The sun sat low and full on the horizon. this sky was streaked with pinks and purples and yellows. This was Rishy's favorite time of the day. everything was so quite and peaceful, it gave her a time to just sit and relax while she watched the sunset. as the sun left the sky Rishy noted the moon rising to greet the night. dark settled into the land, and fear settled into Rishy's heart. for her the night was a time of blindness. not the physical blindness, she could see in the dark just fine, but more of a blindness of actions and emotions. something about the darkness of night filled her heart with darkness.
Rishy shook her head dispelling all thoughts of fear and darkness. she was determined to make tonight different. tonight she was going to try and stay in control. Rishy walked to the edge of the clearing she was in. the forest looked dark and foreboding, but also held the promise of safty and protection. she slipped silently between the trees, her paws making no sound as she moved about, and her black coat offering camouflage in the shadows.

The filly was playing by herself, chasing the fireflies in a small clearing in the middle of the darkening woods. The moon was beginning its arc across the sky and more and more fireflies were blinking to life. She ran here and there, chasing the lights but never catching any of them. It didn't matter. The purpose of the game was just to interact with the mysterious creatures.
The filly was fully confident as night began to take its hold. Her family was mostly nocturnal, preferring the shadows to the blinding light of day. The dark filly had no problems hiding, and should problems arise she could shrink down and fly away. She had too much difficulty flying in her large form, but when she sizes down it's much easier and she can typically get away.
Still, she preferred her hooves as her mode of transportation. There was something strengthening about being connected to the ground. She continued her game blindly, not giving thought to what may be lurking in the darkness.

Rishy lurked through the forest silently. she tried hard to fight the dark haze that lingered along the edge of her vision. something ahead caught her eyes. it looked like there might be a clearing ahead, but was it glowing? Rishy dropped into the hunters crouch, all of her senses on high alert. she could the sound of hoofs and smelled what had to be soquili, but it was a different smell. interested she crept forward slowly intill she was at the clearings edge.
from under two bushes she peered out and saw the source of the glow. little fireflies dances in the darkness, illuminating the clearing. it took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the soft light, but once they did she saw the owner of the smell. it was a dark foal, female, and she was chasing the fireflies. something stirred inside of Rishy. the complete bliss of the foal to her presence made Rishy's heart pump. her muscles tensed and her mouth opened already tasting her next prey. all thoughts slipped from rishy's mind as the hunter in her took control. with a loud growl she sprung from her hiding place into the clearing, her deadly claws aimed at the unprotected foal's throat.

Nita was enjoying her game, dancing with the fireflies. Her laughter filled the small clearing, and only too late did she hear the growl. She instinctively darted to the side, narrowly escaping the claws of the creature leaping at her. Nita got a nasty gash in side for her efforts, but she didn't stop the think about it. She took off into the woods, desperately trying to get a way. She chanced a glance at her attacker, but had no idea what manner of creature it was. The young filly darted around trees, trying to get away. "Why are you doing this?" she cried. She weaved in and out of the trees, trying to think of a way out. She didn't want to get eaten!
The creature seemed but a foal itself, why did it want to eat her? Nita hoped she was faster than it at least.

Rishy landed gracefully and turned to see were the foal had gone. she saw it just as it dashed into the trees. she herd its pleading voice which momentarily cleared her head from the darkness, but then the smell of blood filled the air. Rishy looked at her paws to see that one of them had made contact with the foal. she raised the paw to her mouth and licked the blood from her claws. the smell intoxicated her. the taste plunged her into complete darkness were all hope of rational thinking was lost. the lust for more called to her.
in one swift movement she was after the sent. she could see the foal a good distance ahead of her, but most noticeable was the blood on its side. it stood out to her as if all the colors drained from the world except for the wound on her preys side. strong legs pushed her forwards, but the foal was smaller and more nimble making it hard for Rishy to get close enough for another strike. she laughed as she thought of the foal's pleading question. she shouted after it, "why you ask? i just cant help it. you smell so good!"
