Aura hummed happily as she pulled against the few remaining weeds that had weaseled their way into her garden. Even though there wasn't much of a garden left with the cold weather, she still didn't like the look of the bare weeds peeking out. "Oh come on!" With a huff the female cervitaur pulled against the stem and laughed as her hooves slid in the dirt. "This must be a true toughie." She muttered before one last tug freed the roots from the loose dirt.
The last gone. With a small smile Aura dusted her hands off on her dirt streaked pelt. The Autumn wind whipped at her pastel scarf lifting the fringes up towards her face. With a sneeze Aura pushed the ends back in place around her neck.
"Winter is already coming again." A sad look that was full of memories crossed her face before she shook her head. No time to think about that. Aura's hands rubbed against each other as she picked the weeds up and moved them towards the forest.
Crossing the path Aura walked away from the little home shared with her family and disappeared into the forest.

The weather was becoming colder, but it wasn't too cold that one couldn't travel. Winter was coming, but it wasn't here yet. Wind whipped around and mussed up blue hair.
It had been three days since Edward had last seen anyone. This was becoming ridiculous! There was word of something of a town in this direction, and he didn't recall turning direction at all....
Suddenly, stirring him from his thoughts was a soft sound of a girl humming. At least, that's what Edward thought he was hearing. For all he knew he was hearing the sounds of another because he wanted to hear something. The trees in the forest stopped advancing as he paused in step.
"Hello?" His soft yet sturdy called out.

Aura dumped the weeds before pausing. Was there someone else out here? Odd. Unless it was a friend or family...but she didn't recognize the voice. "Umm...hello?" Her soft steps moved her around the trees until she spotted another cervitaur.
Her clear eyes noted the spear but that didn't worry her. "Are you lost, sir?" Aura stepped away from the trees until she stood in front of Edward. Definitely a stranger. Still, Aura couldn't help but to cross her arms warily. Her cousin wouldn't be happy with her if she found out that she had talked to a perfect stranger in the middle of the forest.
Not like she'll find out. Aura noted silently before smiling again. "Not that you have to be lost to be here." She added with a soft laugh, "I've just never seen you before."

As the voice neared and a person became visible, Edward smiled. "Why hello there. And no, don't worry about it, you've actually got it down perfectly."
Her fur was a lovely shade of a pink-purple mesh, that was a colour he had rarely seen before. He quickly noticed her eyes glance at his spear and he moved his back to rest behind his frame, still held to the ground.
"I am completely and utterly lost, which isn't a good thing in a forest or in this state of near-winter we're in." He paused a beat, "Do you live around here?" Suddenly his eyes widened and he shook his head in defense in advance, "Not that I meant to ask where you lived, just that if you lived around here, then others would as well. You see, I don't mean to impose on anyone but I am in dire need of a proper place to rest."
Way to go Edward, introduce yourself as a completely stalker. He sighed in defeat of his own words before smiling softly at Aura, "My name is Edward."

Aura grinned behind her hand as she listened to Edward. "No, no it's okay." She replied dropping her hands to her sides. So he was a lost cervitaur. Aura frowned, too bad that no one really lived nearby...well there was that tavern but that was quite a bit away from the forest.
"Well, Edward I do live around here." She smiled but paused with a sigh, "Except I do have to admit that in this part of the forest, there's not too many neighbors. Though there are some." Aura looked around thoughtfully. Several of her friends had moved to be with mates or had taken to town, like Flora with her tavern. The healer lived with her foxtaur mate and she didn't know where the children had moved to...then there was Fiore. Aura bit her lip thoughtfully. Her cousin Miyuki had gone north and her brother Arian was off courting that lovely female...
"A place to rest?" Aura grinned, "It seems you have a bad timing for getting lost, Edward." The fall breeze, bitter and cold with the promise of winter brushed by again as a reminder. She really couldn't leave him to wander around like this...and her home was rather empty lately.
"But my family is out on travels. So if you would want, I have an open room."

The corner of Edwards lips curved up in a smile as she spoke of his unfortunate timing, "Don't I know it! I've been trying to find a new place to settle down for two seasons. Most spots have been temporary, but I'll always be grateful for them all the same."
As he spoke, he nodded his head in a solid fluid motion. He would never forget the kind ones who had let him into their homes. He of course had repaid them any way that he could, be it hunting, protection, or simply watching over young ones while the elders were out.
As the girl proceeded to offer her own home to him, he refrained from raising a brow. This young girl, offering a room, kind deed as it were, after saying that the rest of her family was gone. That didn't seem very safe. He knew that he wasn't going to do anything, but how did she?
"I hate to intrude, but as long as your offer stands I might have to take you up on it." He paused a beat, "Of course, it might be nice to get your name first, if that's alright with you?" His smile from before had grown to a full grin, in a humorous and almost teasing tone.
"And don't hesitate to throw me out if you feel it necessary. I will not overstay my welcome."

"Oh." Aura frowned slightly as she glanced over at the cervitaur. What prevented him from finding a new place? She paused suddenly remembering her own trip to a new home. They hadn't found it quickly either. "Ah, I know how that goes actually. I hope you can find a new place soon, Edward."
"It's no problem, really." Aura flashed a smile before blushing, "Ah! I'm sorry-" Embarrassment warmed her neck. How could she forget to introduce herself? "I'm Aura."
"Alright, I'll remember that." Aura smiled warmly before turning. "I guess we better get there before we freeze to death in this wind." Her scarf fluttered around her neck as she started through the woods to the mostly hidden path that led to her home.

"Aura," he spoke once, testing out the new name on his tongue. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He bowed his head ever-so-slightly in respect.
As he followed Aura through the woods he tried to keep track of the minimal path and where exactly they were going, for reference. "So," he started. "What is this place? I mean, is there a name for it, as a field, town, or something?" She had said that there weren't many others around, but that didn't mean that the place wouldn't have a name. This area was gorgeous, he wondered if the name matched it beauty, sans the cold.

"The pleasure is mine as well." Aura nodded slightly in return. Though her face flushed lightly the cervitaur shook her head. He was just being nice.
"Well you're in the forest now." Aura paused thoughtfully, "Though I haven't seen a real map in forever...I believe that this part of the forest is actually a part of what's called Nivae's Forest. The big town, Haven Tree is somewhat south of us."
Her hooves made soft sounds as she started up a rockier path that seemed a little smoother than the natural surroundings. "Watch your step, Edward." Aura looked back with an apologetic smile, "We've not fixed this part of the path in a bit and though it's not horrible, there are still some bad parts."
