Zuberi stretched as he came out of the water. He had just had a nice refreshing little dip. It was hard on the wild dog to be out during the day, it was something his pack wasn't be use to, but he found it exciting, and engaging to be out during the hot desert days, though because of his dark coat, his body didn't always agree with him.

The brown dog shook himself dry as he came onto the land, wondering what today's day was to bring him. He had done most of the scouting that needed to be done, and now was interested in perhaps finding a new friend. He wasn't overly picky about who he made friends with, but of course his favorite was girl wild dogs, there was just added potential bonuses to making friends with them, he smirked as these thoughts ran through his head.

Shai-Nefer was feeling very happy for some reason. Perhaps it was because for the first time she had left her pride's territory and the world was at her paws. True, she had a mission, of sorts, but that didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun along the way.

The reason for her being in these lands was that the search for her family had brought her here. She had heard of a pack of wild dogs had settled in this desert and she hoped one or more of her siblings had passed trough here or had even settled in. She noticed a dark shape in the distance, near what seemed a body of water (she hoped that wasn't a mirage). She paused and after careful consideration approached the other wold dog.

Zuberi spotted the other wild dog, and his tail began to wag. A new friend he thought, very excited that he had found someone... while really she had found him, but the details were a little less important.

He approached her keeping his tail going, he thought it important to show other dogs that he meant well when approaching them, particularly if they were strangers. "Hi there." Zuberi began, his traditional greeting, "my name is Zuberi."

Seeing the male approach with obviously good intentions, Shai's tail started wagging a little as well. She waited form him to approach and greet her, as she was probably on his territory. "My name is Shai-Nefer. Most call me Shai." She smiled in return. "Nice to meet you." Her eyes kept going back and forth between Zuberi and the water and her mouth got dryer. "Do you mind if a get a drink of water first? It's a very hot day and I've traveled quite the distance." She said with an apologetic look as she headed towards water.

Zuberi nodded when the other asked for a drink of water, it was understandable that one would want some water. As he watched her body move to the water's edge Zuberi smiled, it was strange he could find the movement of a body so captivating.

He followed behind her wanting to keep as little distance between them as possible, "You have traveled far?" Zuberi asked, he knew he did not recognize this dog, he wondered perhaps where she had come from.

Lifting her head away from the water, Shai licked the moisture from her now soaked muzzle and nodded. "I live in a pride far away from here. I was a Healer there." She said it proudly. Healers were very respected in her home. "I left them for a wile to search for my family. I've been traveling for weeks and have heard nothing of them." Her eyes fell to the ground for a brief moment and she pawed at the earth. Looking up at Zuberi again she continued. "Actually I heard there was a pack of wild dogs nearby. I was hoping I might learn something about my family from them. Do you know where the pack is?"

Zuberi's eyes brightened at the mention of his home, a wild dog pride. He was going to be able to be of service. "I do know where that pack is!" Zuberi said, bouncing slightly. He liked being able to help out and do something good.

"I can take you there." he told her, "Mind you right now most would be sleeping, we are a nocturnal pack, so we rise at night and sleep during the day." he told her, "Its my home though so I can bring you there, show you around. Possibly help you find the answers you are looking for."

Shai beamed at him, how lucky. "You do? That's great!" The tip of her tail wagged with excitement. She felt one step closer to finding her family, or at least some useful piece of information regarding them. Even if she didn't, she appreciated the chance to see what a wild dog pack was like. She doubted it was much different from the pride she grew up in, minus all the different species and the disease that plagued the lions of course.

"Well then I suppose we can stay here for now?" Shai suggested, not liking the idea of disturbing someone from their sleep. "I am kind of tired, it would be nice to rest my paws." She continued, sitting down. "Meanwhile you can tell me about yourself." She was genuinely curious about Zuberi and so far found him quite an interesting male.

Zuberi nodded settling in nicely, preparing to tell the female his story, he liked his sotry, of course he tended to leave out certain things when meeting female sort. He wasn't trying to be dishonest, he just didn't want things to taint their view of him, so few understood the pack's ways.

"I have lived a pretty simple life you see, I was born in the pack we spoke of before, and I have been there ever since. I am a scout for them now. My family is all there, or at least the ones I know about, I never knew my father. Thats ok thought." he smiled.

"I have lots of siblings, there is eight of us all together. I have three sisters and five brothers." he giggled, he loved his large family, there was always someone around from it.

"How about yourself? Tell me where you are traveling from?"

Shai found herself smile as she listened, it was a good story, and it made her a little jealous to be fair, the part about his siblings. "I never knew my father either." She confessed. "So we have that in common." She smiled fondly at him. "I have fewer siblings though - a sister and three brothers."

When he asked his question, she pondered whether she should tell him why healers were so important in the Kitwana'antara, but decided not to. When she told others about the disease, more often than not they would get scared, even if she assured them that only lions could get infected.

"My mother was a rogue when she got pregnant, that's why she joined the pride, you see. But she ended up staying because her talent for healing was very appreciated." She smiled at the memory of her. "When she passed, my siblings left. They were more like her than me, I guess. That's why I'm here, searching for them."

"I'll be heading back soon, though. I have my duties." Strangely enough she didn't feel that saddened that she might not ever find them. They had left her behind after all.

Zuberi sat fairly quietly keeping his fidgeting to a minimum, which really was a challenge for the adult wild dog. Her story was interesting, and very sad. Zuberi could feel his insides twist in sadness for the other creature.

"Your life has been such and adventure already." Zuberi said with a smile. He really was amazed with all the other dog had managed to experience, Zuberi felt that his life, which he had thought was fairly action packed, was inadequate.

"I do hope that you are able to find some of your family Shai." Zuberi told the female."I find family to be very important... but I guess that you have a pride, a pride is like family." Zuberi added the second part to his statement quickly. He himself didn't know what he would do without his family, but he didn't want to upset the female.

"Yes, I suppose it has. My travels have not been especially daring, but at least I got to see some interesting places." She smiled happily. To tell the truth, meeting Zuberi had been one of the most interesting things that had happened to her. She felt that if they had been in the same pride or pack, they could have been good friends.

"Thank you. And yes, my pride is my family. We are all quite close. I've never felt lonely with them." She had loved her siblings, but she couldn't deny that her friends had given her much more than her blood family. With the exception of her mother, nothing could replace her. She had loved them all so dearly, Shai thought she'd be upset if she could see her pups now.

"Have you had any interesting adventures?" She steered the subject away from her family, there was nothing more to say anyway. And she was curious to know more about her companion.

Zuberi listened to the female talk. He sat fairly still something that was difficult for the adult wild dog, he tended to need to move around a lot.

"I don't know that I have had that many adventures. Though I have gotten myself into trouble." Zuberi's mind drifted to some of the other female wild dogs he had met.... he shouldn't have done some of the things that he had done, but well life happens. He just wondered if one day one of those females was going to show up at his door with pups, that would be hard to explain to Twana.

"I love to travel and learn, but my home is my home, no adventure could replace that." he said with a grin. The more he talked about home, the more he realized he was missing it, he wanted to get back there, back to his Twana. He began to stir uneasily showing his desire to leave, but not wanting to be rude he tried to hide his feelings.

Shai chuckled. She had had her fair share of trouble. With her boisterous band of siblings, they had gotten in to all sorts of sticky situations. She had grownn since then, but some of those memories still gave her a chuckle.

"That's true, nothing can replace home. Speaking of which, I think I'll have to be going now." Judging by the sun's position a lot of time had passed. It was not as hot, so it was safe for her to continue her journey.

"It was lovely meeting you, Zuberi." Standing up, the white dog gave him a parting nod. "It's a shame we don't have more time, but I think it's time we parted."

Zuberi smiled and bowed to the female. He was glad that she felt the same way and he didn't have to cut the meeting between the two of them short.

"I hope that you have safe travels Shai my dear." he said with a pleseant look on his face, "It was a pleasure meeting you." Zuberi rose to his feet prepared to see the female of before turning and heading back to his own home.
