Field selection is City Streets
Broken tar and faded yellow lines make up the “street” that runs down the exact center of the battle field. On either side of the road, sidewalks with pieces of concrete here and there are broken off while “building walls”, set with windows of sugar glass and rotating doors are placed on one side of the street. On the other is a broken down building with barred window and a boarded up door. Faint traces of grim and much cover the walls of both “buildings” while trash cans and trash bags decorate the street; some are torn open with their contents spilled out while others are not. A sewer grate nearby continually pours a stream of fog into the air while, on the corner near a crossroad, a phone booth is seen. The phone, hanging off the hook, makes a continuous busy signal. Dying and dead bushes line the building sides while occasional breezes blow the dead leaves onto the sidewalks and road.

Lumin tried to hold his breath as he walked out onto the field, disgusting! It was bad enough that such places actually existed, but then they had to go and actually make them real, just horrid! He went over to the trainers box, and looked around, doing his usual artists take, he actually found the layout to be decent enough for a drawing of something that would like this kind of place, a Muk or a Weezing, perhaps.. or, an Arbok. He picked the green colored ball out of his backpack, not missing the irony there, and threw it out onto the field.
Impasto appeared out of the Pokeball, not noticing the gas, but looking around. This appeared to be similar to the kind of alley that would have been the site of a modern day duel between Tybolt and Mercutio.. perhaps he could even picture Mercutio dying there.. and Romeo taking vengeance for the death over... Oh, right.. a battle.. How bland. Perhaps he could imagine that he were Mercutio.. no.. Romeo.. yes, that would be a better casting...

Raina entered the stadium in a manner that she hoped exuded confidence, she was after all, an experienced battler but this was different. This was her first battle using more than one pokemon, and that made her kind of nervous. She didn't like not knowing what was coming next and it was pretty hard to know what was coming when your opponent could easily switch out their pokemon.
As Raina reached the trainer's box she looked across to her opponent and waved "Hi there, good luck!" she called, hoping that the other trainer couldn't hear the nervousness in her voice. Looking at the arbok that had been sent out Raina quickly began calculating strengths and weaknesses and finally came to the conclusion that Branimir would be her best bet, at least for now. Reaching for the 3rd ball clipped to her belt she grasped it, pressed the button in the center and tossed the ball, releasing her giant canine companion in a glow of red light.
Branimir emerged from the pokeball with excitement, he liked to utilize his skills and battling was one of his favorite ways to do that. His excitement was short lived as he surveyed the battle field, how repulsive. The smell made him sneeze and he scrunched up his face as he tried not to breathe, the fog in the air didn't help any as it seemed to give the scent a lingering quality, as if it would soak into his fur and be there for days. Growling quietly to himself he shook his head and continued his survey of the field, he didn't want to be caught unprepared. As he spied his opponent, an arbok of strange coloration he began thinking of all the ways he could gain an upper hand while hopefully avoiding the toxin that was held within it's glands. He'd really rather not deal with the ill effects poison had on him if it was at all possible. While he waited for the first command to be given Branimir tried his best not to breath too deeply, the air in the stadium was definately not of the best quality at the moment.

Lumin nodded as the other trainer greeted him, then stared at the Arcanine for a moment.. he would need more of an advantage than the field, should he be forced to resort to Pastel. Hmm.. he should go with the poison type's strength, status effects, "Impasto, use Poison Jab!"
Impasto nodded, {Very well! Have at thee Tybolt!} He bared his fangs and launched forward, endeavoring to inject the deadly venom into the canine's veins.

Raina nodded in acceptance as the trainer issued his first command, it came as no surprise to her that he would be going for status effects, that was the poison type strength after all. Just as the Arbok lunged forward to strike she called out to Branimir "Dodge it and retaliate with Mud-slap!".
Branimir watched his opponent warily not wanting to get caught by it's deadly fangs and so as soon as the snake tensed he was already preparing to jump backwards out of striking range, Raina's command reached his ears in the same instant and he obeyed without hesitation. Landing just a few inches from where the snake closed it's jaws he thanked Mew that he had avoided the poisonous fangs, at least for now, before using his paw to send some of the road, and more importantly the moist dirt beneath it, sailing towards the snake.

Impasto reared back from the mudslap, perhaps a little more than was absolutely necessary... He turned back to his opponent, {How dare you insult me in such a manner, nave! If I had a thumb I would bite it at you!}
Lumin recognized the dramatic poses.. he was doing his Romeo and Juliet impression again.. that was one of his favorites. Lumin grinned slightly, alright.. it might help Impasto's moral if he helped him along.. let's see.. Mercutio was Impasto's favorite character in it, "Mercutio, you must retaliate, fight with the venom in your words and fangs!"
Impasto was surprised for a moment, then smiled, flicking his tongue. Lumin had guessed and was playing along. This would be amusing, {Have at thee, Tybolt!} He launched himself again in another Poison Jab

Raina eyed the snake with distaste, not that didn't like snakes... she just didn't like large, venomous snakes, especially not one that was trying to sink it's fangs into her beloved Branimir. Upon seeing the snake lunge her stomach plummetted to her feet. The fangs sunk into Branimir's leg and she just knew that a lot of poison was being injected as the snake gnawed on her arcanine's foreleg. "Branimir try to shake it off and use flamethrower!" she called, hoping that Branimir would be able to withstand the effects of the poison.
A sharp stabbing sensation followed by an agonizing burning alerted Branimir to the fact he had not been fast enough to avoid the snake this time. Growling in pain and fury the large dog began shaking his leg trying to dislodge his opponent before he finally just grasped his opponent in his jaws and pulled, then tossed him away. The urge to lick at the wounds was strong but Raina's voice reminded him what was important right now. Turning his gaze on the snake he snarled, fangs glistening under the stadium lights before he unleashed a large stream of flames.

Impasto dodged the fire, "Thou doest need to make thy aim more true!"
Lumin nodded.. but.. couldn't come up with anything special for his next attack, "Impasto, use Earthquake." When his Pokemon glared at him, he just glared back, "Just do it, alright? I can't come up with a Romeo and Juliet reference for Earthquake."
Impasto turned his nose up at his trainer, fine, but he didn't have to like it.. and he didn't have to admit that he couldn't come up with anything himself. He slammed his tail on the ground, shaking the field, pieces of one of the buildings falling down.

Raina frowned and bit her lip against the unladylike remarks that were threatening to come out when Branimir missed his mark yet again. After getting herself under control she managed to release just a bit of frustration "Oh come on? Really? Branimir doesn't have bad aim, what is with you kamis today?" she muttered quietly while thinking of how to retaliate when suddenly the whole stadium shook and she had to work hard to keep her balance.
After she recovered she looked up to see that Branimir was rising to his paws again, shaking himself to remove the debris from his fur. Things were not going well at the moment and she knew she had to find a way to turn it around. "Branimir, use Flamethrower one more time and lets make it count!" she called.
Branimir growled angrily as he was brought to the ground by the shaking caused by the Arbok's attack. Rising to his paws he shook off the bits of road and garbage that were sticking to his fur and his eyes narrowed while he snarled menacingly. "For some reason the kamis believe you are worthy of their favor, however, I will still find a way to overcome you." he bit out.
Once he heard Raina's command he crouched down, opened his mouth and unleashed another stream of flames, these ones were glowing blue in some spots signalling the arcanine's growing frustration.

Impasto cocked his head at the comment about the Kamis, {Really? What are-} He flattened himself, just as a stream of flames flew over him, scorching his scales along his back, {No! You blackened my scales!!! You cretin! Now what are the ladies going to think? If this doesn't come out, you will suffer my eternal retribution!!!} He slammed his whole body on the ground, shaking it, and shattering one of the false windows in the formerly respectable building.
Lumin was a little shocked as he saw Impasto rear up, "WAIT! I didn't say-" And the stadium shook again, curse that overdramatic snake!

Branimir smirked when his attack finally made contact with the enemy, things seemed to be looking up, now if only he could find a way to do some real damage to that stange, overly dramatic serpent. As he was busy pondering about just how to do this he felt the ground shake again but he was better prepared this time and he stayed on his paws. Narrowing his eyes at the snake he growled "Is that all you know how to do? Don't you know any better attacks?"
Raina grumbled as the stadium shook again and she struggled to keep her balance as one of the windows shattered. Seeing this as her next chance she called out "Branimir, use mud-slap!" not the most extravagant attack but it would do for now.
Upon hearing the command from Raina Branimir swiped a large paw at the ground, digging in and sending chunks of road, garbage, broken glass and even some of the dirt beneath the road flying at his opponent. If he thought his scorched scales were unattractive just wait till the ladies smelled him after this.

Impasto was infuriated, {YOU WILL PAY FOR-} A small rock clunked him in the back of the head, not enough to hurt, just to get his attention. He turned to find a fuming Lumin. He blinked, had he ever seen Lumin upset like this? Yes.. when Pastel had eaten his last pencil.. and it hadn't turned out well... Crap.
Lumin's eye twitched, "YOU WASTED OUR TURN!!! That's just a mark, and now it's just a mark and a smell. We'll get you cleaned up later, but right now, keep your head in the game! You're lucky that you happened to use the move I was going to get you to do anyway, or those cosmetic problems would be so far down on your list of problems that you would need a telescope to see them! As it is, you're still in trouble. Now, Poison Jab!"
Impasto turned around and cleared his throat, {Um.. sorry about that.. tempers have no place on a friendly match... as it is... that sounds kind of hollow right before I-" He lunged, fangs dripping venom.
