Deucalion's workshop was running a little low on some components. He didn't have any serious projects going at the moments and was in sort of a lull work-wise, so he elected to take the opportunity to restock on his raw materials. Having made sure that all of his pockets few free of unnecessary trinkets and gizmos, the Selkirk headed out to comb the streets for pieces and parts that he could take and use, or even something that he found interesting. One could never know. He may be inspired by something and just run with it, creating something new and wonderful.
The tom headed out of his workshop and onto the street, glancing skyward to note the location of the sun. It was past noon and just barely working its way towards sunset. He'd wasn't worried about time and intended on being meticulous in his perusing.

He had been going about his business for a while now. At present, he was crouched down in an alley, behind a shop, prying the back off of a clock. He held a few wires between his lips already from a recent find. Deu's brows were knit low on his forehead as he concentrated on the task at hand, his tail swishing behind him slowly. Pausing for a moment, he pushed his glasses up his nose before continuing. His ears swiveled around to keep an ear out for anything out of place. Bright green eyes were intently focused on his actions. He may not look as if he were paying attention to the world around him, but looks could always be deceiving.

Kiss Kiss Fall in love
Yami looked around at her new surroundings. She had been in the states many days ago, and had hidden away on a boat after running away from her home of people. She had wandered off the boat when it reached Japan and had busied herself the last two days exploring the city. She liked this place so far, lost of fish, lots of dark places to hide her self in and enjoy. And Lots of things to find. She had already collected a few tiny treasures and was looking for more. She walked down an ally and saw a male tinkering with a clock. She stopped and smiled. She liked the dark fur and the red hair. And Glass's! Ohhh nice glass's! She smirked and walked over slowly. He smelled good too. Like oil from tinkering and a little like sweat. She smiled and sat next to him quietly as she curled her tail around herself and watched him. "Want some help hansom?" she asked with a smile as she looked up at him. She wasn't really a kit persay. She acted older and was about 15 by cat standards. She smiled and tilted her fluffy head happily waiting for his reply.

Deu finally managed to remove the backing of the clock and set down the plastic face plate the popped off with his wrestling. His ear turned slightly at the soft sound of approaching footsteps. They didn't sound as if the source of the steps were running at him or seemed overly threatening, so he just kept on working. Soon, he noticed another in his periphery. Deucalion blinked, turning his head when the girl addressed him with her interesting offer. His tail ceased its swaying to lie still against the ground. The tom smiled and dipped his head to her. Before speaking, he removed the wires from his mouth and slipped them into his breast pocket.
"Well, if you're offering, I'm willing to accept. Thank you. I'm Deucalion, by the way. Who might you be?" At his question, he looked over the top of his glasses to younger cat. He shifted himself to rest the clock on the knee closest to the collared cat.

Yami watched him as he talked and nodded. "Its nice to meet you Deucalion! I'm Yami. And how would you like help? What piece do you want out of this or can i find you something else? What do you want exactly cause i have some stuff hidden in the tunnel i've been sleeping in." she said as she looked around wondering what else she might find in the ally they currently were in. She curled her tail about her feet and looked at the trash cans around them and smiled as she saw some shiny stuff. She stood and jumped up into it and pulled out a fork, a wrist watch and a remote controle that was missing some rubber buttons. "Do these help at all?" she asked as she picked up a piece of food and ate it happily. She looked down at him from atop of the trash can and smiled at him as she dug for anything else useful.

"A pleasure to meet you, Yami. Well, every little bit helps. Out of here, I was seeing if the wires were in any usable condition and I could always use the gears. I'm gathering things that I could use for future projects. I'm getting low in some components in my workshop and since I'm in a bit of a lull right now, I figured I'd make an evening of it." Deucalion flicked an ear. "You're sleeping in a tunnel? What sort of stuff do you have hidden away?" The tom watched her hop up into the can and withdraw a few items. He smiled a bit of a lopsided smile, brushing a stray strand of his hair back from his face. "They do. I can definitely use them. Keep it up. There seems to be a bunch of stuff back here." He paused for a moment. "Tell me about yourself. What brings you to these parts?"

Yami smiled glad to help him out and looked for more in the trash she was in as she talked. "Well i'm from America but i snuck onto a boat and got here the other day. i like it alot so far though. Much better then where i was. My people were not very nice. With the long trip i took my hair grew back but they had hurt me often...kids kicked me then they set my tail on fire." she said swishing her tail to show where the hair was a little shorter. "And lets see at my tunnel i have a mirror. And a little robo dog thing. And something that plays music that i stole from a jogger, that was fun i jumped at him while he was running and he dropped it and ran! I laughed so hard as i took it home." she said with a giggle. "And ummm i have some more watches and a little clock too. I have a few dolls and some jewelry that i found too if you need that stuff." She said as she pushed out some more silverware and a fancy looking little hand held TV.

Deu's brows inched up his forehead slowly the more she told him of her past. When she finished, the tom gave a long, low whistle and offered her a smile. "An import, eh? Exotic..." He chuckled and rocked back to sit on the ground, leaning back comfortably, bracing himself up with one arm and the other resting on his knee. "Well, I'm glad that they didn't get you too bad and that you got out of there before something really bad happened." He paused and frowned at himself, brows knit low. "Not that having your tail set on fire isn't really bad...You're looking well for what you've gone through..." His fluffy tail thumped softly against the ground at the thought of someone trying to set him on fire. He knew that humans could be cruel but the idea of burning caused a shudder to race up his back, making his long curly fur stand on end a bit.
Deucalion shook his head and waved his hand as if to clear the thoughts from the air. Smiling again, he nodded as Yami listed off the treasures in her tunnel. "Wow. You've got quite a few useful trinkets. I'd love to have a look, if you wouldn't mind. There definitely sounds like there are things I can use." He looked over the hand held TV that she had pushed out after pocketing the silverware. The screen was in good condition and it didn't rattle when he shook it. It definitely had potential. Unbuttoning his vest part way, he slipped the small slim TV into an inside pocket before rebuttoning his pin striped vest, patting the place where the TV was tucked. "Yami, you have quite the eye for this sort of thing. I may have to take you around with me whenever I go out. Having an extra set of eyes is definitely proving to be more efficient time-wise and you're finding some really good stuff."

Yami smiled and carefully leaped over to another set of trash. "I like it and i'm glad that i'm not where i was. Japan seems to be alot nicer then the States. I was glad my tail healed as nicely as it did. I was very sad when my long hair wasn't there and i looked silly with a half naked tail..." She said looking through the trash before mewing loudly. "Oh look a large wire ball!" she said as she pulled a tangled up mess of wires out of the trash. One was so long that she was kinda stuck with it, trying to pull it loose but it wasn't working well. "Might need zome halp." she said around the wire in her teeth as she yanked and pulled at it. She growled mad that the thing wouldn't come out with her.

"Well good. Glad to hear that Japan has been treating you well." The tom angled his head and looked over her rich brown fluffy coat. "Yeah. I can see what you're getting at. At least it came back alright and not patchy or anything." He nodded and slipped a few other things in his various pockets. At her exclamation, his ears perked and he sat up a bit straighter. "I always use wire. Makes for neat little sculptures when I have a bit extra after a project."
Yami's request for help was quickly answered. Deucalion hopped up onto his feet and padded over to the garbage can, taking the wire ball in one arm and lifting Yami out with the other. He offered her a bit of a grin. "Let's head on over to your tunnel. That way we don't get overloaded with stuff. Once we're done, we can head towards the aquarium and the planetarium. There, I can show you my work shop." He nodded and set the Siberian down.

Yami smiled up at him as he lifted her out and giggled a little as he set her down. "Thanks. I'm glad i could help!" she said as she looked around trying not to think about the cute guy who had been holding her. "My place is just down a few blocks." she said with a smile as she jumped down softly ans swished her tail happily. "I like my little tunnel but it is in weird area." she said with a laugh as she thought about what he had said. "And its not that far from the Aquarium." she said now that she thought about it. "You live there?" she asked with a smile. "What about your self? Howd you get here and what kinda things do you make with this stuff?" She asked looking at all his neat pockets and things he had wondering what objects you make with the random things he had collected.

Deucalion absently set to untangling the mass of wires. He had gotten good at that sort of thing; having his hands doing one thing while devoting most of his attention elsewhere. "As am I," he chuckled, his tail swaying lazily behind him; the tip of which curled back and forth. "Ah, well then. By all means, lead the way." He gave a little half bow and swept his mostly empty hand outwards in a general 'Shall we go' sort of motion. When Yami asked after his living at the Aquarium, he smiled and nodded. "Yep. Well, technically in a part of the planetarium, but its all the same building complex."
At getting asked about his past, Deu tipped his head back slightly and hummed a reflective sound, mulling over his memories and deciding what to share. Looking down to her, he offered a small smile. "Well, I was born here. Not on the streets, but in a home. As a kitten I was purchased by a clock repair man for his niece who visited him regularly, but couldn't keep a pet in her family's place. He named me and she just called me Deu, for short." He smiled a bit. "Before I was six months old, her father's job got transferred to Germany and they were to go with him. Where they were moving didn't allow pets so I stayed with her uncle and became his pet and the resident store cat. I used to love watching him tinkering around and fixing older clocks. Not those digital ones, but the good old fashioned ones. He'd make them good as new." The tom sighed and looked to the slowly untangling ball of wires. "Everything was great for a while...At least some Yakuza punks wanted him to pay protection money." A low growl rumbled softly in his chest and his ears drew back. "He refused and tried to call the police. They shot him and set about to burn down the shop." He grew quiet and gazed distantly as he picked at one of the wires. "While the place started to go up, I went to him. He wasn't dead yet. He moved and groaned, but he was hurt. He couldn't get up. He tried to shoo me away, but I wanted him to try and move, to escape. I ran between him and the door, which those damned gangsters left open a bit. His workroom seemed to catch so fast. The smoke was dark and seemed to fill up the place so quick. Embers started to rain from the ceiling. He pulled me to him for a moment to pat out a couple that had landed on me. Giving me a peck to the forehead and a scratch between the ears he tossed me at the door, screaming at me to get out. I didn't know what else to do. So, I ran. I could hear the sirens. They were coming. Someone must have called...I didn't go too far. I wanted to see if they would pull him out. To save him. Oh, that place raged for what seemed like hours. I noticed that they had pulled him out, but when they set him down everyone seemed to be shaking their heads or trying to push back the spectators. He hadn't made it." Lifting his bright green gaze from the wires, he gave a ghost of a smile. "I sort of learned to take care of myself from there. I didn't settle anywhere in particular for the longest, but found a perfect space in the Aquarium."
He shook his head and cleared his throat, drawing his ear back this time in embarrassment. "Sorry. A bit much with the detail there. Ahem. Well, I make whatever I can dream up. With spare parts, I've made little sculptures of cats, birds, mice, all sorts of things. I have a little gear mouse that I can control by a remote. I built a trio of bug things that were meant to sort of watch my work shop in my absence, but they kinda got loose before I could finish with their programming. I found one, but two are still...somewhere. Sometimes I just set myself down to see what I can come up with." Deucalion grinned. "You'll have to see."

Yami listened to his long story and felt bad for him. She wasn't surprised that he didn't seem to like fire. Well that had how it had seemed when she mentioned her tail catching fire. She looked over him as she lead the way to her tunnel. "That sounds like a sad story i'm sorry that happened to you. I don't know whats happened to my family i had in the states, they probably don't miss me any ways though. I'd be happy to help you look for those bugs. It sounds interesting. I don't know much about things but i'm good at looking." she said with a smile as she looked around as they walked. "Were almost there. Just over the hill right next to that building." she said with a smile as she looked up at him and they walked. "It might be a little small for you but i'll just pull everything out if you want." she asked with a smile. She liked this male...His hair was nice and she liked his voice....She giggled to herself and hoped that she wouldn't make a fool of her self and get to spend alot of time around this pretty guy.

Deu looked from the bundle of wires that was gradually beginning to submit to his picking and unweaving to smile down to the Siberian. "Yeah, I suppose it can be seen that way. Thank you, Yami. I'm not sorry though. While terrible, it helped start me on the road to where I am today. If none of it had happened, I'd still be a shop cat, probably fat and content to watch my owner work or receive affection from those who come in to drop off or pickup their clocks and watches." He chuckled with a reflective sigh, at the mental image of himself being paunchy about the middle and napping in a ray of sunshine on the bamboo flooring, getting fed twice a day and having affection lavished on him by his own. After such a long time on the streets, that life seemed sort of silly.
"Their loss then." Deucalion smiled and dipped his head. "That would be most welcome. They're only about two to three inches long, so an extra set of eyes would be helpful. So, I am beginning to gather." The tom continued to work at the wires but paused to look where Yami indicated when she said that they were getting close. He gave a bit of a grin. "That'll be okay. I can sit outside and continue to tame this beast while you take out what you think would be of interest. You have a good eye and I'll trust your judgment."

Yami smiled happily feeling like she was doing something for him now. She was helping someone, and he seemed to want to have he around so she felt happy about that. She pranced around as she made her way to her little tunnel home. "I'm glad to help you! Your the first cat i've met who seems to want me around for an extended amount of time." she said with a smile as she looked up at him again and smiled. She walked down the little hill to her tunnel and walked into it and began pulling stuff out for him to look at what she had. "I think i want to keep the music thing though. Its nice to listen to when i sleep...though i think its going to die soon or something. Maybe you can help me make it better some how..." She said pulling out a purple iPod and looking at it as she poked some buttons on it and smiled at him. "What do you think?" she asked before turning and pulling out all the other things she had hidden away in her tunnel.

The tom followed after the collared cat, glancing between his hands and where she was leading. The bundle of wires were beginning to submit to his picking and the untangling was quickly becoming easier. As he walked, Deucalion paused his fiddling to look to Yami, with a bit of an astounded expression, shadowed with a bit of a grin, on his face. "Really? How long have you been here in Japan? I am really the first? Huh." Either the younger feline was really new into Japan or she had stayed close to her tunnel, Deu figured as to the fact that he was the first to want her around for any stretch of time. "Must've had dealings with territorial cats then," he pondered aloud before shaking his head when she entered her tunnel.
Deu sat down cross legged next to the entrance to her tunnel. "You are more than welcome to keep what you've found if you so choose. It wouldn't be my place to take something that wasn't mine by force. Improper." He blinked his eyes and his ears perked at the mention that something might be wrong. He smiled, his tail giving a flick. "Oh, I'd be delighted if you let me have a look. I'm sure I can do something to help you out with your music." When she presented the iPod and poked a few buttons, he angled his head to get a better look, pushing his glasses a bit further up his nose, which seemed to slide down almost as quickly. "Hm..." He mused, "It could well be in need of charging. If that's the case, my work shop has access to electricity, so we can try it there. If charging it doesn't work, I can open it up and see if anything looks as if it needs replacing or tweaking. It won't be a problem."
