What an event it had been, meeting Freki and Geri. The two were.. different. They brought something out of her that was nothing if not pure poison. They pin pointed her insecurities and showed her a side of Haemon that she was almost too afraid to see. He had to get along with them, yes, but it seemed like they were dominant over him. They had a lot of control of the situation they had been in.

Perhaps she had just been hoping for that fairytale that she was taught as a child. A wolf that no one pushed around, one that would do nothing but defend her honor and never let anyone speak bad about her.

Such a thing was a ridiculous thought, and.. wasn't what she had a a lot better? Haemon wanted her to be just as strong as him so she could defend herself. So the two would be strong as a team. Did she -really- want to be made into some little fair maiden that couldn't defend herself at all?

But unless she grew twice her size in muscle, she would never be able to defend herself against Freki and Geri.

Through the trees soared a bird that looked as though it had been stained with blood. He was looking for one wolf and one wolf only. It had been much too long since he'd seen little Raelin, and he had a feeling she wasn't going to be so little anymore.

Soon he was able to pick out her pelt from the ground, her blood red paws contrasting with the wilderness around her.

He moved in, landing just in front of the female and spreading out his wings, giving a small screech as a greeting.

"Young Raelin, you are looking quite well."

It had been a while, though, he'd last caught side of her when she was a member of the Tyranny of the Forgotten. Once that broke up, the wolf had practically vanished.

"Is this your new pack?"

"Chi!" Came a surprised yelp as she saw the large bird land in front of her. It had been a very long time indeed. Chi Yoko was originally a gift from her uncle, Haku, to keep her safe once she left her mother. She moved forward and nudged the crow softly with her nose. He carried scents of distant lands, she hoped that he hadn't worn himself out by looking for her.

"Yes.. This is the best pack that I have come across.. Though the alpha is quite frightening. There is a male here. A male I trust with everything. Haemon."

If she could have, she would have blushed. It did sound like she was developing feelings for Haemon, that much was increasingly obvious. But was it dangerous to feel this way? He didn't seem like he wanted to cause her any harm. His fathers, however.. They were a different story entirely.

"Chi.. I hope you're staying around. I could use an eye in the sky to help me make sure that I don't mess things up."

The large crow set his wing on the wolf's nose, his eyes showing that he was full of wisdom and guidance. He wasn't going to leave if she needed him around, and perhaps he could be of more use with this pack.

"Of course, young Raelin, I will stay and keep an eye on you. But we must see about this male of yours. If he is trustworthy and worthy of your affections." Chi Yoko thought highly of the female he helped, of course, or he would not serve her at all.

Haku trained him to make sure that he would be the best companion for the female on her travels.. But it was nice to know that she was now in a pack, where she wouldn't have to worry about being harmed. As long as she behaved herself.

He knew that Raelin had a problem with that.

Raelin moved with the crow, her eyes lowering a little. Haemon.. he was trustworthy. She thoguht so, anyway. She wasn't sure how he would feel about Chi, what with his father both having crows that he didn't enjoy having near him.

"He will impress you, Chi, of that I'm sure. He is a Shaman.. the abilities with blood." She smiled, "Powers that no other wolf can possess, can measure up to." There was a bit of pride in her tone, looking excited.

"Come, you shall meet him."

"I am glad that you have found your home, Young Raelin." Came his content tone, a smile would have been on his beak if it was possible. "This male you trust with everything, though. Would your Uncle or Mother approve of him?"

The bird hopped his way towards the other's den, giving a soft sound as he stared at it. It didn't seem to be small, hopefully it would be big enough for the two of them to have a family someday.

It was just hard to believe that Raelin would end up being a mother to pups, when he had been watching her since she was but a pup on the run.

He gave another small caw before turning to the female.

"Where is this male of yours, Young Raelin? I do not hear him."

Haemon slept lightly at the back of the den, a life time of living with such cruel natured wolves meant that he wasn't truly comfortable falling into a deep sleep. Thus he took light naps through the day and night. His breathing was shallow and his heartbeat steady and relaxed the pulse almost hypnotic to him. At the edge of his awareness his ears picked up the faint sound of claws clicking on the stone floor of the den and he opened his eyes, slightly misted with sleep. Before his usual senses came to him he probed almost indistinctly outwards with his shaman abilities. A small life form and after a moments observation he had mapped out the circulatory system indicating a crow.

A deep snarl formed at the back of his throat instantly and with blind hate for such creatures he pushed his legs underneath him, ignoring the slight pang of pain from his healing bruised foreleg and leapt forwards attempting to chase the bird from his den. In a moments blur of events he caught a flash of red, the bird was not one of Geri or Freki's pets but that did not matter to him, 'Get out bird!' he snarled and snapped at the feathered creature.

A shriek left the female as Haemon moved from the den and rushed towards the bed. Raelin could only watch with horror and Chi lost it, flicking his wings about and taking off upwards into the tree. He didn't go far, he was close enough that the dark furred femme could still see him moving about.

"Haemon!" She barked as her head turned to stare up at the tree where the bird now rested. "You can't attack him! He's the crow that my Uncle sent to watch after me. He was just coming to see how I was and if you were trustworthy." She hadn't mean tto snap as harshly as she did, but she was slightly protective of the crow, as he had been the one constant in her life until she came to the Shaman.

Of course she was still concerned about the male, his wounded leg still seemed to bother him a little and Raelin did not want to see him in any pain from his father's.

"Haemon, Chi Yoko is my friend."

Haemon heard a shrill cry from his female companion but it was a call pushed quickly to the back of his mind with anger. His hackles were bristled and he paced at the bottom of the tree the blood red crow had decided to perch in. He stared up at the crow with venomous vermilion eyes though as Raelin's harsh voice barked out his name he span and circled about on her. His eyes still fuelled with hate, he contained himself enough to listen to her words and then darkly he replied passionately to her, 'Come to see if I was trustworthy? I have never know a crow that knew what that meant.' Which was not strictly true as he knew Hugin and Munin were most definitely loyal to Geri and Freki but right now his thoughts were rather clouded with rage. It had only been a few days ago now that Munin had entered his den leading to the meeting with his fathers.

His tone calmed slightly and he said darkly, 'Some friends you choose to keep.' He was anger at himself now though, he listened as the words came out his mouth and he knew how childish he sounded but it was to late, his frustration grew with himself as he released that his leg was bruised due to the fact he hadn't controlled his hatred for birds last time, after Geri had ambushed him.

He turned his back on Raelin and took a long look at Chi Yoko before turning back on Raelin, taking a long look at her and then simply walking back into the den, into the warmth and out of the cold winter winds.

Raelin did not expect such a reaction from Haemon, she sighed a little and stared over to the tree. "I apologize for him Chi, he doesn't really.. have much of a choice in the way he thinks about crows. His fathers both have them, and they are used against him.. Please just stay in the area, and give him time." She bowed her head a little to the crow before making her way into the den.

At first she said nothing, she moved into the den with him, laying down and pressing herself against his stomach. She nuzzled a little against his furr, taking in his warmth and pleased that the winter winds were no longer swirling in his undercoat.

"I should have told you about Chi, and I'm sorry for snapping." Came her soft words, nudging her nose up against the other's chin as she curled closer. "He was my Uncle's way of keeping contact with me, keeping an eye on me. With my mother being too weak hearted to take care of me, and me being off on my own.. He just wanted to know I was okay."

Haemon watched as Raelin slinked into the den and his vermillion eyes still burned with rage but it was directed at the female or the crow, Chi, now it was at himself he was annoyed. Raelin slipped in beside him, gently pressing her back to his stomach, the familiarity of the pose brought a great deal of comfort to him and his mood lighten almost instantly. She made her apologies and part of him thought that he was due them, she should after all understand his views on such things and still, however equal their partnership he still did not like being spoken to like that. So he did not dismiss the apology with a polite ‘It doesn’t matter’ he accepted it silently and listened to the words that followed.

His tone was much calmer than it was before and it took on its usual darkly mysterious manner that seeped into the ear of the listener, ‘But it has been a while since you last spoke to your Uncle I am presuming. Does Chi bring you news on your uncle?’ He paused slightly but not long enough to allow her to answer the question as he added, ‘Bring him in, I will not harm him.’ He did not like the idea of welcoming a crow to their den but he would make an exception this time.

Distantly inside himself his shaman abilities seem to stir and he wondered why he was being subconsciously pulled to focus upon them. As he lost initial focus with the issue at hand he looked down over Raelin, often finding comfort in listening to her steady heart beat but something unusual struck him and he traced the blood flow to her stomach. Now he understood.

He smiled to himself an wondered about how to go about presenting his discovery to Raelin, he could just announce it to Chi when he asked what news was there for her to tell, paying her back for surprising him with a crow strutting into their den but he pushed it aside, already feeling he'd be immature enough for the day. Multiple thoughts started flying about in his head, about their relationship together and was it solid enough in such a small period of knowing one another, of wanting to be the father he himself had always wanted, whether they would be healthy and strong and how was he going to protect them from Geri and Freki. So while a little confused himself with multiple thoughts in his head it just slipped out his maw and he tried to gauge her reaction, looking for at least one or two answers to the questions swimming in his head. 'You know the other night when... well the consequences are now growing in your belly.'

It was quite pleasing to have Haemon accept that there were things she needed Chi to tell her--She had indeed wondered what had happened with her Uncle. She'd heard about his pack breaking up, about the trauma he went through.. But surely things were better now if Chi left his side once more. It did make her wonder.

She was so distracted by her own thoughts and concerns that she didn't realize Haemon fading in and out until he spoke once more. She nearly choked on her own tongue, surprised that one night of passion had meant that she was now.. pregnant. Of course she had thought about being a mother.. she had even debated back and forth if Haemon would be the right wolf to raise her pups with. That hadn't meant that she was sure she was ready for such a thing.

Then she replayed the words in her head. Consequences. Did he mean that negatively? Did he not.. want to have pups with her? Surely, she had no choice in this. But he.. sort of did. Though she had been working hard on her insecurities, they rose high once more and she swallowed a little as she stared at him, trying to think of the right way to phrase everything she thought and felt all at once.

"I want them." She finally stated, her eyes instead moving to her stomach, finding it hard to believe that there were now living creatures inside of her, that she would need to spend her time protecting as they grew and became strong wolves. "I hope you do, too.."

Haemon felt the muscles along Raelin’s back tense not long after he had informed her of the puppies now present in her stomach and then after a short while, in which he wanted desperately to know what she was thinking, she announced ‘I want them’ he smiled softly with this, she didn’t really have a choice in the matter really, whether she brought them up after, yes she did but actually having them she no longer had a choice in anymore. The second group of five words tore his heart a little and his mind instantly focused more so upon his relationship with the female rather than the puppies.

He nudged her in the shoulder, forcing her away from him and demanding ‘Look at me Raelin.’ Bloody eyes fixed solidly to her own red orbs and more violently than he wanted he proclaimed, ‘I want them but besides that and I believe more importantly, I want you.’ He searched her eyes then for an answer to the unasked question that he was presenting her with, ‘Do you want me as a mate or simply to help raise our puppies.’

Both wolves had high levels of insecurities, perhaps Haemon was able to deal with them better than Raelin but still both were fragile emotionally and here Haemon had found someone he could care for and who he believe cared for him in return and even after such a short period of time he knew, ‘I would be proud to have you walk besides me through this life,’ he whispered to her softly as he leant forwards to tenderly place the right side of his face next to her right.

(Besides Raelin I haven’t RP Haemon much so I hope you excuse all the mushy seeming RP but he’s not always like this, though I think you know this. Though with Raelin I think he can proclaim his insecurities and also takes a lot of comfort from her presence.)

Tears formed in her eyes, though she tried to hold them back, she wasn't able. She kept her gaze locked with the male's, her heart pounding so loud that she could hear it in her ears. He -wanted- her. Surely he knew how badly she'd wanted to hear that from the moment that he spoke to her about the possibilities of them being together.. And he wasn't leading her on, he wasn't lying to her to get something. He meant it.

As his face pressed to hers, she couldn't help but nuzzle against him in a loving way. "I would be honored to walk with you through our life together, Haemon.. As mates." It was not only their children that would keep them together, beause pups grew into wolves that would want to deal with their own lives.

It was love that made her want to stand strong by his side, through whatever came their way. She knew she could handle it, if she had Haemon there with her. Surely, he could sense how fast her heart was moving, how pleased and excited she was to hear that their relationship could be taken to this level.

It soothed her insecurities. Someone actually -wanted- her, and.. she felt like she was good enough to be in a loving relationship with him now. "Our pups will be strong and beautiful."

Haemon kept his face pressed to hers and felt the warm saline dampen his face as Raelin sobbed silently with joy. His eyes soften and took on a light they never had before and he cooed softly, ‘I’m sure they will be my love.’ Though those minutes of silent exchange Haemon sensed her heart rate increasing to such a level it was intoxicating and he nearly lost himself to it, content to simply listen to the effects of his love for her on her blood pressure rather than his shaman abilities at work and alongside that was that developing blood supply to the growths in her stomach.

He rolled his eyes in ecstasy as he tried desperately to pull himself out of the snare and after a moments fighting he pulled away and focused upon her. His eyes were bright and the held a light that said he hungered for more of a good thing but knew ultimately it’d do him no good at all. He flickered his tongue out and across his lips moistening them and then fixing her with vermilion eyes, ‘I’m sure they will be beautiful if they take after their mother.’ He smiled softly at her then and his eyes changed, overcoming the intoxication of his shaman abilities and remembering the crow outside. ‘You better go and get Chi then, you can tell him the good news.’
