Thousands of years ago, the Elves of Barrowdale thrived happily, warring rarely with their Human and Syren neighbors. Their beliefs lay soundly with the mother of Palaise and its neighboring continents being a lovely tiger who created all of humanity, it's land, and it's floral accompaniments. They worshiped at the base of a great white tree that had sprouted and grown in the center of Barrowdale. It had grown to be the tallest tree within miles and miles of the city. After thousands of years of pledging their lives to their Mother Enviika (Mother Tiger in Elven), a group of young Elves began a rebellion. The Comrade Rebellion, as it has been called for years to come, grew larger and larger until the race was forced apart. The rebels became rogues, and instantly overpowered the peaceful Elves, forcing them south to seek refuge among their human brethren, while the rogues burned Barrowdale and massacred Enviika's great tree. For hundreds of years, the old ones tried to make peace with the humans for all their wrongdoings, and eventually were accepted into Merwynth City, Valcrest, and even Silverkeep Palace as part of their society. Meanwhile, the Elves of the rebellion had made their homes in the ruins of Barrowdale. Years later, the halfblooded Elf/Syrens raged an attack on the one-mighty fortress. Their weapons, skills, and numbers were vastly superior to the rogue Elves, and the rebels were forced farther north into the Erimarsh Swamp, where they still live. Some say they reside underground, some in the trees, and some say they wander endlessly... Sleeplessly... Invisible.
