Where was the b*****d?
Malice had sent Toku hunting earlier since today was an important day. Her children were coming back to the den to visit them. Malice usually cared very little about anything but today was important. She wanted her children to have a nice visit, since she didn't seem them often now that they were all grown and independent. She was rushing around making all of the leftover bones tidy and she supposed if any of her siblings could see her this way they would have definitely burst out laughing. Dammit, what had having children done to her?
She was starting to get impatient when everything was finally organized and less gruesome looking. She wanted food to be present just as it always was when her little ones were growing up. Malice knew that her children wouldn't have complained if Toku had little success, but she was the mother and her own parents always provided for her. Her own transition to adulthood never stopped them from giving her a meal every now and then. It was what family was. Ever since her father's passing she was starting to cherish the time she had with them more and more.
"Toku, hurry the hell up!" She wasn't really yelling at anything at this point, but rather just yelling for the sake to make herself feel better.

Toku was busy. Simply put, as foals the kids ate a lot, as adults surely they would need more no? So he hunted, and hunted, and hunted some more. Deer fled in panic, but it was no use as necks were snapped and large bucks dropped easily to be gathered near his hunting spot. It took time though, he would only select the finest to target, to make the hunt somewhat fun, and to ensure his family was fed well.
With four large buck, all in the peek of life ripe with fresh good meat Toku began the work of hauling the kills back to the family's grounds. Mouth full of buck he said nothing as Malice called out, only responding once he was clearly insight dropping the first buck onto the ground. "I am going as quickly as I need to. I won't feed my family pathetic scraps." He snorted slightly turning to retrieve the next buck, again depositing beside the first glancing about for sign of his children.
Instead he caught sight of the bones, gathered up in a simple little pile, the sight causing him to let out a chuckle. He made no comment though going back two more times to gather the rest of the meal three one each for the children, and one to share between himself and Malice.
He stopped his work finally glancing up at the sky stomping slightly at the dirt below his hooves. "Their late. Growing up hasn't seemed to change that about them at all."

She would privately admit to herself that yes, she was excited. How long had it been since she'd seen her mother and father? When she wasn't staking out territory or harassing the hell out of Kosomot... well, when wasn't she staking out territory or harassing the hell out of Kos? Tossing her head with amusement, the small mare pumped her wings hard to get some altitude, keeping a careful eye on the ground below. She wasn't so scatterbrained as to forget her family den, but she didn't want to soar right over it while she was daydreaming!
Besides, after Grandfather had died...
...Well, this was supposed to be a happy time. She wouldn't think about it. Back winging gracefully into a landing, the Kalona delicately picked her way through the woods until she emerged into the clearing, a sharp-toothed grin pulling at her face. She couldn't stop the way her heart squeezed a little, seeing her beautiful mother and powerful father again.
"Well, you two look like you haven't aged one bit!"

Well thank goodness Toku had brought in some serious meal for all of them. And it was fresh and just caught! He had done good, per usual. She could only nod approvingly at him and wink at the end of her heartfelt thanks. He was very good to her even if she'd die before ever admitting that openly.
Before she could comment to him further on their arrival times, her face zipped forward at the sight of her lovely daughter. Oh, she really had her grandmother's good looks! "Theia! So nice of you to arrive first." Malice, at the sight of her daughter, most definitely felt even older then before. Her kids were now at their prime ages of life. She remembered when she was off and exploring the world, and could only smile at the thought of it all for them.
"Come, eat!" Who knew if her children would even come hungry, but it was typical Malice. She was always fearful that they weren't eating enough. "Oh Toku. Thank goodness she got her good genes from me." She laughed towards the both of them and was expecting Toku to enjoy that comment very well.
Fachtna hadn't been far from the overall situation. He could hear his mother's complete voice and he also spotted his sister arriving at the scene. He supposed it would be appropriate to make an entrance at his mother's hilarious statement. Should he defend his father's honor? Since he was the only son, he supposed that would be appropriate of him. Oh should he be good, or bad? He hated thinking this much about such silly and trivial things.
As he entered the den he could only add, "Yes father, mom's genes really did a fantastic job at making me so very red." He grinned at all three of them before instantly looking at all of the dead deer before his eyes. "Well, I'm glad I came hungry." He was always such a socialite.

He simply grinned at his mate, he knew she appreciated his work for her, even if she wouldn't say it. He would always tease her about it, saying he never got any 'proper respect' sending his mate into a series of rolling eyes, and snapping at his him with her teeth. Good times indeed they were... well except for Rot, but Toku crushed that thought down to the depths of his mind ignoring the mixed emotions that the dead elder brought up.
Instead he walked over to his daughter nuzzling her neck gently before stepping back with a wide grin, he was older, but compliments about how he looked always helped give his ego a bit of a boost. "You look bigger then last time I saw you. I assume your doing well?"
He flicked his ears towards his mate turning to arch an eyebrow slightly. "Please, she only grew so strong from mine obviously," he let out a chuckle turning now to his son who had arrived to join them, "Good to see you as well, late as usual, but good to see you Fachtna. Now where in the hell is Mace?"
"Aye I'm right here! Don't tell me your going blind now!" Sure enough Mace had approached from the other end of the clearing while everyone was distracted talking, at once she headed towards her mother offering a nuzzle of affection for her, she didn't say anything, word had not long ago reached her about Rot, and what could she say? Her grandfather was the head of all the males and it surely must have crushed Malice's heart to hear, what could she possibly say to that?
Her greeting to her mother done she bowed her head at Toku in turn before joining her siblings near the meal stretching her wings out and kicking the ground. "S'good to see everyone again."
