Taking a deep breath, the orange haired woman hopped up, shoving the final box of macaroni into the back of the cabinet.
The shopping had been exciting, the first visit to the grocery store for her and Gunn's new apartment (okay, fine, so it was only new to her, technically), but the actual arrangement of the food into the cabinets and refrigerator had proven to be much more of a chore than she'd expected it to be.
One step back and her hands rose to brush against one another as she stared at the pantries. She'd managed to fill most of the cabinets with jars upon boxes upon bags of food and ingredients. Most were easy instant meals (like hell she knew how to cook), but there were a few rare items that called for more than just a zap in the microwave or stove top. The fridge was now happily packed with an array of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, a few snacks scattered here and there. A variety of meat packed one drawer (not that she knew how to cook any, but since her roommate was a 35 year old man, that automatically meant he knew how to...right?), another with vegetables and fruits. Even his little pack of cigarettes (why?) had an adorable tin of mints laying atop them, a silent message from one very attractive lady to her nicotine-addicted fiance.
The freezer was more cluttered than organized, packed to the brim with frozen tv dinners and individual pints of ice cream. One could never have too much ice cream, Ursula would be happy to argue.
Overall, it was a job well done, in her opinion.
Giving a satisfied nod towards the kitchen, the Negaverse Captain hummed to herself, now intent on relaxing on the couch until she figured out what she'd get into next. She'd already changed into her own clothing for the excursion out, so now settled down on what would be Charonite's makeshift bed, wearing nothing but an old pair of jeans and a somewhat fashionable tank top. She hadn't tried to be dressy, not yet at least. There was still so much left to be done as far as rearranging went (especially since she'd gotten the green light for the move-in!) so it would be a terrible waste to apply makeup or fix her hair only for it to be ruined by the sweat of furniture arranging.
Sighing to herself, she snuggled up against one of the many offensive cushions that littered the couch. Oh, what a day it had already been! First, she'd moved most of her worldly possessions into her boss's apartment on a whim, and then she went and gets engaged to said boss?
She giggled as she hugged onto the pillow. Ursula had definitely not expected such a situation to spiral out of control as it had, but she was still so giddy at the notion of becoming the future Mrs. Killingworth. He'd agreed, she'd agreed.... they were going to get married!
Not only was she getting married to the General-King of the Negaverse, but she was going to get to gloat about all of this to practically everyone. Obby would totally be glaring, Lina would just die, Tanz would be hooting from the sides, and Khal would....
Oh god.
Khaldun.
She stilled, the pillow soon forgotten. Khaldun was going to be utterly furious about this news. He'd told her time and time again how much he despised his guardian, and she'd attempted to be considerate and console him when needed, but... oh god, she was... ********. If she married Charonite, that would make her Khaldun's stepmother.
Her eyes wide, one hand rose to cover her mouth. Okay, okay, she could.. she would deal with that. Khal wasn't a bad kid, he was just rough around the edges. He was practically grown up anyhow, so it wasn't like she'd have to worry about silly little things like bedtime stories or brushing teeth. But god, what was she going to tell him? How was she going to tell him?
She sat on the couch, deep in thought, for a good ten minutes. Ideas came and went, none seemed like they'd float with the moody student. Her eyes glanced up towards the newly stocked kitchen, and that's when it hit her.
Dinner.
Everyone solved their problems and had their discussions over the dinner table, right? Well, god damn it, she would bring this makeshift family together, and she'd do a goddamn good job of it too!
Nodding her head in her own affirmation towards herself, Ursula stood up and marched over to her purse, which now sat on the nice little end table, complete with the new adorable lamp she'd found that matched his hideous beige wall color. Digging in it, she withdrew her cell phone and flipped it open. Dialing the number to the Barren Pines office, she pressed the sleek phone up to her ear and made her way into the bedroom.
"Yes, this is Miss Johnson.... I have a message I need you to send to Mr. Cilentani. No, I do not want my name attached..."
The door to the bedroom closed behind her as she made her way towards the dresser. There wasn't but a few hours to get things ready, but if she hurried, she'd be able to get everything done just in the nick of time.
