Ili'ella had stopped beside one of the rivers, her paws dripped in the water to keep them cool. The heat of the midday sun was burning down on him, heating her fur to an almost uncomfortable level. She was humming as she padded her paws in the water, making small wave like movements. She was smiling down at the water, her reflection smiling back in it's own deformed way thanks to the water's ripples.
She moved easily into the river, allowing the water to wet her fur as she moved towards the other side. It didn't take her long, since it was only small. Stepping out, she carefully set herself down to clean off the water from her fur.
“Oh, where ever I go, where ever I am, I'll find you someday, I swear it, I can,” she sung as she got to her feet, her hips swaying to a beat only she could hear.

Feeling the sun more then ever on his dark coat, Azizi tried his hardest not to show his exhaustion. He couldn't stand sweating so much, but he kept his mouth shut and suppressed his breathing, for the sake of looks alone. It was just in his nature to always try to look amazing, even if it killed him.
His multi-colored eyes flicked around, scanning the horizon and the like for a distraction from the heat. A tree, or some source of water. Anything would be better then padding through the grass out in the open like this. If anything, he should be hidden away on hot days like this, which made the urge to find a home all the more pressing.
With his head held high, Azizi, quickened his pace, the faint scent of water filling his nose. It wiped away any other scent around, as his brain only focused on what he needed. He didn't notice the sounds echoeing through the air, or the soft scent of a female nearby.

Ili'ella shook the last of the water from her furr, making sure each piece was smoothed down pleasantly. She wasn't a vain creature, but her fur was her pride and joy. Her colours made her different and set her apart from the dull coloured creatures she had met. Moving back towards the water, she bent her head to drink from the water.
The tiny little drops which still clung to her fur, barely noticable to her eye, kept her cooler in the heat of the day. She raised her, licking her mouth clean before glancing down the river. Where would she go now? Usually, she would be curled up somewhere to avoid the heat, but the day was so sunny and bright, she found it hard to resist the urge to wander off somewhere.
As if to show her how beautiful the world was, she caught sight of a butterfly nearby, obviously enjoying the coolness and the grass around the river. Dropping low to the ground in a fit of playfulness, she stalked after the butterfly. It was a pretty yellow, similar to her coat. She had to catch it.
“Fly away, little butterfly, into the sun,” she sung, even as she crept closer. “Fly away, little one.”

Carefully creeping up on what looked to be a river, Azizi glanced around, regaining his thoughts. His body lowered to the ground gently, and he soon paralleled the water. He let his tail fall in, dipping the end of it in and flicking it across the rest of his overheated body. His chest was visibly heaving now, the sun glimmering off his black coat. Ah, the pain of being beautifully black.
His mind refocused, now that he wasn't burning in the sun, and he re-assessed his situation. He had forgotten to check for dangers or threats upon entering the vecinity, and a cool rush shot up his spine as he carefully looked around. The rush wasn't out of fear, more out of his killer instinct. He remembered all too well the last time something tried to take him in a fight. He ended up having to clean his paws for weeks of the stench of blood.
His muscles laxed as he saw next to nothing, though his eyes lingered on a brightly colored ball of fluff that moved after a butterfly across the river from him. He didn't feel threatened, as something that neon just didn't seem frightening. But he watched, nonetheless, for a long while before making any decision about enteracting with the lovely creature.

Continuing to hum her melody, though it grew softer and softer the closer she crept to the butterfly, Ili'ella narrowed her eyes. The butterfly flew enticingly in front of her and she let her fangs show. Her muscles tensing as she clenched her claws in the dirt. As the butterfly slowed to a stop on a blade of grass, she launched herself forward.
Tumbling over the grass, her paws slapped together, catching the butterfly between them as she flopped on the ground. Wriggling, she flopped on her side, peering into paws to see if she could find the butterfly. Her eyes lit up when she spotted the softly flutterly bug, still alive as she cupped her paws on the ground, making a cave so it wasn't crushed. “Hello little one,” she said in a sing song tone.
Without hesitating, she pulled her paws back, and watched as it quickly flew away. She hadn't intended to kill it or eat it, it was just meant to be for fun. Staying lying on the ground, she glanced at the retreating bug. “Goodbye, my darling. I'll see you again one day.” She rolled back and pushed herself onto her feet.

It was quite fascinating, watching the two brightly colored creatures mingle playfully. It was like a show to Azizi, and his bi-colored eyes watched intently. He had already forgotten that he was at the side of a river, and it was only after her felt the light n** of a fish at his still toes that he realized where he was again.
Taking in a breath, Azizi lifted himself from the ground, thoroughly shaking off any trace of dirt that might have lingered from his lounging. He was no longer burning, but in fact felt quite cool. He gently slinked down the bank, trotting through the shallow water over towards the other side. It was high time he made an appearance.
"Bonjour ma cher." His accent was heavy, and the words slipped from his mouth smoothly. It took him a few moments to realize that he hadn't spoken in a way she could understand; he grew up with the language, and sometimes forgot that no one else did. "Er, hello." His eyes focused on the yellow lioness as he stepped up on the other side of the river.

Ili'ella watched her butterfly disappear, slightly sad to see it go but glad it got out of their encounter unscathed. She would have hated for it to be hurt because of her playfulness, but that was the way of life. Humming as she cleaned her paws, removing the traces of any dirt that might be clinging to them from the minor scuffle, she didn't notice the approaching male until he spoke.
Glancing up at the foreign words, her eyes lighing up at the beauitufl sounding words. She didn't understand what he was saying, but she wanted to know now. Glancing at him, his dark furr and the flash of colours of his markings. “You look like a butterfly!” she said brightly, after he greeted her. “Hello mister butterfly.” She moved closer to him, her eyes on his markings. “What were those words you spoke earlier? They were like a song no one understands.”

His brow eased, and Azizi let a kind smile cross his face. "I was simply saying hello, madmoiselle." Azizi dipped his head briefly, his eyes never leaving the brightly colored female's. "A butterfly?" As far as compliments go, Azizi had never really heard this one. He wasn't even quite sure what the word meant right at that moment, either. "I do not understand." He shook his head back and forth, his eyes lowering in a saddened look. He didn't quite enjoy the language barrier between him and other creatures, but it was something he knew he'd have to learn to live with.
"I am glad you like my words." He gently tapped the lioness on the chin with the tip of his tail, his mellow mood returning to him. "It is my native tongue." His ears twitched as he thought about first learning that another language even existed outside his own. It was a strange day, that one.

Ili'ella perked up when she noticed the smile cross his face, it changed the way he looked. “I have never heard anyone say hello like that,” she replied, honestly. “Yes, a butterfly. Despite the dullness of your coat, you have beautiful markings. You remind me a butterfly. Subtly beautiful.” Her eyes lit up as she once more took in his appearance. She did pity him for his coat being so dull but the markings made up for it. Frowning a little as she noticed his sad look. “What's wrong, Mister Butterfly? I did not mean to make you sad! Forgive me?”
She smiled as his tail nudged her chin, making her want to laugh and chase after it, but she knew better then to chase someone elses tail, especially if she actually managed to catch it. “Your native tongue?” She sounded surprised. “What do you mean, native tongue?” She had never heard that saying before. How could you have a native tongue, does that mean you could have an unnative tongue too. As far as Ili'ella knew, she only had one tongue. The butterfly had become suddenly confusing.

"Nevermind, ma cher." Azizi flicked his eyes past her, forgetting his own lack of knowledge of this strange 'butterfly' she spoke of. If it was something he truly needed to know, he'd find out eventually, especially if he apparently looked like one.
"I merely mean that it is what I grew up speaking." Azizi honestly didn't know what was confusing about his words. Maybe she had a lack of knowledge like he did? It surely was possible. "It has been very.....difficult adjusting to this language." His nose twitched slightly, and he almost felt homesick. Almost.

“Oh,” Ili'ella said, her eyes widening. “You grew up speaking a different language? That would have been hard. Do you have others that speak your langauge here?” She was curious. She had only ever spoken in english and her own made up langauge she had as a child. She sat down, obviously intending to be there for a while. She was entranced now. She had never heard of anyone else who had spoken another language before. “What does ma cher mean?” She asked, suddenly remembering the word he had spoken early. She picked up the pronounciation with a fumbling ease, though her accent was poor.

"I quite love the language, madmoiselle. And yes, from when I was a small cub." He flexed his toes in the dirt, extending his claws out of boredom. "I'm afraid that out here, there is no one else. Just in my homeland, I suppose." The home that he spoke of was a territory that his family had been in control of for generations. They ruled the land, and others came to live by their way as well, and the society was very prim and proper. Maybe it was the same thing everywhere he looked that prompted Azizi to leave it.
"Ma cher is my dear." The word 'dear' came out quick and slurred; that was the main reason why he never used the English phrase. 'Ma cher' was just so much more.....simple. "It is only proper that a male address a female as such." Even if it wasn't endearing, the phrase had become almost a required thing in his speech.

“You're all alone?” Ili'ella questioned, sounding faintly horrorified at the notion. To speak some langauge and then not be able to speak to anyone in the language was a sad thought. “Don't you miss speaking your native tongue, if you have no one else to converse with in it?” It must be lonely, she decided to herself, to speak such poetry but for no one to understand it.
She looked pleased with the meaning of 'Ma cher', though she knew it wasn't because of any fondness he had for her, it was simply a polite way to address a woman, but it was still a nice address. “Ma cher,” she repeated to herself, almost under her breath, her accent getting worse the second time she said it. “What is the polite way to address a male?” She asked, curious now. If he was going to address her properly, it was only polite to return the favour!

Azizi smiled down at the bright lioness; he was quite happy to see her interest in his language. It was the one thing he held onto from his past, the rest of the lifestyle floating away as Azizi lost interest in it. He kept the traditions locked up in the back of his mind for the day he knew he'd go back and face his parents. There was a part of him that knew it was futile to try and totally rip away from that place, but he'd stay as far away from it as he could for as long as he could.
"Politely?" Azizi flicked his eyes towards the sky, thinking of what she meant. "You could say Monsieur, but that would be more for talking to someone like my father." He laughed, not wanting to linger on the subject of his father for too long. "But I suppose, for someone like myself, you could use jeunne homme. It is, how do you say....young man?" His tail flicked, and Azizi wondered if he had said everything right. Translations always made things hard and scattered out.
