It had been a full week of survival and Eckhardt was feeling great. He was already so used to being quiet and silent that traveling on his own was very easy and manageable. In truth the act other's speaking was just astounding to him. Just the other day he had been wandering in some fields where he watched all sorts of families laughing and playing together. Was that what normal families did as a past time? It seemed sort of strange but wonderful at the same time! He hoped he could try that some day.
He was also starting to realize how loud nature was. All of the animals were busy croaking and chirping throughout the daytime and during the night he'd hear the sweet lullabies of owls. He never realized how wild the land was. He was having such a great time exploring and adventuring that he kept himself optimistic for great things in the future.
He had spent the morning running so when he came across a stream he stopped thankfully to nab some water. It was so fresh and crisp that his little wings batted in delight. As water dripped from his mouth he started to wonder how long the stream ran for. He supposed he could follow it, since he had no actual destination in mind. He walked step by step and looking for fish and frogs along the creek's edge. He liked to constantly create simple games to keep his mind flourished and preoccupied so that the days were never too boring for him.

The young filly was used to being nocturnal. Her parents both preferred the shadows to the sunlight, but she was particularly restless this morning. She rose quietly, so as not to disturb her sleeping family and wandered off in the direction of the stream. She figured a drink might help her sleep, or at the least she'll find something to do. As she made her way through the trees she became aware of something moving down by the river. Curious, she edged closer and stopped just out of the creature's sight. She was amazed at what she saw! He was so... bright! And he looked like he was playing a game!
She decided to follow him for a while, seeing how long she could remain undetected. It became a goal of her own and she set off on her task. She stayed with the trees, keeping to the shadows. She tried to step as lightly as possible, and would stop and hold her breath if he stopped for something. Soon, however the trees thinned and the young filly had nowhere to hide. She stayed in the shadows and watched as he proceeded along the river, but she wasn't ready for him to go yet! "Where are you going!" she called out suddenly, surprising herself. She immediately ran back the way she had come, afraid she'd made a mistake.

Eckahart jumped when he heard what sounded like a girl's voice. With quick reflexes he swiveled his body away from the stream to see absolutely nothing behind him. How was that possible? He was sure he had heard somebody speak! He wasn't going crazy, was he? That would be a problem indeed. The only thing he could do at this point was communicate back, so he took a few steps forward and tried to look in between the trees. Hm, still nothing behind him... he knew he should have payed more attention to his surroundings like his father always said.
"Is someone there? I could have sworn I heard you." Great, now he was doubting himself, too? That would also be a problem. He was hopeful though that someone was actually there. He hadn't been able to communicate with anyone or anything since leaving his family. "I don't bite." he then added, while wondering if his appearance was frightening. "I am just curious to why you are still hiding." He was starting to realize that he was STILL talking to nothing. With a light sigh, he turned his body back towards the stream but kept his ears attentive for any chance of the creature coming towards him. He was always a hopeful creature.

Her run had slowed almost immediately. What was she doing? She wasn't afraid of the colt, just unsure of what to do. Maybe he was mean? Maybe he wasn't alone? She was walking now, thinking about the possibilities. She'd been following him a while and had seen no one. There'd be no reason for the foal's parents to hide while traveling, so Nita figured he must be alone.
She had stopped in her tracks the moment she heard him answer. She'd begun moving slowly back, not making a noise. He almost sounded pleading, desperate for companionship almost as much as she. She reached the edge of the trees again and looked at him from the shadows. His back was to her, but she could tell he was alert. Was this a trick of some kind? She took a step out into the light, exposing herself. "Where are you going?", she repeated. She couldn't hide her curiosity as she looked at him. She hadn't been around many foals in the area. Her family kept to themselves pretty much, and even though she knew a couple of foals she would like to have more friends to call upon. "I won't run away," she added.

Oh, it was another foal! He was completely surprised and glad he had asked her to come back! She looked as nice as her voice sounded, that's why it'd be silly for her to run away from him. It was always pleasant to meet someone new. Or at least that was his philosophy! One could never meet too many new friends. And maybe this filly would want him to be her friend? He could only try and hope for the best.
"I wasn't really going anywhere, just following this stream." He lowered his eyes to the water and then glanced back towards the filly. "I was making up a game- and it involved following the pathway. I don't mind stopping it though." Also since.. he wasn't finding very many frogs in the water. He had been very unsuccessful thus far. He'd have much more fun with someone new in front of him. "I'm Eckhardt!" he finally blurted, while puffing his shoulders happily. "What is your name? And where were you going?" He was interested in asking her the same question back. Maybe she actually had somewhere she needed to be? If that was the case he didn't want to stop her for too long. He was enjoying watching her wings. How cool they were!
