Physical Build: Has the build of a muscular man, but with the long work hours he forces upon himself, mental hardship, and little time spent outside, these muscles are starting to wane. His clothing hides this fact.
Distinguishing Marks: Graying hair, stern gaze with shadowed lids, perpetual five o'clock shadow, frown lines around his mouth, crows feet from a time before the plague.
Clothing: Long and deep pocketed dark mustard yellow buttoned up robes over a set of off-white (almost light gray) cotton clothing and leather boots. The robes have faded staining on the front.
Accessories: Simple now-tarnished wedding ring on his left ring finger, wire glasses, occasional pipe or cigarette and a lighter.

Written Description of Appearance: At 6'2" and forty-five years of age, Simon is second in command of the Scientist Faction, though he quite possibly does not look the role. Thanks to working underground like the rest of the scientists, Simon's skin is quite pale and it is clear that he is not descended from the same heritage as the people of the East, having a caucasian complexion and grey eyes. His fallow-brown hair is kept short with no bangs (as he finds them irksome) and has noticeable graying throughout, especially around his temples. With his height he appears to have the build of a muscular man - and in his youth he rather was - but with the long work hours he forces upon himself, mental hardship, and little time spent outside, these muscles are starting to wane. His clothing hides this fact, choosing to wear long and deep pocketed dark mustard yellow buttoned up robes over a set of off-white (almost light gray) cotton clothing and leather boots. While he tries his best to keep his garments clean, the robe does have some faded staining along the front.

Simon also wears a rather stern gaze most of the time when in public, though when alone this easily changes to looks of despair, anger, or annoyance; the first two directed at his work while the last one is shared between that and Sydney. Rarely does he smile, but he does have lines around his mouth and at the corners of his eyes from a time long before the plague. He also has a perpetual five o'clock shadow and is almost always stubbly in the face. Sometimes he grows out a short beard but that never lasts long once he realizes it's there. Noticeable accessories on Simon's person are a simple, now-tarnished wedding ring on his left ring finger, thin wire glasses, and the occasional pipe or cigarette meaning he does keep a lighter on his person.

Written Description of Personality: If a scientist were asked to describe Simon in one phrase, that group of words would most likely be 'dedicated to his work' or quite possibly 'that gruff, introverted a*****e' depending.

Given his past history with the plague, Simon's one goal in life is to eradicate the world of it, despite having a plague companion himself. Sydney is research as well as his motivation, the femme taking on an eerily close appearance to that of his deceased wife, though her own personality is clearly not the same. And work he does. Simon spends a great deal of his time working, going so far as to skip meals and forgo sleep if he feels he's on the path to something. It's not often you won't find him working, and any sort of interruption tends to make him extremely aggravated at the person who caused it. While he tends to not bother with most people and turn a blind eye to things that are not his work, he's a stickler for the 'keep your area and self clean'. He's worked too hard for his research and lab equipment to become wasted effort, so if anyone should have to rouse him, be sure your clothing is clean, hands are washed, and that you are wearing a surgical mask before you enter his laboratory.

It's because of this he comes off as a 'gruff, introverted a*****e'. That and it seems the happier part of him died with his wife and child. Simon never smiles, but looking at the lines on his face and around his eyes, it's clear he did quite often long ago. While he does have his dislike of the underling scientists, the head of the faction, Sedgwyck, has his respect. It can go as far as to say he likes the man, but prefers to keep his distance - his past making him fearful of losing another to the plague and knowing the other man has more on his plate than even Simon has.

Accessories: Occasionally wears a long sleeve that starts just below her shoulder and ends about 6" away from the tips of her right hand. This is Simon's "fail safe" for when Sydney goes out, the cloth hampering her uncontrolled ability to spread the plague with just a touch of that hand's gold-colored claws.
