Update: 11/28/09: With just one week left, I have decided that an art contest is the way to go for a contest. If you haven't been active in the guild or participated in the party, yet, there's still time. Don't forget to be here a week from now.
In less than two short weeks, the guild's third anniversary will be upon us. So how long have you been here? Were you a Lovely from one of it's first two years? Were you a Minion that came over from that guild? Was it simply Matasoga's Disciples when you arrived? Or are you an OSI member or GCI member who is still considering where their first post will be made? Whatever the case stop in and tell us how long you've been here, what you like about the guild, and any favorite memories you may have that were made here.

I'll be stopping in with my thoughts later, but I think that this just might call for a contest or a giveaway. Is anyone interested in running one? I'll be willing to chip in financially for something.

According to my "how I met Josh" post I met you back in Nov 07. So it's been almost exactly 2 years. I was a lovely when I originally joined this Guild and then it converted. The thing I remember most was discussing the war in Iraq with him and how we were going to fail simply because we started a war we had no business being in and we didn't understand the mindset of the three factions. It was a good discussion.
Josh: I'd be willing to help, I've never run a contest/giveaway before.

You always brought something interesting, intelligent, and often political to the guild with you and it was always much appreciated. As for the contest, I think I'd be willing to put 10 K towards an art contest. I need judges, statements of interest, and any other feedback any of you may have as to what type of contest you'd like to see.

Wow, back in the day, huh? It's certainly been a while...
Well, I have known Josh for many years outside of the land of Gaia but I first joined his online gathering when the Minions first came into existence. I had known about his guild of Lovelies, of course, but there was honestly no way I was ever going to be labeled a 'Lovely', heh. Sorry but being just another face in a gaggle of fangirls was just not my way of breaking into the Gaia community. Actually, I think I would have rather choked on a dead ferret than have ever been that kind of girl. (Not to mention the fact that my avatar is a male and since it was an almost exclusively female organization, I think even Josh agreed that it just wouldn't work.) My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think that was the long and short of it.
Aaaanyhow... I've never been one to post very often, but I think my favorite discussions that I've had here (in both the Minions and the Disciples, actually) were our debates about vampires. I enjoyed them very much, as we all know how Josh feels about that particular brand of the undead, hehheh.

Aha wow three years congratulations x3 I could only hope my hangout thread long ago in the CB would make one year (didn't but made 25k in posts in the span of three days).
Now I'm not a terribly big poster, in fact I'm a lurker I rather watch then post because I feel no need to give my opinion when three or four posters share different views of what I think -shrug-
but I will admit this guild has given me a bit of amusement. I might make it a plan to keep myself active but I find its rather hard. Mmmm.
@Josh: Well if your holding any contests I can be a judge if need be -nod-

I enjoyed them very much, as we all know how Josh feels about that particular brand of the undead, hehheh. Yeah, I remember those days. This place always was my sanctuary from the hive of idiocy that Gaia had become. I admit, those long years ago that the guild was made for the purpose of ego-support. That concept was prevalent throughout the first year but I think it largely deteriorated during the second year. It gave it's last gasp at the end of the second year and I changed the name and brought in The Minions. At this point it ceased to be a novelty group and a pillar of support and justification for my own ego. I was now thinking about what was best for the guild as a community. I have a lot of happy memories of when all of us in the guild where younger. A lot of familiar faces are gone, now and a lot of the relationships have really changed. I miss a lot of the things that were there in the old days, but my goals were different then than they are now. I know that I made the right decision. The time for the guild as it was then was largely over, anyway. In any cases, my memories of the early Lovelies guild are all bittersweet... Come to think of it, the guild hasn't made me feel beautiful in...Probably over a year, but that's alright. It's become more than that and bigger than that, now. In the end, I guess that I'd love to go back (more to the place I was in life three years ago than what the guild was three years ago) but I can't go back. Time marches on for us all, for better or worse. Shifting the focus back to the guild, I'm happy with what it's become, now. I worked hard to get it where it is, today and it's definitely much more sustainable, long-term. As for vampires, Alex, you were always one of the more intelligent voices of opposition. I was glad to have those talks with you. Thinking about where we were in life three years ago sure puts things into perspectve. What were the rest of you doing back then?

Wow... The third anniversary already? Holy crap... I remember coming in right around the second. There's been a few faces that were around when I'd started that never really come around anymore, even if they do still log in on occasion. I miss some of them.
I can't remember exactly what threads that Josh and I had been posting in, but I remember that it was, if I'm not mistaken, August '08 that I saw him posting in the ED. I read a few of his posts and I think responded to one or two of them, then sent him a PM. We talked there for a bit, I believe about how stupid some people have become and how Gaia was turning into a cesspool of such people and, before long, I was ranked among the Minions, and it's a decision that I've been thankful for since I got back to Gaia.
But man... Three years ago? Three years ago, I'd just lost my job with Wal-Mart and was just starting to get into Gaia. I'd joined a couple of years earlier, but never did much with it because I never found much reason. I was also starting to get into playing Guitar Hero, which quickly became one of my favorite games once I got the hang of it.
It's amazing as to how much people can change in three years, I think.

Even the ED had begun it's descent by then...Or perhaps the entropic effects were immediate and site-wide. It probably happened around it's membership hitting a certain number where the slope began. I remember how your account used to be Bloodborne Mule... Or something to that end. Was it only 08? I think I've known you for longer than that, but my sense of time was never great. I know what you mean. Three years really doesn't sound like much, but it sure has been a ride. So much has changed that it really puts things into perspective.
