Another night, another unfortunate person pushed up against a wall.

One might think that after a while Tanzanite might get bored with ripping the starseeds out of poor, unfortunate humans who stood very little chance against an agent of the Negaverse. However, if one thought that, one would be horribly, horribly wrong. She never got tired of it, and the wicked grin upon her lips was evidence of that. The man screamed something; words that Tanzanite had no desire to listen to. It was all background noise, a chorus to the verse where she pulled out his ******** starseed and watched him slip into the coma that would ultimately lead him to death.

For Tanzanite, this was a good night.

“Such a fuss, such a fuss,” she murmured as her hand slipped through his chest, groping blindly for that small speck of life, “You should be honored. You will die to serve the Negaverse. This is the best death someone like you could hope for.”

Khalla, newly dubbed Alkaid by some strange turn of events, hadn't actually been on rounds yet. It wasn't that she was ignoring this sudden sense of duty, or that she thought she was incapable, it was simply that she was aware of how impossible it was going to be for her to fight alone. She'd seen how little help she'd provided Nemesis, and although it wasn't a useless power in every situation, she knew she was meant to be a Senshi with a team.

Thus, much like the night of her awakening, she was simply walking home from work when she heard the screaming. Much like before, she was drawn to the noise. Knowing now that screaming in Destiny City was likely a bad thing, she took the opportunity to transform into her Senshi form, still completely unfamiliar with the process. Once back on her feet after the long and glittery process, she beat a fast pace down the block towards whatever the skirmish might be this time. She rounded the corner, eyes narrowed, only to find.. her first negaverse lieutenant. She knew about them, she just wasn't expecting to see one so soon. For a moment, she was simply struck dumb with fear, but then instinct kicked in and despite all the worries she had about fighting alone, she couldn't just leave this poor soul at a negaverser's mercy.

"Leave that poor man alone!" she shouted, balling up one fist as she steeled herself for the negaverse lieutenant to turn her attention to her instead. She could do this, she knew she could do this!

Not another one.

Tanzanite turned her head slowly towards the voice, her features emotionless. There as no hint of surprised, no twitch of annoyance. Christ, these girls were like a plague. Tanzanite could barely recall the last time she'd been able to enjoy a nice, relaxing evening of killing people without being interrupted by these... children. Still, there was a certain thrill, a shiver that raced along her spine each and every time one of them issued a challenge.

“This..” Tanzanite's voice was low and monotone, her head tilting slightly to one side, “poor man? Tch.” She clicked her tongue in disgust. Without so much as looking at the man, she ripped her hand from his chest, and his starseed along with it. She let his body drop like a sack of potatoes, useless now that she'd taken what she needed. It was clear in the way she stepped over his body, moving towards Alkaid, that she had no regard for human life; they were a crop to her, something to be harvest and discarded when they were no longer of use. Like any crop, they were expendable, nothing but a source of energy to feed the Negaverse.

“You poor, deceived little girl,” the Lieutenant said, her expression almost pity as she regarded Alkaid, “I freed that man.”

It was unfortunate for Alkaid that she had come across this particular Lieutenant to pop her combat cherry. Tanzanite had spent the time since corruption doing little other than having run-ins with the less than approving sailor scouts, and the result of all that fighting was one long, thin burn scar that circled her throat like a choker and a decent amount of combat experience. Not to mention that she gunned for senshi like a foxhound on the first day of the hunt.

The second she set those cold grey eyes on Alkaid, she was out for blood.

“And now I'll free you too.”

Alkaid couldn't remain cool, she couldn't look on with indifference, and she certainly couldn't stop the look of horror that flashed over her face as the man crumpled at the feet of this.. monster. Her eyes momentarily widened, almost bulged, glued to the star seed that lingered in the negaverser's hand. It was a shocking moment for her, like a child being told all her nightmares were real. This really happened.

"You killed him," she whispered, sad and low, her eyes sliding away and down to the man that was as good as lifeless at her feet. All at once, the horror began to fade and her hands balled into fists. That Alkaid-temper came rushing out, her eyes narrowing on her opponent and all thoughts of being ill equipped for this battle vanished.

"I'm not such an easy prey," she said, her fury evident as she spoke. There was none of that calm, precise and measured speech left. She wanted nothing more than to take the time to lecture her, but even she knew that was a lost cause. Instead, the next words out of her mouth were: "Guiding Light!" Her hand raised and released the ball of light quickly, but even as it was honing in on its target, she was leaping away to find.. something. She knew it didn't do enough damage to more than stun her for a second, and she was already anticipating the laughter. What she was looking for was anything lying around, anything to just.. hit her with. One lesson learned from that temperamental Senshi that had been the cause of her awakening. Sadly, she didn't seem to have Nemesis' luck at summoning random blunt objects.

“I want you to know before I kill you,” Tanzanite began, her tone untouched by the joy her words expressed, “That the look on your face is something I will cherish forever.”

And it was. That horrified, wide-eyed stare. The way it melted away into that terribly predictable outrage. The way sadness and sympathy turned so quickly, replaced by righteous fury and the desire to punish. It was the latter that brought their souls into such close proximity; punishment. To punish Alkaid for her naivety, her foolishness. To punish Tanzanite for her inhumanity and cruelty. A common goal that both sides shared, both thinking themselves on the right side of the battle.

Then, not so suddenly, that ball of light was flying at her. Ah, their magic. It was something which Tanzanite found fascinating. Not just smoke and mirrors, not some useless weapon, but true power. She made no move to jump out of the way, a maneuver that would have been easy enough to do, but instead spread her arms to embrace the attack. It hit her square in the chest, and while there was a small bit of pain, it did exactly what Alkaid expected; it bought her only a few seconds of time while Tanzanite shook it off.

Now she knew what the girl was capable of, and the way her lips twisted into a terrible grin said that she didn't fear it.

Alkaid wouldn't have long to search, for as soon as the effect wore off, Tanzanite was rushing forward. Those long legs carried her at an impressive speed. If she reached Alkaid, there would be no fancy footwork or cheap tricks; she would throw herself at the girl, aiming to tackle her right at the waist like a football player.

Too slow, she was just too freaking slow. She was a fledgling, a beginner, a novice and any other word for 'complete and total newbie' that came to mind. She had never fought anyone a day in her life because she preferred to settle her problems with words, not with fists. Yet here she was, willing to resort to something that she previously deemed brutish, and all for the vengeance of a man she'd never even met. What had this sudden change in her life done to her? She'd always been driven to help others, but this was already a lost cause.

She couldn't fight for a life already lost and now, it seemed, she was going to be fighting for her own life. It was just like her to run in blindly to save someone without a thought to her own well-being. She knew it in this instant as much as she knew that her own love of others, of bettering the world, would always lead her blindly into these situations. Well, if she survived this one by some twist of fate.

It was that thought, that thought of dying by her own foolishness, that went through her head as she realized there was nothing to help her here. Whatever luck aided Nemesis wasn't with her tonight. She turned partially back to Tanzanite, just in time to see a whirl of purple flying straight at her. She didn't even have time to yell before she felt her feet swept out before her and her body crashing down to the pavement. Her head slammed harshly into the ground, making her teeth grit even as a resounding stab of pain shot through her skull. She tried to pull her feet up to kick off the purple she-devil, but they were pinned by the weight of her body and completely useless to Alkaid, leaving her wiggling like a trapped worm.

Still seeing stars from her fall, she did the only thing left to her disposal at the moment - she swung her fist. Hard and fast, aided by the new strength this form afforded her, aiming for what she hoped was her general face area. It was really hard to tell with her vision a bit clouded.

That fist collided with Tanzanite's cheekbone, her head snapping hard to one side from the force of the blow. A fellow beginner might have brought their hands up to their face to stifle the blood that dripped from the corner of her mouth, or perhaps even rolled sideway to prevent another attack. However, Tanzanite seemed calm and collected even with the taste of blood blossoming across the inside of her cheek. After all, once you'd been smashed in the face by Obsidian, other blows just didn't tend to seem like such a big deal.

Lips parted as her face split into a grin that was not so much amused as malicious, half of her teeth stained with red. She wrapped her hands around Alkaid's wrist, wrestling the senhi into a position where she could sit upon her stomach and press the girls wrists hard into the pavement.

If successful, it would leave Tanzanite straddling Alkaid's midsection, her wrists pinned to the pavement above her head. A swipe of her tongue cleared the small stream of blood that trickled from the corner of her mouth, and Tanzanite let loose a low, mirthless laugh.

“You do know the rules of the game when it comes to being a hero, don't you?” Tanzanite whispered, her voice little more than a low hiss as she leaned in, “Heroes die.” With that, she would slam her head forward in a well-aimed head butt that would bring her forehead into hard, painful contact with Alkaid's nose.

Alkaid had to admit to a mild satisfaction when she saw the Negaverse lieutenant's head snap to the side, despite any misgivings she once had about using violence. Her pride swelled even more as the blood blossomed over Tanzanite's teeth, trickling out of her mouth, like a trophy to show Alkaid just what she'd done. She knew too, however, that it was likely to be the only blow she landed tonight.

Her only warning was that grin, that malicious grin that spread over those lips. Then, all at once, she was pinned beneath someone that seemed to have a great deal more practice in battle than Alkaid could ever dream of. She clenched her teeth as she struggled against the weight on her midsection, hands straining against those that bound hers roughly to the pavement. She could feel the gravel scraping into the backs of her hands, digging into her flesh. It wasn't a pleasant feeling, but somehow she knew this was only a foreshadowing of something worse to come. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't get the other girl off of her.

Just as Alkaid was about to make a snappy comeback to the cheesy line Tanzanite delivered, she saw a whirl of purple, followed by a blossom of fiery pain on the bridge of her nose. Despite all lady-like appearances, she screamed. Her torso buckled, her hands wrenched in their grips as they tried to cover her nose, and she screamed in a way that only someone in pain could. Had her mind not been fogged over and her stomach reeling with nausea, she would have been well aware that Tanzanite had just broken her nose. However, all she could actually manage for the moment beyond struggling in vain against her human bonds was a hiss and some garbled insult that was almost entirely unintelligible.

After a few moments, she opened her eyes, teary-eyed though not outright crying, to stare up defiantly at the purple-haired witch. Her nose hurt like nothing she'd ever felt and her stomach felt like it was doing back flips from the pain, but she wouldn't give her the satisfaction of breaking her just yet. If no one intervened soon, she'd be nothing more than a smudge on the bottom of the girl's shoe, but for now she could still pretend she had some hope left. For once in her life, Alkaid was praying that someone would help her instead of the other way around.

Tanzanite would give the girl her trophy as she spat in her face, clearing her mouth of the blood that had begun to collect there. She could feel the pain of a nasty gash inside of her cheek where the fist had connected the soft flesh with a row of teeth, but it was little more than a pinprick to Tanzanite. Negligible beneath a tidal wave of anger and hatred that overwhelmed thought and reason. Her

The girl screamed, and Tanzanite felt a chill run up her spine that had nothing at all to do with the cold. That sound was sweeter than any symphony to Tanzanite's ears, more poetic than any words would ever be. It was a sound that told her she was doing something very, very right. There was a rush of adrenaline, a quickening of her heartbeat as she shifted one hand to hold Alkaid's wrists in place, and brought the other down in a hard punch to that oh so pretty face. She would break the girl bit by bit, until there was absolutely nothing left but bones and flesh scattered along the pavement.

Tanzanite would teach her what it felt like to be a hero.

It had been such a quiet night. Gabbie, occasionally known as Sailor Saiph, breathed in the cool air and exhaled on a sigh, enjoying the calm. And then the screaming had begun and she'd started running. Transforming quickly, she took off running. Before long, she could see the back of a dark haired female threatening a paler girl. Then, she eyes widened. The pale girl was a senshi like herself. And, unless Saiph acted quickly, she would die.

Grinding her jaws, she continued to barrel forward, growling the words "I don't think so, b***h!"

Then, she called up an attack that would make the dark haired girl feel as though a semi-truck had just crashed into her body.

"Tail Thrash!"

And in the dim, evening light, a glowing swirl of energy took on the shape of a long dead, primal behemoth and roared towards the dark haired girl.

Alkaid grimaced as the spray of blood spattered her pale face, and instantly wished she hadn't as the motion made her all too aware of the throbbing pain in the center of her face. In fact, any small movement of her facial muscles felt like she was deliberately prodding the break.

Her vision was a little blurred from the blow to the back of her head combined with the pain blossoming from her nose, but she saw the fist as the negaverser raised it above her head in preparation for another blow. She was helpless, weakened and in pain, and all she could do was watch as it came down straight towards her. She felt the pain as her fist collided against her cheekbone and eye socket, instinctively knowing that she'd be sporting a beautiful shiner if she managed to live through this. She cried on impact, but it was short lived and chopped mid-scream as she realized that the motion hurt her face almost as much as the blows had.

Amidst the pain, Alkaid became vaguely aware of someone approaching them, someone that sounded very angry. There was a ringing in her ears from the blow that hadn't quite cleared, but she heard something that sounded like a mumble and then a shout that was just as garbled to her hearing. Suddenly her eyes, complete with blurry vision, were filled with a glow that was approaching quickly. She couldn't make a damn bit of sense out of it from her current predicament. Once it was directly upon her and the girl above her, she felt her body rocked with a weight and hit with something hard that nearly knocked the breath out of her lungs. She grimaced from the pressure put on already existing wounds, and between that and the disorienting glow, she had absolutely no idea what was going on with the purple-haired witch anymore.

It was like being punched in the chest.

By a semi-truck.

The force of Saiph's attack slammed into Tanzanite with enough force to not only knock her off of the girl she had been so intent on beating to death, but also to knock her all the way into the brick wall of the nearest building. When the pressure finally subsided, Tanzanite fell to her knees on the pavement, struggling to catch the breath that had been knocked out of her. It took only a moment before her head snapped up and her gaze set upon the newest sailor scout.

She rose, quietly and quickly, and dusted the gravel from her knees. There was a stabbing pain in her side that suggested a broken rib, but Tanzanite did her best to pay it no heed. She had certainly endured worse wounds, but never had she tried to fight with them before. Craning her neck slightly to one side and rolling it over to the other with a loud crack of vertebrae, she set her sights on Saiph. Then she was moving forward again, step by slow step, carrying herself towards the woman how had most recently interrupted her pleasant evening.

In the few breaths she had before the purple haired woman began to move, Saiph was already in front of the pale girl, shielding her. Turning her head slightly, she gave the girl a brief apologetic smile before speaking quietly.

"Sorry about that, if you can move, get out. I think things are going to get uglier in here real quick."

Turnign back to fully face the other, she couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration for the woman's ability to even move after crashing into the wall like that. But it was slow movement. Narrowing her eyes, Saiph tried to calculate how much this woman'd be able to do after taking the full force of a tail thrash attack. If she didn't have broken bones, there should at least be some deep and rather painful bone and muscle bruises. Logic screamed at her to grab the pale girl and run, but she wasn't about to turn her back on Ms. Purple Hair and hope that she would politely let them go. So, instead, she gave a feral grin, braced herself and got ready for a fight.

She was actually being.. rescued? If her face hadn't felt like it was about to break in half, she probably would have laughed from sheer joy. As it was, even moving felt like her head was going to burst and sent a wave of nausea and pain swarming over her. That purple-haired shedevil really packed a wallop.

"I'm not going anywhere," she said feebly, using her arms to push herself up weakly. She managed to get into a sitting position before her eyes began to dance with fuzzy stars. That's when she realized that she couldn't go anywhere if she tried because she probably couldn't even get to her feet, or stay on them if she managed to get up by some miracle.

She turned her head (groaning inwardly as she did so) to look at the woman that had been temporarily holding her captive, just able to make out a purple blur coming towards them. She couldn't say anything else or give this rescuer words of thank your or praise, she could only stare and hope that whatever she could do was stronger than that wicked woman. Whatever tiny bit of hope she'd had was reignited, and she was actually hoping to get out of this alive, even if she was stuck on the ground with no dignity at all for the moment.

Everything about Tanzanite screamed that she was made for moments like this. From the long, thin scar that circled her neck like a choker to the multitude of small bruises and scars found on her pale skin. The muscles in her back screamed in protest, her ribcage burning with the pain of at least one cracked rib. However, Tanzanite had no regard for life. Not that of the man she'd killed nor that of the two girls that stood before her. Not even for her own.

Saiph's comment brought a twisted grin to her lips, tongue tracing the contour of her upper lip to remove the blood that soaked it. There was very little about Tanzanite's expression that could be considered sane, or even fully human. The way her lips pulled back over her teeth seemed more like a snarl than a smile, her narrowed eyes soulless and without mercy. It took only a though for her to summon the jumper cables. They materialized in her grasp as Tanzanite leapt from the pavement, calling upon the power of the Negaverse to launch her a few stories up.

When she came down, it would be swinging. Her ribcage burned as she twisted, wielding the cables like a baseball bat, the metal clamps aimed for Saiph's skull. She knew that if they ran now she would have no hope of chasing them down, and she refused to suffer such failure.
