only in a few districts in cali but from my point of view it would be safer if it was legal so the government could make sure it is safe and high quality pot plus the tax they could put on it would help us solve some of the budget deficit...kill two birds with one stone

True but the reason why pot was prohibited in the first place because it was selling as well as tobacco. Tobacco growers didn't want pot to deminish the the tobacco industry.

McCull96 but people said that about tobacco but you don't see people committing robberies for tobacco. These little knights... Because it's not the tobacco they're addicted to. It's the nicotine. And from what I've seen, nicotine cravings are not as bad. From what I've gathered from my Mom and several other people I know who smoke, it's just a daily thing like having to use the bathroom. And nicotine in cigarettes is destroying lives too, through cancers and diseases people get from smoking it, just like pot. Yes, cigarettes and cigars cause the affects to happen earlier and pot happens MUCH later, but damage is still being done. ...will rock your world

These little knights... Oh, another thought that came to my mind that was said from a comedian who's name I cannot remember.
You know why the drugs aren't being legalized? People say it would boost America's economy, but they're wrong. The "good" stuff isn't made in America. It's made in the other countries, where crime and law are so out of balance drug lords are practically mayors, governors, Hell, I'm willing to bet one was a president. Anyway, my point is, the "good" drugs are made on foreign soil and those are the ones people will buy. So America ends up losing even MORE money is drugs are legalized. So if one tries to make an argument that pot, or any other substance, can help get our economy back up, please take this post and this argument into consideration. ...will rock your world

I disagree quite strongly with alot of what is being said. Pot is not bad for you, and is less addictive than cigarrettes. Pot cannot kill you, pot cannot take away your life. UNLESS, that is, you have an addictive life style. I have multiple friends who smoke it, and ALL of them are going to college. One of them even has a 33 on the ACT and a 3.8 GPA. Only one of them is a theif, though he doesn't steal for pot money. He steals from Wal-Mart because he hates Wal-Mart. And he doesn't do that anymore, but he still smokes pot about once a week. Pot was illegalized because someone made it look bad, about like cigarettes (except cigarettes didn't get illegalized). At the time it was illegalized, it was good for the economy to illegalize it. I think it should be legallized with alcohol and cigarettes, or alcohol and cigarettes should be made illegal with pot. But wait, they tried illegalizing alcohol. All that created was a bunch of dead bodies at the front step of the white house. So they repealed it. Pot is not bad for society at all. Trust me. I'm around it everyday, and I've never even smoked it. As far as helping the economy, I am unsure of how it could, though I could see the government monopolizing it, which would help stimulate the economy a bit. More than just handing people money ever could anyway, so what have they got to lose?

Not only is my friend's step brother tearing her family apart, but I'm watching that girl from band go down hill. There are other factors contributing, but pot is a large one. Her parents disowned her because they busted her with it and she refused to stop, even after they punished her properly. She's currently living with her grandparents, going through the exact same thing again. And she seems to think she's the queen bee of everything, showing up to class high almost every other day. And when she gets in trouble because she's not doing her share in playing the music (because she's high as a kite) she throws a hissy fit.
So I'm just having trouble believing pot is good. If I could, I'd have alcohol and cigarettes made illegal too. The alcohol is currently ruining my own family, and I'd rather not have to avoid my own Mom and brother when they step outside because I don't want to breathe second hand smoke.
And pot does cause health problems. There is too much for my to copy and paste, so I leave you with a link. http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/effects.-Lya.htm ...will rock your world

Ten off the top of my head. From the sound of it, these people of whom you speak have a character problem, not a drug problem. Out of the ten people that I know, only one is a problem in society, and it is a character issue, very little of which having to do with pot. Pot is part of my everyday life, and the life of many of my friends. I have a free ride to college, and I'm considered a genious. All of my friends afore mentioned are going to college, one is even going for pharmacy. Don't get me wrong, however. I'm not arguing that pot is GOOD, I'm just arguing that it is no worse than cigarettes or alcohol. I actually believe it's better than the two, but it's still something that puts you "Under the Influence". As far as health is concerned, pot only puts any defect on the user that's inhaling smoke constantly would intale. As far as messing with your mind, it does not unless you are actually under the influence of THC. I have difficulty believing otherwise. I've seen people smoke it for 20 years with no ill-effects. Not to mention, my mother smoked it about once a week while she was pregnant with me (As well as about half a pack per day of cigarettes), and I'm one of the smartest, healthiest people I know. I agree with you here, however. All three should be illegal. I agree with this 100%. However, this can never happen. It would cause many deaths, as it did when we tried illegalizing it in the past. So I believe that, if alcohol and cigarettes must be legal, so must pot. Pot doesn't kill, pot doesn't hamper, pot is barely a drug. The people who let it rule their lives simply have a character problem, thus would be the way they are reguardless of whether or not pot exists.
