I spent approximately one minutes in the GD, and my eyes felt like they were going to puke. No joke. That was what it felt like.

How about you?

The public forums in one way or another are messed up. Do not enter that den of sin, unless you desire n00bishness. stare

I was bored with SF.

And now, I think I'll take at least a day or two away from SF as well. It's full of "OMFG a** FACE WHY DID YOU TAKE AWAY SMOKES IM GONNA GIVE MY AVI A SMOKE JUST TO PIS U OFF AND FIGHT DA REVOLUTION!@ SUCK IT".

I'm surprised to see most non-smokers are more upset than those who actually smoke irl.

Well, the general consensus thinks Gaia's been sued by some angry soccer mom. Which is, in reality, quite the possibility since you can sue anyone for just about anything these days. But I'm wondering if they're infringing on some sort of anti-smoking law.

Because here, I now work in a gas station/convenience store, which obviously sells cigarettes. But a while ago, they enacted the law saying cigarettes/cigars couldn't been shown, and had to be kept in a way that a customer can't see them. So we had to put them in wooden cupboards. Laws also say that we can't give out any sort of smoking paraphernalia that advertises a brand, that it must be sold. Which sucks because a lot of it is free and some of it you aren't allowed to sell when it comes free.

So I'm wondering if California or somewhere else has laws similar to this and considers Gaia to be infringing upon them.

Nah, we have a large tax on cigs, so the lawmakers aren't going to ban any advertisements any time soon.

Here in Cali, alot of places don't carry them anymore, but when they do, they are clearly displayed and you can see them fine. I do know you're not allowed to smoke ANYWHERE outside or inside because of screaming hippies. People still b***h at my mom for smoking in her own house.

Well, our government use to make mad amounts off of smoke taxes. But I guess now smokes are getting half of the blame for pretty much everything wrong with everyone, so they're slowly, bit by bit banning it everywhere so they can spend less on healthcare. But, I doubt they'll ever fully ban it, since a 4.60 pack of smokes ends up costing nearly twice as much with tax. No way anybody would give up that great of a profit.

Plus, they send out agents to try and catch us not checking for I.D. on young people. If we get caught even accidentally selling to under-age or even those who just plain look like they could be, it's up to 4 grand fine for the employee, and up to 10 for employer.

They banned advertisements here a long time ago. None in any Canadian magazines, television, billboards. They only time I've seen an ad is in a American car magazine my brother had. They also banned smoking in a car with a child, which I can understand seeing as it's slightly unfair to force a child to be in a confined place with smoke. But hardly anyone follows it.

Actually, as flimsy as it sounds, it does have some legal precedents. Because Gaia is a website directed mainly towards teenagers and young adults, having tobacco products could be considered as corrupting the minds of minors and could also be considered inadverdant advertisting of tobacco and tobacco products.

And that's where I've been the last few days. sweatdrop Researching legal statutes and precedents to help me with my current mock-trial case. I won it Friday, by the way.

I don't mind the GD all that much. There's a few people there that aren't too bad. I like the WG quite a big though....

Congrats Chang.

And it appears the SF is still not a safe place to be. Instead of baww over losing cigs and smokes, it is now baww that we are supposedly getting them back and "I WANT GAIA TO MAKE ANOWMSMENT BCAZ DEY F'ED UP!?!?!?!"

So I live in Aquariums now.

I'm beginning to think that Gaia's going to get sued soon by angry parents soon because they just brought back cigs and such...and now I'm just pissed at Gaia in whole. stare I think I'll stay away from here until things blow over...
