Having found someone to give his daughter to for the day, Blake ran through the woods at top speed, a flash in the trees. Though Nina was a child now, the male was still getting used to having someone so small clinging to his legs as he walked, or calling because he was going to fast, or crying because she was hungry after eating only two hours before. It had been a while since he had been able to spare time for practice, and he was excited about the day. He carried with him a new set of knives, each for a different size of prey. He intended to break them in at a field he had found a while ago. One that was open and secluded, where he could set up targets of stumps or loose branches. Ah, a day of peace and quiet...

Arrows gleamed beautifully in the sunlight space as Raine sharpened the remaining few. "Perfect!" Her eyes sparkled with delight as she tossed the light arrow into the air, catching it triumphantly. Swan feathers mixed with goose feathers decorated her favorites and she was glad for the birds that had flown overhead that past night. She laughed remembering Riker's look when she had told him, "Forget the meat, they make lovely arrow feathers!"
Raine's tail wagged happily as she stood. An arrow was in her hand, ready to be flown. With precise movements the arrow was in place and soon the silver bow protested with its musical creak as she pulled back.
Closing her eyes briefly, Rain calmed her racing heart. Opening them she took aim and fired at one of the old trees at the forest's edge. The arrow went zipping through the air and right to the tree.
This was going to be a good day, she knew it.

Blake slowed as he neared the field, listening to his blood pump in his veins. Today, he could stop to enjoy the feeling instead of focusing on catching food and getting home. His enjoyment was cut short as a soft "twack" reached his ears. What was that? A bird hit a tree or something? Crouching low, he slunk closer to the sound and peeked around a tree. The face he saw was one he hadn't seen in some time, shooting off things he had only heard about before. She didn't look much different from when he had last seen her, and he easily remembered her name. "Raine?" He called out, stepping into the light, trying not to startle her.

"Hello." Raine waved absently as she walked around Blake to pull out the arrow. It had been a straight shot! Nothing wrong with that arrow...hopefully the rest would be the same. She really didn't want to have to make another set- Suddenly Raine's gaze whipped around as realization hit her.
"Oh, Oh!" Raine's gasp came out as she looked at Blake. "Blake!" Her voice was full of surprise, but warmth. He had grown. It was amazing how things changed so quickly. "I'm sorry!" She blushed sheepishly, "I didn't really realize that it was-"
Her hands tightened on the arrow as she laughed softly, "I tend to get distracted while 'playing' with my bow and arrows." The arrow dangled loosely from her hand as she reached up and tucked back a stray piece of hair.
"What brings you here?"

Well, at least he hadn't startled her. He scratched his head as she walked past him. He didn't think he was such an everyday entity to her. When Raine realized he was there, he couldn't help but laugh, his yellow eyes bright. "It's nice to know you think of me so often to not notice when I'm actually here." He said playfully, waving off her apology. "Actually, it looks like I'm here for the same reason as you." He hiked up his bag, pulling out a couple shining knives. "Brand new. Thought I'd work with them out here. Mind if I join you?" His eyes went to the arrows and bow. This was his first time seeing the weapon. It was... odd looking.

"Hey now." Replied Raine shaking a fist at him, "Now you know better than that." She laughed though before flicking at his nose playfully. "How could I forget such a polite kid?" Not like he was much of a kid anymore, but she wasn't going to admit that.
Her eyes went to the knives. "Practice?" Raine nodded as she trailed a careful finger over the blade. "Akemi would die for those." She murmured before nodding.
"Oh, of course! Feel free to do as you please." Raine grinned, "As long as it's not in my way that is~"

"Do I?" He asked, touching the nose that had just been flicked, his cheeks warming ever-so-slightly at her memory of him, though his tone remained playful. "I recall you being taller." He held his hand still as Raine touched the blades, putting them back into the bag when she pulled back, fighting to recall a face for the name murmured. "Akemi... The red female, right?" At her warning, he turned in a circle to survey the wide field, his smirk growing. "I don't know. This place might not be big enough for the two of us."

"Maybe I shrunk." Raine replied playfully with a faint tinge of a violet blush. She always had been smaller than most of the taurs she hung out with and even now Blake had out grown her height. She laughed lightly, "You weren't too big yourself last time."
"Yep, that's Akemi."
"I know right?" Raine's laugh was light and cheery, "Maybe I should just leave?" She paused dramatically as her grin showed off sharp canines, "Or like a pack should we fight it out?"

Blake looked down at himself with an exaggerated gasp. "Whaddya know. I did grow!" Personally, he thought he had grown rather nicely. He nodded, pleased he could remember names. He placed his hands on his waist, posing in a faux cocky fashion. "It might be best for you if you leave, but if you insist-" He grinned, pulling a blade out of his pack and throwing it at the tree with Raine's arrow, sticking it inches above the arrow; much to Blake's surprise. Throwing knives was not his forte since he was used to up close work. What had just happened was luck, and it showed on his face. "Neat." He breathed softly before realizing his mistake and straightening his back again, fighting a bashful grin. "I meant to do that."

"Eep!" Raine had ducked out of habit at seeing the flying knife. Well that brought bad memories. She remarked silently before grinning at Blake. She recognized the look on his face and realized what it must have been. Amusement welled up inside of her, but the wolftaur managed to appear slightly calm.
"For someone who meant to do that you seemed surprised." She murmured before finally laughing. "Nice though! That's some skill you have there, Blake." She winked as she touched her own weapon.
"Daggers and throwing knives are great weapons when mastered but..." Her bow raised and Raine let go of a new arrow with a smile. With a twirling motion the arrow flew right below the dagger. "I still prefer my arrows." She brushed her bangs back and looked over to Blake.
"Hey, didn't I say that I would teach you?" She flushed lightly, "Though I don't know if you would like my weapon of choice...but alas I'm not a knife master like Akemi."

Blake smirked slightly when his surprise was discovered. "It's... just for affect." Skill? Apparently, they both had it. "Actually, you did say you would show me how one day. I think it's about time I took you up on your offer." He said, carefully picking up an arrow and inspecting it, glancing at the two stuck in the tree under his knife.

"Good. I rather enjoy fulfilling my promises." Raine smirked as she held out her bow to Blake. "If you're gonna fire an arrow, you'll want this too."
With her free hand Raine pointed to a new tree that was close. "Try hitting that tree. Place the arrow on the string and keep hold of it's base while pulling back on the bow. Aim and let go to fire." Her warm voice was steady as she took up an instructor's role.
"Don't worry about being perfect, no one can fire a straight arrow first try." She added quickly, "I just want you to learn the feel of a bow itself."

Blake looked at the bow a moment before taking it. He tried to think back to if he had seen her use it back during the old hunt. If he had, he couldn't remember clearly enough. The base... He held up the bow, though horizontally instead of vertically, the string away from him. The he rested the bow on the string, though hesitated pulling back because it didn't seem right. Pulling back would slice that string, wouldn't it? He looked over at Raine in confusion. "I may remember your names, but I don't remember what you did with this..."

"Oh my." Raine laughed softly before moving right behind Blake. "I guess I moved too fast. Let's start by showing you how to hold the bow." Her arms wrapped around Blake's shoulders as she casually moved his arms to hold the bow vertically.
"Straight up and down is how you hold it." She whispered before tugging on his right arm, "I hope you're right handed." Raine frowned softly as she innocently leaned against him and pulled his elbow back.
"See how the bow goes straight like this allowing the arrow to fly? Oh!" Raine laughed lightly as she noticed something else, "You need to rest the arrowhead against the bow not its string." She commented flipping the arrow into its correct position.
"Sorry about that." She added quickly before backing up a step. Her hands motioned towards Blake's. "If you want I'll lead you through firing, but I'd have to be like a phantom guide."

Blake smiled bashfully. He had been doing it entirely the wrong way! "Sorry." He said with a chuckle. It was a good thing he hadn't pulled back. He couldn't help to feel a twing in his gut when Raine wrapped around him. She was an attractive female after all. He shook his head. She was also, in a sense, his teacher. Weird! With that thought pushed away, he focused on what she said, nodding as he understood. "Just pull back, right?" He did it slowly; first to make sure he was pulling correctly, and second to not elbow Raine in the gut.
