Everyn, a slightly vain rabbit came out of her burrow this breezy, cloudy morning and began her day as always, by pruning the white fluff along her chest. How she managed to get twigs trapped in her fur over night was beyond her. In her frustration, she exhausted herself with the rigorous cleaning effort. With a reluctant sigh, she hopped delicately into the open among the long grass. A few rabbits were around in the area around her, talking and playing at they went.
She looked for a fresh patch of grass and nibbled at it delicately, very conscious of who might be watching her. Her blue eyes scanned the open ground from side to side warrily. Just then, an attractive buck no more than ten feet from her attracted her attention immediately. She watched him as her head stayed lowered, pretending to continue feeding. Perhaps she should properly introduce herself...
Carefully, she sat up, brushing a paw up her forehead to brush an ear back. Quietly, she hopped over to introduce herself to the strange gray and black buck. She was surprised they had never met before...
"Hello..." Was her introduction, her voice high and appealing.

Ragwort was having a pleasant morning and had been out silflaying for a while already, filling up with grass and the occasional left over leaf of clover. The grass closest to the warren entries was trimmed short by the many hungry rabbits living on Watership Down, but Ragwort didn't believe in moving too far to look for flay. You stumbled on an overlooked dandelion now and then with a bit of luck, and even without those delicacies grass filled the stomach just fine, so why bother? Since he wasn't really hungry anymore he started to look around at the other rabbits currently out.
A pale doe caught his interest and his nose started to wiggle a little faster. She was making a real show of preening herself and he enjoyed the show, trying not to gawk too much. He couldn't believe his luck as she seemed to want to come over. This good day just got better!"Hello..." "Hello to you too," he said with a friendly grin, trying to remember if he had talked to this pretty girl before, "Your name seems to escape me at the moment, but I do remember it was a pretty one."

Everyn giggled aloud at his introduction. He was very handsome indeed, she noticed as she got much closer. His two toned eyes were mesmerizing to her.
"Oh, well im Everyn. Im quite surprised we have never met before, although im sure this isn't the first time ive spotted you, im quite sure of it" She hinted and smiled. "What is your name, might I ask?"

The large buck groomed his ears, very pleased with the response he got from the pretty doe. Now does were worth at least some effort in his book... Especially the pretty ones, and Ragwort had always had a weakness for lighter hued does. Yellow, cream, tan and white little tails all made him turn his head.
"Everyn, of course," he said, "Pleased to meet you, my name is Ragwort. Out for silflay today?"
It was a silly question since nearly all rabbits that went outside in the morning was out for silflay, but he was just making conversation after all. What they talked about was not as important.

Her eyes followed his paws as they groomed his ears. It was a simple gesture on his part but made her heart jump regardless. His fur color was simple enough she supposed but that's what she liked. She seemed to like the darker toned bucks. It just screamed speed and strength in her mind.
"Oh Ragwort..." She eyed him, smiling. Perhaps she had truly seen him before. The name sounded somewhat familiar to her. But she had been wrong before, so she thought better than to ask.
"Oh yes of course. I always have a bit of flay this time of morning." She smiled sweetly. "But I am a bit thirsty, and would very much like to go to the river. I am afraid to go alone im afriad. Elil frighten me..." She watched him carefully, trying to see whether or not a quiet stroll interested him.

Drinking dew from his flay or just plain rainwater was good enough for Ragwort most days, but he couldn't deny that it was refreshing to drink from clear running water from time to time. And if the lady wanted fresh water, that was what she would get! He was pretty sure there was a small brook half way down the down and the Owsla probably made sure all paths there were as safe as they could be. A rabbits life was never safe, but this tiny risk was one he was willing to take to spend time with sweet Everyn.
"I'll walk you there," he offered, "I think I know a good path to the water. We'll stay safe from elil together."
He was both pleased and a bit embarrassed that she seemed to think he'd make a good bodyguard. Sure, he was larger than average, but he had no idea what he'd do if he should encounter one of the thousand. Run, most likely.
