 Larkspur had spent a good chunk of time with Eacles now and while he seemed to still be somewhat annoyed by her presence she knew he wouldn't run her off any time soon. Even if he did she would just return to him, she was stubborn that way. They had came across a family of Nequus and from what Eacles had told her the mare had once crossed him and he wished to exact some revenge. Perhaps the foal would make a good target, it was quite young and could prove to be an easy catch. But they certainly couldn't do anything while the parents were there watching him.
With time the foal ventured a little ways from his parents. Then he was quite far away from them. This would prove to be a good time to spring their trap. Wait, what was their trap? She turned to Eacles. "Now what?"

 "Now?" Eacles echoed the filly beside him, giving her a preposterous look as though he couldn't believe she hadn't figured it out already, really though he was just stalling for time so that he could come up with an idea. Yes indeed..now what? After a few moments of glaring at Lark Eacles thought he'd come up with a decent enough plan and gave a bit of a snort.
"Well now we leap out there and kill the wretched foal before the parents can make it to us obviously" Eacles remarked, and they would have to be quick too - that nasty Esterlina mare was a brute she was and Eacles didn't want a repeat of their last meeting.

Larkspur snorted lightly at his so called plan. "That's it? That's your plan?" She shook her head. "Are you stupid?" She took a few steps away before he could lash out at her. "We need something better than that." She fell into thought for a few moments. "Ah I've got it. Stay here and wait until I have gained his trust."
She began to trot away but turned back to Eacles for a moment. "They would never suspect a cute foal looking to play." And with that she left Eacles hidden within the trees and she could only hope that he was smart enough to listen to her or this would fall apart all too soon. She trotted into the open meadow where the colt played by himself, she held her wings out slightly in a playful fashion and called out to the foal in a cheery voice. "Hi there. Would you like to play?" Oh yes, this would be good.

Eacles flattened his ears as the filly called him stupid, he was on teh verge of lashing out at her when she smartly moved off on her own. Stupid filly and her big mouth he thought to himself, since when had she started coming up with plans?
He had to admit her idea had merit though "Fine, and when you get into trouble I may or may not help you" He told her as she trotted off a surly tone in his voice. He'd probably help her. Probably. For the moment he'd play along anyways - watching from the shadows as Lark invited the colt to play. For an evil snotty little filly Eacles had to admit that Lark played the part of sweet innocent pretty well and if the foals parents happened to look over? Well it wouldn't look like anything but two foals playing together.

 Karrde had been happily frolicking in the meadow by himself when the blue filly sudden;y came out of the trees and approached him. Karrde was pretty happy to see her really - being an only foal meant he never really had to many Nequus around to play with and he'd been wishing for a new playmate only a few moments ago.
"Sure" He told her brightly, the young colt had never interacted with many others besides his parents and had no reason to believe that anyone would be out to hurt him "My name is Karrde, whats yours?"

"My name is Larkspur, but most call me Lark." She said happily. He was taking the bait quite nicely, but she really didn't expect another foal to turn down the chance to play. She pranced around him happily, acting just like a normal foal would upon meeting another. "Do you know any good games?"
Her eyes glances at the trees for a split second to make sure Eacles remained hidden. Good she couldn't see him, that either meant he was hiding or had run off to leave her behind. She doubted that he would abandon her as he showed a particular hatred towards the foals mother.

"Lark is a pretty name" Karrde told the blue filly as she danced about him playfully. the little colt thought for a few moments- did he know any good games? well there was always tag..and hide and seek..those were good old staples he though, or at least on the rare occasions he had been able to play with other foals those two game had been a pretty big hit.
"How about....hide and seek?" he finally answered, spinning about to face her before glancing over at his parents in the distance - the seemed to be having a conversation for the time being, Karrde always found their conversations boring so he was rather glad he'd gotten far enough away not to hear it.

What an incredibly sickening display Eacles thought to himself as he watched Larkspur dance around the naive little foal - and she was doing it with a filthy crossbreed too. Some Nequus just didn't have any standards anymore, diluting the blood and creating these weak little spawn. It was all Eacles could do not to dart out of the trees and flatten the foal where he stood. Good riddance as far as he was concerned.

"Oh hide and seek would be great." She said with a happy whinny, half rearing with excitement. It was all too easy to play just another foal, even though deep down it sickened her to pretend to be friendly. She would do this only on rare occasions if it meant succeeding in a plan. When Karrde took a moment to look over to where his parents were she chanced looking out towards were she had left Eacles. She hoped he was still there, if not she would need to figure out how to get away from this silly foal.
She came to a stop and looked at Karrde. "It's been so long since I played with another foal. I'm not sure how good I will be at the game." She shook out her mane. "Do you want to hide first?" She said in that cheery tone that made her shudder inside.

What luck!, Karrde thought to himself as the filly expressed her obvious excitement about playing hide and seek..and had he heard her right? Was the filly also unused to having a playmate about, well that was good to hear - now he wouldn't have to worry about breaking some as yet unknown rule of conduct, Karrde had meet another group of foals whom had insisted on a whole tree full of strange rules when playing. they'd said said thats how they played and though he hadn't understood he'd been expected to play along anyways. It hadn't been a happy experience and Karrde was somewhat glad he'd managed to find another loner foal to play with.
"Thats alright!" he told the filly "I haven't played in a long time either" He assured her before pondering for a moment "How about you hide first and I'll come and find you?" He suggested "I'll start counting!" He stated before pulling his wings forward to cover his eyes "1!"...."2"...

Lark flapped her wings in excitement. "This will be so much fun." She said in that all too happy tone. As Karrde started to count she trotted off, in the general direction she had come into the meadow from. As she got to close to the trees she gave Eacles a slight nod as if telling him that is opportunity for revenge was coming close. All he had to do was wait for the colt to get close to where he hid and then they could spring their trap.
Turning down along the treeline Lark hid behind a large old tree not too far away from Eacles. It didn't matter who Karrde ran into first, her or Eacles, because either way this plan would work. It was foolproof.

Karrde continued counting as the filly's hoof beats faded away, he couldn't be entirely sure but he was fairly certain she was heading back the way she'd arrived - into one of the small groupings of tree's that dotted the meadow. It made sense to Karrde, if he were the one hiding thats where he would go after all - there wasn't many places to hide in the grassy parts of the meadow. When he reached the number he deemed appropriate or at least suitable to give the filly time to find a decent hiding spot Karrde tucked his wings back alongside his body and trotted of towards the trees.
"Ready or not! Here I come!" He called out in a bright cheerful voice as he broke the tree line and trotted into the shadows cast by the trees.

Eacles watched with gleeful eyes as Lark pulled the colt into their little web, despite the wretched way she was forced to act - Eacles had to admit the blue filly was pretty good at such deception, this was something he would have to remember later.
It took all the swirled stallions control to wait for the opportune moment to pounce, like a predator awaited it's prey so too did Eacles await Karrde, and as the indigo colt stepped into the shadow of the tree's and passed by the darkened place where Eacles hid the stallion burst forth with teeth bared and hooves flashing Karrde was completely unprepared for the stallion to come leaping out of the bush behind him and it was mostly luck which had him reacting quick enough to keep from getting gored by the stallions nasty looking horn or trampled by his gleaming hooves. Letting out a frightened yell Karrde had darted sideways but his actions had placed the mud swirled stallion between him and his parents,Where was he to go now? A flash of sunlight caught his eye and the colt dashed at full speed towards it without thinking, bursting out from the other side of the clump of tree'sEacles was rather irritated when his initial rush didn't take the foal out right off the bat, but the wretched half-breed somehow managed to dodge sideways and save himself.It was just dumb luck as far as far as Eacles was concerned.
In any case it hardly mattered Eacles thought to himself as he gave chase to the flashing Indigo and gold colt, once they broke out of the tree's Eacles had the advantage in this flight however - his speed no longer hampered by the branches and tree trunks, obstacles which had allowed the colt to slide past far easier then his own larger form.
Dashing through the meadow it took but a few strides for Eacles to catch the colt, throwing out his hooves to trip the dashing colt up and send him crashing to the ground. Eacles let out a laugh as the colt fell and moved to deliver the final blow. Revenge at long last would be hisKarrdes heart felt like it was about to burst from his chest as the colt raced across the meadow - he wasn't sure exactly where he was going to run with Eacles between him and his parents but he knew without question that he couldn't allow himself to be caught.
Despite this determination and Karrdes worthy efforts however it was not to be so and the little colt could feel the stallions hot breath on his back moments before his throw out hooves tripped him. rolling head over heels the colt crashed to the ground somewhat dazed and before he could stagger to his feet Eacles was upon him, hooves flashing and horn poised for a lethal strike. Karrde let out a desperate scream as the flashing horn descended. Tanaris had been on his way to the fruitlands, when he caught site of what appeared to be a chase going on below, the storm grey stallion was not typically one to butt into another business but the situation seemed quite off - with a tiny foal running scared from such a large stallion. Winging about to get a better look Tanaris knew his instincts had been right when he saw the colt tripped by the stallion.
At first he thought perhaps the colt had done something wrong and the stallion was just going to punish him - thought even with that explanation the situation looked a bit extreme to Tanaris - but when the yellow and brown stallion rose up to deliver what could only be a killing blow Tanaris knew he had to interfere and folding his wings tight against his body the grey stallion dove from the air, letting gravity pull him don at great speed, aiming for the stallions shoulder Tanaris and Eacles collided with a fierce crash that sent Eacles sprawling while Tanaris spread his wings and caught his balance in a thundering crashing halt a few feet away.
"Attempt to murder a colt will you?" He shouted at the yellow stallion who was still on the ground "Foals above all things ought to be protected..and those who hurt them eradicated" The steed determined in an angry voice while he wheeled about and strode to the struggling stallions side, his intent quite clear.

Lark found it hard to hold in a laugh while she watched the unknowing colt walk towards where Eacles hid. This was going so well, she could taste the victory now, for once their plan would work. As moved to get a better view as Eacles chased the annoying little foal out of the trees, cutting him off from his parents. She moved to join in the chase, to further block in the foal, but she caught sight of something moving in fast from above.
As the male Jala swooped down toward Eacles Lark's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't let anything happen to her mentor, not when he still had so much to teach him. He was all she had. Without truly thinking Lark galloped through the meadow. She took advantage of the Jala's back being turned to her as he went after Eacles. Right before she reached him she leapt into the air, using the momentum to help in her attack.
Her hooves flashes as she came down towards the interrupter. How dare he interfere and then attack the only one who ever showed that they cared for her. She let out an angry whinny as she came within striking distance. Sure the stallion was much bigger and likely stronger than her, but she had to do something.

Karrde had thought for sure that this was going to be the end, something he considered quite unfair given that his life was still just beginning. However just as Eacles was about to finish him off the yellow and brown stallion as sent sprawling by a grey blur.
Seemingly forgotten now that this new threat had appeared Karrde struggled to his feet still shaking in terror - what world was this where unknown creatures leapt from the bushes and dove from the skies to attack the unwary.
Tanaris was completely unprepared for the filly coming up behind him, and even if he had seen her approach its unlikely he would have thought her a threat...she was a foal after all, it was more probable that the grey stallion would think he coming to help the other foal then the nasty brute at his feet.
So it was that when Lark launched herself into the air and came down upon Tanaris' back, small hooves helped by her momentum and gouging furrows down the greys side Tanaris spun about, striking out with a fore hoof before seeing what had attacked him, his eyes widened in shock as he realized it was another foal.
Eacles asn't ure ho he was going to get out of this mess as he saw Tanaris stalking towards him, a flash of blue caught his eye however and he had to give the filly points for bravery when she launched herself at the much larger stallion. Seeing his chance when the grays attention focused on Lark Eacles gathered his feet beneath him and launched himself at the grey wickedly hooked horn set to tear into his flesh.
