Eckhardt had spent his morning chasing after a young rabbit. Once the rabbit saw that the colt meant to harm, it decided to show off it's speed skills and play around with the young dragon. Eckhardt dashed left and right to try and catch up to the creature bit the rabbit had quite the advantage. The colt realized it needed to train harder so that one day it could be as fast as the rabbit was! Until then he was ok with being beaten at this moment in time. He would have to call for a rematch when the time came and when he could be stronger!

When Eckhardt was too exhausted to continue on with his new friend, he said farewell to the cute creature and found some tall grass to fall into. The colt rolled onto his back and watched the sky as his lungs took in some much needed air. Siggggh indeed!

Today was a very lovely day and the clouds were molded into all sorts of shapes and sizes. He tried hard to guess at what some of them looked like and could only giggle when one of them looked like his fiery brother. He had never appreciated the sky this much when he lived in the dark forest. Now it was truly a pleasure to be sitting under it so much!

Rishy lay basking in the sun of the morning. the warm rays felt great against her long black fur. she stood as her stomach grumbled, for it had been a while since she had last eaten. the familiar scent of rabbit drifted to her nose, and from a distance she could see the owner of the mouth watering smell. Rishy dropped to the ground using the long grass to hide in. the rabbit was slowing down as if it had just been running from something. perfect. Rishy sprung forwards missing the rabbit by an inch. it dashed away the way it came, but Rishy was hot on its heels. hunting came second nature to her. the sound of the rabbits scared heart filled her ears, and its fear scent filled her nose making her mouth water. every step brought her closer to her prey. another odd scent mixed with the rabbits, and from the corner of her eye she saw a flash of red on the ground. the rabbit seemed to be heading towards the red. Rishy laughed, nothing could save it now that she was on the hunt. Rishy never lost her prey.

Eckhardt was at first completely distracted at the scene near him. He had no idea both creatures were racing towards him in such circumstances! When he finally picked up the other filly's scent, he bounced up from the ground only to see the rabbit frantically coming towards him. He then noticed the black filly chasing behind with a hungry expression on it's face. Oh my gosh, what was going on here? It didn't look like the same kind of chasing he was doing before!

When the rabbit was much closer, Eckhardt planted his hooves tightly on the ground and arched his eyes. He may have been a peaceful lover to the world, but his father had taught him many skills when he was stuck with him. Red Bull found fighting to be the most important task that each of his sons could learn. Eckhardt didn't like the arts of attack or defense very much, but he had a friend in trouble!

"Please stop chasing that rabbit!" He finally yelled, while shaking his head angerly. "He is my friend and I would prefer that you leave it alone." If not.. things could get complicated.

Rishy stopped dead in her tracks. she had not expected the red blur to be another foal and the sudden movement and sound surprised her quite a bit. she regained her senses and frantically looked for the rabbit, but her shock had given it just enough time to find safety. a scowl formed on her face as she turned to the foal that had defended the rabbit.

"look what you've gone and done! i was just about to catch it, but you had to go and yell at me. now what am i supposed to have for breakfast?"

the adrenaline from the chase was still pumping through her veins and was helping to fuel her anger towards the red foal. her stomach growled once again, adding to the anger at her loss. Rishy never lost her prey.

The colt took a deep breath of relief in when he realized the rabbit had escaped to safety. But it now looked like he had a serious problem to deal with! This was the first filly he had ever met in his life. And wow, was she interesting looking! He wondered if he should be frightened of her scary attitude. Maybe he could help her find something else to eat? Or maybe she'd want to eat him...

"I understand that you must eat, but that rabbit was a pal of mine. I'd be heartless to let him go.." the colt gulped a bit and realized this was the first conversation he'd had in so long. He was confident enough to speak to her though. Even if she might have been dangerous, Eckhardt was totally thankful to be interacting with someone! Hopefully the filly would be patient with him as he tried to help her back.

"Let's go find you something else to eat. It is the least I can do for interrupting your morning." he lowered his ears a bit shamefully and knew his father would have scolded him for getting involved in someone else's life. "Are rabbits the only thing you like to eat?" he prayed not.

once again this red foal surprised Rishy. he was offering her help? he was apologizing to her! she could not decide wether to be appalled and disgusted at his weakness, or to still be angry. her stomach growled loudly, protesting the lack of food. she relaxed and smiled at the foal. if he was offering help, she might as well take it. she found his liking towards the rabbit rather amusing though.

"sure all right, lets find something to eat. though im still not ready to forgive you just yet, my stomach is empty and i will need to fill it before night time or like you said...things could get complicated."

she smirked at the foal looking him up and down. he sure was an interesting looking thing. his spike reminded her of a porcupine and the long horns and tail like that of a kalona, but surely if he was one he would have tried to fight her by now right?

"im most partial to rabbits for their strong hinds make for good eating, but if you insist against it then im open to anything right now. do you eat meat?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 21, 2009 10:33 pm

Eckhardt felt many memories of his father drift into his mind when the filly asked him about meat eating. Man it had been awhile, hadn't it? "My parents used to insist I eat meant everyday, saying that it would help me grow big and strong. I actually enjoy and prefer the taste, but.." he sighed lightly and looked at the filly with light eyes. "I'm not a very good hunter." There, he had said it. His parents had always gotten him the food! So how was he supposed to learn how to catch something himself?

"Why don't we walk towards the forest over there." He pointed his nose towards the left knowing exactly what they'd find when they would enter the trees. "There are tons of berries at that edge when you first walk in, and if you are still hungry we can find you other options." Like meat he supposed. He had to admit, until he interrupted the filly she was very good at chasing that rabbit down. She obviously had some skill to her hunting trade and definitely didn't go hungry. Maybe he could learn a thing or two from her?

"Oh, I'm Eckhardt by the way." he introduced himself rather clumsily as they made their way towards the forest. "What happens to be your name?" He'd have to get better at the communicating thing eventually!

Rishy almost gagged at the thought of eating berries, but she wanted to see if Eckhardt was serious. she was starting to doubt the whole kalona thought she had had a while ago. he was nothing like the normal dragon like breed. but wasent she herself different from her breed? she had been a foal in hell when she was summoned here so she did not have the years of hate built up that most pure SW had. she shamefully thought of what a normal Sw would have done once the meal was lost. she should have just attacked Eckhardt, but for some reason she didnt.

"its obvious that you cant hunt by the mere suggestion that we eat berries, but sure why not. im open to trying them. oh, and you can call me Rishy." saying her own name felt weird. it had been a while since she had the opportunity to introduce herself. Rishy walked next to Eck, but kept a good amount of space between them. she had seen other soquilis touch before, but the notion seemed weird to her.

"so what are you supposed to be? you look kalona but you hardly act it. i mean you cant hunt and your display of weakness towards the rabbit make it hard for me to decide if Kalona is what you really are."

It was sort of refreshing to hear that the filly was confused about his appearance. He was happy because that meant he could choose to be anything he wanted. At this point he really had no idea what he was or what he could become. Maybe he just wanted to be his own unique creature!

"My mother is a dragon and my father is a big scary mutant. I have no Kalona in me, but I think I am technically supposed to be scary like my dad." He chuckled lightly and shrugged in response. "I dunno, my mom is really calm and intelligent so maybe I take after her? I am hoping that I have lots of time to figure what the heck I should be." Heh, it was probably strange to admit that, but Eckhardt didn't care. Rishy seemed interested to learn about him.

"What about you? You are awfully cool looking yourself! I've never seen paws like that. I bet it makes climbing things really really easy!" He admired Rishy's attributes and realized she was just as unique as he was. "And I am sure I can hunt once I get the hang of it. I just couldn't eat that specific rabbit. It had spent the morning playing with me when I was lonely. So if I ate it, that would make me really mean you know?" He looked at his fellow-traveler and wondered if she agreed with him. "How do you know which animals to eat then? Maybe I should stop talking to so many..."

for some reason Eckhardt totally made sense. she could relate to him not knowing what he wanted to be. she herself was the odd one out in her species and knew what it felt like to not know what one was. she felt a pang of jealousy towards him though. she had no parents to compare herself to. she was created in hell, and thats all she knew.

"ha, its good to hear that there is someone out there as lost as me. these nifty paws of mine are actually the mark of a Pure Skinwalker. well, im technically a catwalker, but you get the point. i was created in hell were i was supposed to learn how to hate and kill, but i think they pulled me out too early. obviously im not the typical 'kill everything alive' SW. not to mention im..."

Rishy trailed off, not wanting to finish the sentence. she was about to say that she was deathly afraid of cats, so she is not able to change into her true form, but something told her that this was not good information to be handing out freely. she felt like it was the kinda thing were if she told ya shed have to kill ya. not to mention she was embarrassed to be afraid of such a lowly creature.

"...well im supposed to be a big killer and shed blood everywhere i go, but to me it seems like a waist of time right now. actually im not sure whats wrong with me."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 22, 2009 10:26 am

Eckhardt couldn't believe it. Rishy was a Skinwalker?! That was what her father was always teaching him to avoid! But for some reason the colt wasn't afraid at all. Why should he judge Rishy? She hadn't judged him for being open and honest about his breeds. Rishy was also opening up to him about how she felt, and her feelings towards it all were awfully similar to his own. They were quite alike in their life prospects.

"There is nothing wrong with you!" he finally blurted but in a strong and confident voice. "Being an individual could never mean something is wrong with you. I think it is amazing that you are thinking about things and deciding what you like best." Hey, that's exactly what he was doing! "We are young for a reason. We have time to grow up and see how the world should work for us. But never think there is anything wrong with you. Be thankful you have such a open mind." Obviously Rishy wasn't interested in just killing everything. If that was the case she wouldn't be as intelligent as she was.

His speech was interrupted when he realized they had made it to the forest. Just as he had expected, there were all sorts of plants with blue and red berries sprouting left and right. "Oh, we have made it! Just so you know, the red ones are super sweet and the blue ones are kind of sour but also tasty." He wondered if she had ever tried berries before? "If you don't like them we can always look for other options. But maybe it will help your hunger for a little bit?"

He supposed she probably wanted blood for her meal, and if that was the case he would help her. He knew that nature existed for a reason and that some creatures were to be sacrificed for the sake of others.

Rishy looked at the berries with distaste. she knew it was unfair to say that she did not like them with out even tasting them, so she gingerly picked off a blue berry and chewed it slowly. to her surprise, they weren't that bad! something about its sour flavor spiked her interest. she turned to Eck and smiled.

"well what do you know, they are pretty ok. nothing compared to filling meat, but its something." she turned and ate some more blue berries, ignoring the red for now. "i see your point Eckhardt, about being young, but have you ever feared growing up? have you ever went to sleep and woken the next day with a trail of blood and death around you and have to idea how it got there, but you know it was your fault?" she stopped eating and looked at him. "i feel like there are two parts of me. one of control were i can think and then act upon my thoughts, and one of blind action were nothing matters except for what victim will fall under my claws next."

she turned away in shame. for some reason confessing to Eck had been easy, but she feared what he would think of her now. what if she lost it right here in front of him? she had almost lost it while chasing the rabbit. the smell of its fear driving her into a killing frenzy, and Eck would have been right in her path.

He was just as surprised to see that she enjoyed the berries. Rather then eating the blue ones himself, he made his way towards the red bushes and dug in happily. He had to admit, he was pretty hungry as well. The berries were a refreshing change to the grass he ate yesterday.

He stopped eating when he heard the filly speaking very deeply again. She had much bigger issues then he could imagine, and he suddenly felt sort of sorry for her. He was blessed to have his two parents even if his father was scary and mean sometimes. Rishy on the other hand was all alone to deal with things on her own. "That would be very hard to deal with indeed." He walked up to the filly and patted her gently with his wing. "If you think about it though, there are many creatures who would never admit to having problems controlling themselves. You are stronger then most because you are realizing what is really going on. I have no doubts that you will be able to control yourself. Don't be afraid to grow, because as you grow you will only get stronger and more stable! I think all adults become more stable with time. I hope to as well one day."

Eckhardt was no expert but he was a boy of faith. He loved believing in others and he felt confident that Rishy could pull through these personal problems. She was a strong female and soon she would become even stronger mentally. "I wish there was a way I could help you." he then admitted, while lowering his eyes to his hooves. "But I hope you do realize that you will get through this. Your will for being good is strong! Never forget that."

Rishy looked at Eckhardt with a very serious face. "thankyou, i needed to hear that. no one ever talks to me about these things. mostly its just angry comments about my species. there need to be more people like you. you are special in that you do not judge me for what i am, but rather who i am. i will remember you for a very long time Eckhardt, for you have shown to me that it is ok to be good even though i was raised in hate."

Rishy nodded her thanks, and wished she could show just how truly thankful she was, but no thoughts on how came to her. maybe one day she would be able to return the kindness that she had shown to her. she would remember what he had taught her today. Rishy was bound to find control.
