Adelle had only come out of the hospital a few days ago. After the shock had fallen away, she'd had the chance to learn how painful it was to lose a limb, or two, for that matter. She was on painkillers for it, but she wasn't allowed to take those herself given she didn't know how many to take at a time or when to take them. Unfortunately, she'd had a babysitter called in who'd completely flaked out, and now was home alone, the pain in the stubs of her ring and middle fingers growing with every passing moment. Her mom, who was in the middle of a job interview, wasn't answering her phone, so Adelle did the next best thing:
She called Vincent.
"H'llo?" she asked hesitantly when the phone was answered, still new at calling people who weren't her mother, wings flapping slowly and tentatively, making it obvious that she was afraid of getting hurt again. "Um, this is Adelle. I was wonderin' if I could talk to Ny- I mean, um, Vince-cent."

Joshua answered the phone. He blinked a couple times before a smirk made it's way to his face. "One moment," he said, holding the phone away from his face. "Vinny!" He called. "Phone! It's a girl!" He paused, before putting the phone back to his ear. He used his shoulder to hold it in place. "May I ask who's calling?"
Vincent ran down the stairs, two at a time, much like an over excited puppy. It wasn't a bad metaphor for him. "Ebony?" He asked, looking at Josh.
Joshua shook his head.
"'Zuba?" Vincent asked hopefully.
"You haven't given up on her yet?"
Vincent sighed and snatched the phone from his older brother. "Hey, Vinny speaking."

Adelle smiled happily when she heard Vincent's voice on the phone, wiggling a bit. Though not very well, she did remember him, a lot of it from the times that she'd seen him with Aludra or at Noah's house. But what she did remember was that he was a knight and she was the princess that he had to rescue~ So he had to be good, right?
"Hihi, Ny-ny!!" she squeaked sweetly, wings fluffing up in some strange way, smiling happily. "Um, this is Adelle. I was wonderin' if there was any way you could, um, come watch me for a bit 'cause my Mama's trying to get a new job since she got fired from her old one and my babysitter never showed up so I'm here all alone and my... hand hurts but I'm not allowed to know where my medication is 'cause I might take too much, so I need somebody here to come give it to me."
She paused finally after her single-breath statement. "...please?"

Vincent blinked. He'd never been called by a kid to be a babysitter before. Now he knew how Ebony must have felt when Josh had called her. "Sure, I'll come babysit," he said, with a nod, before realizing she couldn't see him. "Where do you live, Adelle? I'll have my mom drive me."
He didn't ask about payment or anything; he didn't need to be paid to watch over a friend's niece or whatever she was to Aludra. He held the phone away from his ear when he saw his mother walk out of the kitchen with a plate-load of cookies that were probably meant for the boys' father. "Mom! Do you think you can take me to Adelle's place? She needs a babysitter."
Thali merely nodded. "You get the directions to her house," she said, while silently wondering who Adelle was, and how she knew Vinny. She prided herself on knowing all of her childrens' friends. She didn't know this one.

Adelle bounced from where she was, excited for the first time in the past few days. "Thank you Vinny-ny!!" she said happily in response, swaying back and forth in her green flannel shirt, fidgeting a bit with the little doll on the desk, the one that she'd given to her mother a few days before. She gave the boy her address slowly, reading it awkwardly off the wall; she'd never really been good at reading.
"Alright, so, so, you're gon'na watch me then, right?" she asked with a soft smile, eyes on her bandages. She tucked the phone between her chin and shoulder, fiddling with the bandages over her two missing fingers sadly, pulling her wings tighter against her back and trying to keep them from cutting through her skin at any point. When she was given confirmation, she nodded a couple times, telling Vincent her apartment number as well. "I'll keep the door unlocked so you can come in and, um, I'll see you when you get here, Ny! Thankyooo!!"

"See you soon Adelle!" Vinny said, putting the phone down gently. He repeated the address carefully to his mother, noticing that Joshua was still watching. He frowned slightly, knowing he was in for some teasing. He usually was, when it came to girls. His older brother made sure he was around to 'help'.
"Typical. The only time you get ask out by a girl is when she needs someone to babysit her!" he teased.
Vinny frowned. "You've never been asked out, so you shouldn't tease!" he retorted.
"No," Joshua said, putting his hand on Vinny's shoulder, and leaned in to whisper in his brother's ear. "But don't worry, I plan to be asked out."
Thali rolled her eyes at the boys, shaking her head. "Come on Vin. Josh, you stay and watch the girls, alright? Don't let them get into the cookies." Joshua nodded. He knew how his younger sisters could be when they had sugar. Thali led her son to the car. -Implied driving to Adelle's apartment here- "Call me when you need a ride home, Vin-vin. Have fun."
So she left Vinny alone, standing outside with a piece of paper with Adelle's apartment number. Vinny decided to look. No, not that one. Aha! He took hold of the door knob and turned it. It was unlocked just like Adelle had said it would be. He walked in. "I'm here!"

Adelle hung up the phone at the same moment that Vincent did, albeit with a little more force. But unlike Vincent, there was no one there to tease her, to talk to her, to do... well, anything really. And if there was one thing that the little lust spawn disliked, aside from her wings, it was being alone in her home. She trembled slightly at the feel of a cool breeze, running to the kitchen to close the window, and then simply stopped to observe the room, wishing that there was someone to talk to.
Of course, that was easily remedied as, within a few moments, she was in her living room with all of her dolls and one of the Land Before Time movies playing. Enacting a tea party with all of the cute little dolls as well as her ceramic tea set, she was almost surprised by the door opening. As soon as she was distracted from what she'd been doing, she realized that her hand still hurt, and that Vincent had come over.
Squeaking happily, she jumped to her feet and practically tackled him, hugging him happily around the stomach. "HIHI NY-NY!!" she squealed, giggling and snuggling onto him, even as Sutry tried to beat him, her left tentacle taking the alternate route and hugging him tightly. Her wings flapped happily, showing themselves off as the last time Vincent had really seen them they were fluffy little gosling-like things.

Vincent had forgotten how hyper active Adelle was, and inwardly sighed. To put it bluntly, she was worse than his sisters had been when they'd been toddlers. Not that he'd ever say that too her face, he was much too polite. He patted her back, like the good babysitter he was, and smiled. "Hey Adelle. It's nice to see you too," he didn't know what else to say, really. It'd been a long time since he'd seen her.
"You grew," he commented with a smile. "Nice. So how about that medicine, huh? I'll make sure you don't take too much." He hadn't yet noticed her fingers. "Nice wings though, they're pretty."
He paused, and sat down on the couch in front of the tv. "It's been a while since I've babysat anyone," he admited with a slight frown. "I might have forgotten how to. My sisters are old enough that they don't really need one."

Adelle nodded happily when she finally let go of the elder greed child, still smiling brightly, holding up two of the fingers on her still-complete right hand. "Yup! I growed two times since I see'd you when I was little," she said, nodding happily before looking down at her tentacles. "Kammy and Sutry didn't grow even a li'l bit, though, but that's okay 'cause my friend Lissy's got one li'l tentacoo, too~" she explained happily.
At the mention of the medication, she bounced happily, and gestured for her friend to follow her to the kitchen, where her meds were on top of the fridge. She pointed up to the top of it and flapped her wings hard, though they only got her maybe two inches off of the ground. "It's up there really high so I can't get it," she said, fidgeting with the edge of her shirt gently. At the comment of her wings she smiled a bit, folding them against her back as well as she was able to.
"They are pretty, but they're kinda mean and really, really, um... dangerious," she said with a sheepish half-smile. "The edges of 'em are really sharp and stuff like that, so if they get all flappy and excited, you should make sure to not be too close to them 'cause they might get you hurt or something." Because above anything, she didn't want her wings doing to the same thing to a friend that they'd done to her.
Adelle giggled a bit and stuck her tongue out at the older boy, wiggling a bit where she stood. "Silly! You can't forget how to babysit!!" A pause followed this, in which Adelle gently nipped at her fingertip, blinking in curiosity. "Or... well, maybe you can I guess... you have sister's?!" Talk about attention deficit.

"Two times?" Vincent asked, trying to sound impressed. "Your tentacles have names now, cool." So far this babysitting thing wasn't as interesting as he'd hoped it might be. He followed her to the kitchen, smiling slightly. "Here, I'll get them then. He took the bottle off the fridge with ease, the advantage of being tall. "Did I hear you say you know Lissy? She's my little sisters' best friend," he paused to read the bottle, to make sure he gave her the right amount of medication.
"Oh, well. A lot of the time, pretty things are dangerous," Vinny said with a slight frown. "I mean, girls are pretty, but they're dangerous." Yes, girls were on the dangerous list. "Some poisonous plants are really pretty, but they can make you really sick." He paused, and patted her head. "Don't worry, I'll be careful. I'm used to dangerous things; my little sisters are more dangerous than your wings even. My little sister Samantha, if you get her mad, she could give you a really bad burn. Reiya could strike people with lightening if she felt like it, but thankfully, she never has."
Vincent was not used to babysitting kids with ADHD or whatever it was Adelle seemed to have. His sisters had the ability to sit still; an ability Vinny admired. Still, he supposed he would have to get used to this; she was Aludra's niece. "So... Um. Do you still like stories, or what? I didn't plan anything for us to do, because of the short notice..."

"Uh-huh, Fitzyroy and me got the names from a book at the bookstore that he read for me!!" she said happily, rocking on and off her heels, waiting for her medication and trying to stop fidgeting with the bandages on her left hand. "He's a lot smarter than I am, so he reads better and stuff, which is why I letted him read instead." At the mention of Lissy, she bounced a bit more, wings trying to flap but being held tightly against her back, at least as close as they could without hurting anything.
"Yeah, I know Lissy!! She's my bestest friend, too, and see, she gave me this!!" she said excitedly, holding out her ankle to show off the friendship bracelet her friend had made for her the day they'd all gone shopping. She listened to what the boy said about pretty things and a smile slowly crossed her face before she stepped forward to hug him tightly around the waist, right tentacle also doing so while Sutry continued trying to get away while simultaneously beating on Vincent; nothing too bad, given they didn't exactly have the strength of the average tentacle.
"Thankoo for saying all that stuff. It makes me feel a lot better," she explained the hug with a smile, interested in this boy's siblings as well, though she pulled back to give him his personal space back as he explained them. "I'd like to meet them someday; that'd be fun," she said with a smile and a nod of the head. As for what she liked doing... [tbc]
