Cat was finishing off his lunch as he waited for his newest pupil to arrive, smiling up at the ceiling and the handiwork that hung from it. Finally those hyperactive wings of his proved good for something. About two dozen various shiny objects were hanging from yarn that was affixed to the ceiling, shaking slightly in the wind from the open window. They ranged from watches to even one semi-precious necklace, all glimmering beautifully.
For about the ninth time that day, Cat gave himself a mental pat on the back for his lesson idea. Teaching at this... place had certainly pushed the boundaries of his creativity, but he felt he was getting the hang of it. After all, his new pupil was part Greed. Nothing would be more motivating than shiny things. He took another bite of salad. Perfect.

Why was his mother suddenly being so interested in forcing him to participate in the classes that were offered at the facility all of a sudden? Well, whatever the reason it only improved his bad mood. Finally arriving at the designated classroom, -why were all his classes inside anyways?-, Cody opened the door and stepped inside. "Woah!" he gasped, staring at all the objects hanging from the ceiling. There were so many... So many things he could steal now that his wings were stronger and able to hold his weight easier.
"I thought this was some sort of spiritual class... What's with the stuff?" he asked, glancing at his teacher. The whole reasoning behind the objects left him baffled. It wasn't a class involving skills, so what exactly was the teacher going to teach him?

Cat smiled happily at his student’s reaction, proud that he had done such a good job in capturing his interest so quickly. Very good, well, manipulation of the spawn’s DNA, if he may say so himself.
Standing up with a last bite of salad, he grinned at his pupil. ”Oh, it is a spirituality class. Don’t worry about that, Cody. It’s just… different. You see, I had a dream about you a few nights ago, and it told me that you have a very nifty kind of magic.” He gestured up at the yarn and strings and ropes that held up the shining objects as he explained. ”If you flap your wings just so, and of course with a good amount of concentration, you can manipulate the air currents that you make. Say, make it sharp and use it to cut these things down from their strings.”
Cat grinned at the spawn, still trying not to look too pleased with himself. ”So, this class will be kind of like a game. You’ll practice your magic, and whatever you can successfully cut down, you can keep. Sound like a plan?”

And captured his attention Cat did. The spawn's eyes never left the objects on the ceiling, running through a list of possibilities on how he would be able to grab all of them without getting caught AND getting home with his treasure. Despite this, Cody was well aware of what his teacher was saying and found himself anxious to start.
"So, you're saying I have to control the wind to make into some sort of blade and cut the objects I want down, right?" Sounded easy enough anyways, and would save him the trouble of stealing all the objects and evading any techs he met on his way outside.
"Sounds fun, but, I have one question; how exactly am I to do said thing?" he asked, giving Cat a devilish grin. Needless to say, the spawn wasn't going to walk away from the class without most of the loot in his possession even if it took him several hours to do so.

"Yup, that's what I am saying," Cat said with yet another smile, tail swishing. Good; the shining objects hadn't stopped Cody from listening. He had been a little worried about that when he set this entire display up, but it looked like he had no reason to fret. Five minutes in, and this class was already going along swimmingly.
"Well, like this," the Eilian said simply, standing up a little straighter. Using his own wings as a demonstration, he flapped them in unison, hard, sending a strong gust of wind across the room that made the objects from the ceiling jingle as they moved. "Now of course, when you do it, the air will be much more concentrated, and ideally will go only the way you want instead of all over the place," he said with a small chuckle. "But that will only be achieved with focus, and the right timing." He paused, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe we should practice first..."
Looking around his classroom, Cat smiled and stepped over to a tall plant (heaven knows why he had it). "Alright then, Cody. Practice on this here plant. Just use your wings to move the air, then try and use your mind to concentrate it into a condensed form. If you do it right, it'll get sharp on its own." That being said, he took a few steps away from the target. Not that he didn't have faith in his pupil; he just wanted to be out of harm's way if something went wrong.

Cody blinked. It seemed a bit simpler than he had anticipated, but whatever. Concentrating on the air around him, the spawn spread his wings and flapped. Ignoring the sudden weightless feeling, the spawn focused on making the sudden gust of wind have a similar shape and feel as a knife.
Like magic, a nice sized section of the plant was sliced off and blown across the room. The boy merely stood there in surprise, staring at the plant. "Woah... " he muttered, taking a step forward to examine what was left of the poor thing. Like a blade, the wind had sliced clean through the varying stems and leaves with apparent ease.
That would make getting into Ary's room soooo much easier. A wicked looking grin crept across his face as Cody turned to look at Cat once more as he waited for his approval or possible tips before letting the spawn have at it with the trinkets above their heads.

Cat blinked in surprise, impressed by Cody's already-firm grasp on his magical ability. Stepping over, he inspected the plant, nodding in approval and smiling at his student. That smile weakened a little when he noticed the evil glint in Cody's eye, but he let it slide. It wasn't his job to teach the kid morals; he was just there to expose and hone their magical talents. Or was he? Ah, he could debate morals with himself later; right now he needed to teach.
"Awesome job, Cody! I see that you already got this. You're totally ready for the ceiling stuff. I mean, there's always room for improvement, but for the first time, that was brilliant!" The Eilian gestured at the objects dangling in wait. "Feel free to aim for whatever you like, but try to only cut down one at a time. It'll help your control."

One at a time?! That would take forever! Not to mention exhaust him both mentally and physically. It took a lot of concentration to focus his magic and remain on the ground. Cody just sighed and glanced over the ceiling objects, instantly finding the necklace hidden amongst the other items.
If there was one thing he wanted out of the whole room, it had to be that. It didn't quite light up the whole room as some of his things did, but it definitely had the biggest glow out of the other objects. Moving around a bit, circling the dangling object Cody finally stopped a foot or so away from it. He had to focus... Closing his eyes tightly and flapping his wings once, the spawn focused on the wind created like he had before. This time, he was aiming at an angle so it hit the center of the string. Whether it worked or not, well, he wasn't quite sure until he opened his eyes or heard the soft c***k as it hit the floor.

Cat watched carefully as his pupil set his aim for the necklace, not surprised that he had singled out the most expensive object in the room. Leaning against his desk, he watched Cody's form closely, eyes quickly following the current of air as it whistled across the room and successfully cut down the jewelry. He smiled widely as it landed with a loud CLUNK! on the floor, gesturing towards it. "Well done, Cody. Go ahead; it's yours."
"Now," he said, with a glance at his watch, "we have about half an hour left and... one, two, five... fifteen things left for you to get. Do you think that you can get them all before the class is over?" he asked with a grin.

Cody merely nodded, scanning the various items that hung from the ceiling. Fifteen items in a half hour. That meant he could only spend a maximum of two minutes on each if he wanted to get them all. And to assure him that nothing of importance was missed, he'd go down the line of most valuable to least valuable.
"Yes, I'm sure I can," he replied simply, quickly finding the second most valuable item and positioning himself by it. Flapping his wings, he focused on the air and sliced through the string. Patience, he had to be patient and not rush, lest he missed the ones he wanted and only walked away with a portion of the treasure.
Within the next five minutes or so, Cody located and sliced down two more objects and was preparing himself for the next one. He missed on his first shot and scowled, shifting a bit for his next one. Why was magic so difficult anyways?

To be honest, Cat had quite a nice time watching his student cut down treasure from the ceiling, especially given his overall success. The hippogriff and cleared out a small space on his desk and was sitting on it cross-legged, chomping quietly on the remains of his salad as he watched Cody's progress. He hoped the child didn't take offense; if anything, it was a sign of how good he was doing that Cat seemed so relaxed. He didn't feel like he had to constantly be monitoring him.
Despite himself, the Eilian couldn't help grinning when the spawn missed the fourth item he tried for. He had deliberately hung the semi-precious ring near an open window, hoping that the crosswind would prove a bit more challenging for the spawn. Swallowing quickly, he gestured with his spork as he talked. "Try again, Cody. Don't forget to compensate for anything interfering with your wind." Another quick munching of lettuce. "Like other breezes, for instance."
Cat checked his watch as the hybrid continued with his training. Twenty-three minutes left; the boy certainly worked well under time pressure.

Cody blinked and glanced at his teacher in confusion. Like breezes? What was he-Oh! The open window! Why the hell didn't he notice that before? Was he really that unobservant? With a soft sigh, the pre-teen shifted a bit and thought for a moment on how to compensate for the irritating wind that didn't involve shutting the window.
What about using it like he used the wind created from his wings? Wasn't that what Aenira did sometimes? Taking a deep breath and concentrating on the wind coming from both the window and his wings as he flapped, the patience spawn managed to cut the string. And add a nice sized slice in the ceiling where his overpowered wind-blade-thing smashed into. Greeeeaaaat.
"Ah... Sorry," he muttered, shuffling embarrassedly to his next object, taking a couple seconds to choose which one to go after. Already he had eliminated all the really good ones and was down to the smaller, less expensive ones that were all muddled together for him.

Cat smiled to himself as he watched his student think, although he certainly hadn't expected him to combine the two sources of wind. While creative, and definitely productive, he had to wince at the gash that now ran across his ceiling. Still, he smiled a little tensely and shook his head, tail flicking. "No worries. Nothing a little duct tape can't fix." Okay, so the problem was a little more complicated than that, but Cat didn't want his student to feel responsible. He was just learning.
His wings flapped a little antsily as Cat watched Cody study the ceiling, and pointed towards a brooch hanging in the far corner. "If you want my input, try that one. Let's see if you can hit a target from a distance."

Cody just stared at Cat for a moment at his comment about the brooch. It hadn’t been his first choice, but he was the teacher... “Kay,” was all the response he got as the pink-haired pre-teen set upon aiming for the object from roughly where he stood. After a moment of thinking and aiming, his wings beat the air hard and send the blade of air at the string only for it to fall short. Silently cursing, he tried again but this time flapping his wings a little harder so as to send it that few extra inches and sever the string.
As the wind and string connected, the brooch fell to the ground with a soft c***k. “Got it,” he muttered, then setting forth to find the next object to go after. Hm, choices, choices...

Cat's face lit up as Cody corrected himself without needed to be instructed when it came to the distance shots. The boy certainly learned quickly, which pleased the Eilian greatly. Even if they had only known each other for the better part of an hour, Cat was extremely proud of the boy's success. He clapped when the brooch fell to the ground, tail flicked back and forth.
The remainder of the half-hour passed in pretty much the same pattern, with Cody slicing and Cat encouraging. Soon enough, the time was up, and the Eilian hopped off his desk and walked over to Cody, giving him a pat on the back. "Well, you certainly have the hang of this, Cody. You made short work of my display. Now, how many things did you get?" While he had been so preoccupied watching the boy's technique, he had lost count of the things that had been successfully claimed. No matter; he trusted the Greed boy to know intimately.
