves, the oasis before his eyes. He took hold to what she spoke of, knowing where and not where to tred. There were many things he had yet to learn, but he was excited about it none the less. He was glad to have met Vian and then so promptly Meilin, perhaps it was a stroke of some sort of fate that had him meet both in succession. He wondered how many members there were, how many little ones, he would be excited to play and learn with cubs, he was still a child at heart.

This place was his home, and he wished he had ventured here sooner.

"I can't wait to meet everyone else, though depending on the size of the pride, from what you told me, it might take a while but I am ready for the endeavor. " He flicked his tail, yawned and shook his mane. "I admit the sand I will have to get used to, but for now, it is just fine," he raised his eyes to her, thanking her with his eyes.

"I want to explore more of the lands, do you have any suggestions for my first trip Meilin?" he knew she would know of where good spots were. He wanted to see it all.

Yes, the sand, the, at times, blasted sand had taken so long to adjust to, but not here. For her it had been in another place, a place she'd had no desire to be and no choice in the matter either. She'd learned to live with it there, so coming here after a reprieve in the jungle had been easier at least. She thought back to their son, Huang, who had stayed behind, then, and wondered how he was now, with that female of his. Her visions told her that they had since relocated, maybe tonight she'd have to see if she could see anything else.

"Hm?"

Shaken from her thoughts, she looked back to Kopa again.

"Oh, the temple, for certain, except for the upper-most rooms-- those are for the gods, I need to escort you to one of the rulers, though." Well, with little ones around they weren't exactly going to simply let one wander the lands without meeting the king or queen's approval first. She tried to think of someplace after that that he could explore, but really for now-- "They would be better to field such a question anyway, to be honest. I spend more time in the temple, at the lake, or out hunting. There are quite a few little ones about and as you can imagine as a result, many mouths to help feed." Not that she'd have it any other way, she enjoyed being active. "Though I suppose there are the gardens on the other side of the lake there."

Kopa nodded and understood, "Could you show me which way to travel to find them?" Kopa wasn't sure where they would be residing right at this moment. But her mention of the garden and temple he kept in mind for later. At least that way, after formally introducing himself and going for a hunt for the little ones, as he felt the need to help already, he could venture on his own.

"I will be sure to seek them out first and foremost, and then after wards look for a good hunting area for the children," he already felt at home. He hoped the others here would like him, approve of him.

The sands were forever changing, moving, but they settled every so often every day. Kopa has moved, was changing, but would forever be settled here, he knew it.

"I'm escorting you to them, so there's no need to worry about getting turned around."

Once she was sure he was ready to continue she stood again, giving her tail an idle flick.

"You may want to get used to the sands first, this isn't the place to go over exerting yourself with something like hunting, in this heat." Not to mention the risk of being injured by the prey. Inexperienced lions had been killed before for such follies, none here-- but it didn't take much to figure out the risks of desert life, and after hunting in the Firekin lands she could honestly say she knew first hand. "Come, this way, then."

He nodded and smiled, stood next to her and walked with her.

There was still so much to do and so much to venture out towards, so much to decipher and so much to not prove, but help with. He felt the need to apply himself sooner rather than later, and he was glad that he was not letting himself get carried away by merely wanting to see everything, and not do anything.

Times had changed, and as the sand, would continue to change, but would always remain here, linger here, and never go far.
